Losing only 13-14 off the 2 deep is pretty damn good. Feel like we are in pretty good shape for next season.

While I do think the players we’ve brought in from the portal are definitely an upgrade there’s a couple we’re losing that definitely hurt. And as others have pointed out, if we don’t come up with a proven LT and a couple good CBs then the upgrade in talent isn’t gonna help us as much. There’s a reason LTs and CBs go so high in the draft. They’re pretty important positions in todays game. And we need help at both spots in a very big way.

The staff is really high on Goodwin and maybe they have enough confidence in him to come in and start day one? Could be the reason he shunned Michigan St last minute. He’s looking to play early. If that’s the case I really hope it works out for our offenses sake. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings though if they found a good one in the portal and let them battle it out over the spring as to who should be starting.

Thanks for the info. That sucks though. Was really hoping a solid vet like Dotson would be back, especially with what we’ve already lost. Dotson may not be a future pro, but I’d rather have him than not. Kinda same for AAF, but probably not as big of a loss as Dotson IMO.

I'm no expert on O-lineman but the rap on Dotson was he was more of a mauler and doesn't really have what they are looking for in the way speed and agility to suite the outside zone running schemes.

Sanders is a WR from Michigan. He was a bigger guy and I think he got caught up in the change in dynamics at WR, going from downfield blocking types to smaller, more speed types.. Don't think he ever appeared in a game at UK.

You have to consider how many of those transferring out are would be JRs, SRs and particularly RS and super SRs who would play little anyway, and whether we are at 85. My understanding is that we expect to be.

I think you are seeing us suggest to kids that we need to bring our class balance back to reality ASAP. I've not made a close analysis, but this is my sense of what is happening. We have some talented young guys that need to eat, and we don't need a bubble of short stocked classes.

Isn't this the threat of letting everyone that wishes to hang around, particularly for a "bonus year"? Also... bad for team chem if there are too many discontented elders in the locker room.

I expected more from him too after he decommitted from Penn St. And he seemed to be adapting to the move to OC. Have to wonder if an injury or injuries set him back. Good luck to him.

Just a change in direction of the program. Few year ago UK signed Thomas, Oliver, and Dailey(others too) who were primarily physical(all 6'-6'2" and 205-215) downfield blockers to aid the running game. UK has moved away from those types in recent years to the more speedy pass catchers. Just no room for those guys. Wish them well. Hopefully Thomas resurfaces in the future as an asst.
