Losing alot of talent and depth. Hope we bring in some guys to replace what is being lost, and I would say Kinnard is definitely going

Yeah, imo , need another big time WR if cats want to repeat success of this past season. Also need som O linemen and defensive players after what is being lost.

I would guess we will add a large number of transfers between this week and of the spring.

Dumb question, Goodfellow in the transfer portal? I thought he was a senior. Is he using his super senior year to find a team with a crappy offense that will get him a ton of opportunities?

Transfers Out:
WR - Isaiah Epps (Tulsa) - didn't play much, probably wasn't slated for more PT
LB - Jared Casey - a surprise; figured he'd get #2 snaps at least next year
LB - Marquez Bembry - STs guy, got a few snaps here and there; we weren't counting on him taking significant snaps next year
LB - KD McDaniel (UCF) - big surprise; figured he'd be #1 or #1A on the depth chart next year
OT - Nasir Watkins - injuries hampered him; not sure if he'd be counted on for much contribution
DT - Isiah Gibson - big surprise; thought he'd step into a lot more PT with JP and Bully graduating
DB - Moses Douglass - thought he'd move up in the pecking order but newbies kept passing him by; wasn't counting on him to play much except maybe STs
DB - Cedric Dort - played quite a bit but tea leaves looked like he'd see fewer snaps next year
PT - Colin Goodfellow - injured guy coming back, big time kicker already signed
RB - Travis Tisdale - barely remember him playing; not in our plans for 2022
RB - Torrence Davis - a little surprise; thought he'd step into the short yardage back role but never saw any PT at RB that I recall; especially if CRod returns, he wasn't going to play
WR - Devonte Ross - need WRs but he was never eligible, was he?
QB - Nick Scalzo - injuries; at best, our 3rd option and with the Iowa xfer and the kid from Somerset, he was almost assuredly not going to get any PT barring multiple injuries
OL - Jake Pope? - hadn't seen him on the field much, if any; plenty of OL recruits the last two years; probably recruited over

So, if my thumbnail assessment is somewhat accurate, of the 14, only 3 that I can see were likely to see a reasonable amount of PT next year.

Definitely need another LB or two, another WR, OL and DL. I think with maybe 4-5 transfers that fill specific needs, we'll be fine. We've recruited really well the past few years and those guys gotta step up. Have a good core returning. If Wright, Dare and CRod all return, we should be looking at 8+ wins again next year.

To be honest...only KD McDaniel is a guy that would sting a bit.

- Scalzo, Pope, Nassir Watkins, Travis Tisdale, Mo Douglas, Torrance Davis....never played and were not going to
- Epps was passed up by Demarcus Harris and I'd imagine the younger kids were going to as well next year
- Gibson is a weird one...but he wasn't passing Rybka or Ox at either spot. Maybe he's a depth guy but I'd argue we'll replace his depth fine
- Casey is high rated but again...with Jones coming back and Deryck Jackson back...was passed up by Wallace at WLB. If Square is a back...his role is even less next year.
- Dort...plays a ton for 3 years but makes no plays and we were not good at CB last year.
- I have no idea about punter

All in all, we have lost maybe 1 kid that possibly could have started next year...and if Jordan Wrihgt is back...then McDaniel isn't even that. The rest were at best 2nd stringers and most were not even that high.

For clarity only two listed under transfers out have actually transferred. Some of these may eventually stay.
However at this point it looks like the 85 limit isn't going to be an issue, and in fact if all these guys go we will need to take the full 7 through the portal and add 3 more HS players

Yeah, I didn't get that one either. Kids usually leave for more PT or a better program. Goodfellow starting P all year as far as I remember

We need to reload and do that quickly. WR, CB, OTx2, and DE all need attended to. I’m certainly not in panic mode but there’s a bad feeling in my stomach. Everyone listed under undecided can gladly come back. Might be best for Dotson and AAF to look elsewhere tho.

13-14 names in the portal seems like a lot! Probably more after spring ball. Plus graduates. Lots of change, hoping we’ll be ok!
I take 90% of them as having been recruited over. None so far have transferred “up.” Most have been transfers down. I’d give UCF transfer a sideways but barely. Two, Daniel and Casey, I wish had stayed but understand their decisions not to.

Yeah, hoping the remaining undecideds are back. At least hit the damn pause button on the Outs until some Ins are official! I trust the staff has this, but it’s a little unnerving, lol.

My biggest concern is we already have 13 in the portal, with more to come, and you can only bring in 7 from the portal. With the Covid bonus year I can't keep up with the scholarship numbers. Anybody know if we'll still be close to 85?

I didn’t know that rule. You can only bring in seven portal incomings?

Well you can bring in 7, but if you don’t sign a full recruiting class (25) you can use the remaining spots for transfers.

I hate losing Goodfellow. You just never know what you’re going to get with special teams with new people. Would be nice to have a guy you know can function. Yeah we have people coming in and Smith may be great at whatever kind of kicking he will do but never know how that shakes out. We’ve had big leg kids come in but turn out not to be able to put it together at the college level re Chance Poor most recently.

Wilson Berry, the Aussie, will likely be the punter.

We have the Aussie, Berry (who sustained a back injury early in the season after becoming the "starter") AND Smith next year, right?

Yes. Plus Chance Poor on kick offs...... all three on scholarship. May not be but just a few D1 schools with 3 schoolies for kickers.

I'm officially concerned also. I didn't think we'd be losing all of the players jumping into the portal.

Losing so many at positions of need without the ability to replace them is baffling and unnerving. There's no way we will be replacing them all. May be under 80 scholarship players next season.

What has happened to our DBs and LBs? Used to be a strength of our D. Was that all Clink, and Sumrall/Hood?

I got the impression that his transfer is family related. Everything he said pointed to him hating to leave. Could be a academics as well. Either way, that dude will be a player. Wish him all the luck in the world.
