Rumor: Andy Kennedy to WVU?

What optics.. Replaced Huggins at Cincy after Huggins fired for DUI. Then Kennedy himself fired after a DUI...

I read an article that the West Virginia is the 49th least educated state in the country. Kentucky was pretty low too though.

Why is that?

His biggest career accomplishment is winning the SEC Tournament in 2013.

That isn't meant to be funny, it's objectively a fact.

He has won 2 NCAA tournament games in his whole career.

Why would those guys stay to play for him?
The ones who are expecting to start may not see a lot of other places they can go and expect major minutes. I don't really know that, just something that may factor in.

I always liked him as a commentator. Not sure it’s the right hire if he has DUIs in is past, as I read elsewhere assuming that’s true.

He is a experienced one though, and he can be a uniting factor for that group

I think them promoting an assistant coach was the situation I was worried about, I think that would have united them.

A brand new guy who none of them know and has accomplished nothing in his career doesn't worry me. If I'm Tre Mitchell or Jesse Edwards, I'm not hearing about this hire and getting fired up for the season.

Side note- would Tre Mitchell be eligible? Did he graduate?

I’m going off what one there fans is saying, Kennedy is a good not great coach, for the situation they are in he would be a good hire. Mitchell would have to get a waiver but they would probably give it to him given the circumstance

The West Va job is a good one. Morgantown is not a reflection of the State.
It's 60 miles from Pittsburgh and closer to Washington DC than Lexington is to Knoxville.

Would be a great job for Ben, and a great get for WVU. Someone is going to give him a chance, and when they do they're going to be rewarded for it.
Ben is really a winner. Head coach Norhwest Missouri State a division 2 squad but what accomplishments. 81% win percentage. Four times national championships. 11 time league champion. Division 2 coach of the year five times. Just 42 years old. Wouldn't mind seeing him at Kentucky one day.

They should definitely hire Crean.

Kennedy is one of my favorites on the SEC channel.
“They don’t need shooters, they need makers.”

“I’m about to head to Rosebud and get some Makers in about 15 minutes.”

Maybe one of the funniest exchanges I’ve heard in a game.

In the last 5 years we have 4 tournament wins (still not good).

In the last 5 tournaments, we made 4 of them and 1 NIT, and we have 7 wins.

But I fail to see what any of that has to do with the head coach that West Virginia hires?

The comment was he only has 2 NCAA tournament wins. I was referring to NCAA tournament wins, not SEC or for God's sake an NIT win, oh wait we lost there too!!

Kennedy's name has surfaced as probably the most likely but there are others out there. Tom Crean is one. Lesser knowns but on the rise include Jarred Calhoun, Pat Kelsey, Ben McCollum.
Don't forget Forbes and the greatest of intrigue- John Beilein. He could take the job for a couple seasons while WVU makes a long term plan.

Great coach. Just an FYI Ben is at Northwest Missouri State…..

Well your statement was incorrect.

Not sure where the other poster is getting NIT from last 5 years though either as 2013 is 10 years ago.

Kennedy sounds like a fallback choice if their primary target(s) can't be landed. AK has a good basketball mind but, I wonder if he can recruit to WVU? He has baggage but, honestly what coach older than 40 doesn't?
