Rumor:Stoops stepping down, Vince to UofL as OC next year

I said it was a rumor, that scenario would be hard to make up. With the exception of Vince to UofL, seems like a good idea to me. Cats have only won 2 SEC home games the last 3 years, USCjr and Vandy also have 2 wins each at Kroger in same time period. That’s a downward trajectory. Plus Stoops doesn’t like NIL. Hopefully they beat Texas and UofL and all is right with the world and this rumor goes away.

If Sumrall comes to UK, VM stays. VM has no experience as an OC.
VM actually was the interim OC during the bowl game with NCSt. I remember the camera panning to the sideline and I saw Stoops yelling at VM. He obviously doesn't think VM is worthy of being the OC here and we have had some duds.

If you believe Stoops he’s been talking big all week about how excited he is for next year, etc. Not sure I believe it….. I have a feeling we’re stuck with each other for at least one more season.
I like Stoops overall at UK, but since he agreed to taking the Texas A&M job last year, I’m not sure I fully trust anything he says. Hey, I don’t blame a guy for trying to better his career, but things have been deteriorating since that all went down.

He was OC in name only. Basically all of Vince’s titles are like that. They’re all just pats on the head so he feels appreciated and keeps recruiting.

Yes, I think Vince is a good recruiter, great ambassador, players guy, but I’m not sure about his coaching abilities. I still like him and want him here, but I don’t think him leaving would stop us from losing to Vandy at home.

Stoops has already said he would be back. Sure, things can change but the media people with a feel of the program believe he will return. I hope they are wrong, but I am not getting my hopes up.

After the 10 win season it seems he started feeling himself some. Made the comment about Beamer at media days and has underperformed since. The A&M situation seemed to cement in his brain that he’s stuck with no way out and he wears it on his sleeve without saying it.

It's just noise. Calipari told Memphis that he was coming back in 2010. ADs and owners always give the 'vote of confidence' right before they fire somebody. I can't envision a world where Stoops is back next year. After bolting, reneging, and tanking all in the same season?

That's what Stoops and any other coach is supposed to say at that moment in the season. I really can't see another top program after him as coach so there will be some negotiation going on after the season for his resignation or retirement. It's too uncomfortable for him to return as coach at Kentucky, unless he wins convincingly these last 2 games. Then I can see him staying or possibly some team taking a chance on him. But I don't see Kentucky winning out so he likely won't be coach here next year.
