Rondo trending for all the wrong reasons

Players probably have heard rumors about refs that are gay or whatever. They probably try to get something on all of them just to get into their heads. Rondo is a jackass. What he said to him was like calling a black person the N word. It's the same kind of intent.

If it makes you feel any better, I think it's ridiculous how society views calling a black person the n-word a greater offense than most crimes sans rape and murder. It's not that I want to go around calling block people the n-word or gays the f-word, but those are just words and I believe that and I believe black people and gay people are strong enough to handle some knucklehead saying that every now and again without it becoming a major news story.

hard to keep defending his actions. Dude is and always will be a Cat, but he's less of a favorite every time he opens his damn mouth.

What I hate about the world is we have to be so politically correct. If I were gay and someone called me a homo, so what. It would be what I am.

He didn't call him a "homo", he called him a "****ing ******". Several times. Nothing to do with political correctness. It's plain and simply wrong and Rondo lost me forever on this one.

The speech is so accepted that it's even banned and redacted here! LOL

Who cares that he called him a fudge packing butt pirate? The NBA refs deserve everything they get. Too many PC people crying over nothing.

looks like the sensitive police have more fuel to run with. I guess that ref will get the courage award for having to deal with that.

Funny how johnny gets made an example of when every player uses anti gay slurs on the reg

I don't think every player does. I bet the gay ones don't. And maybe the 3 or 4 players without anger management problems.

And Rondo didn't just call the ref slurs, he pursued the ref and shouted them at him.

Is this the same game in which Rondo was ejected for staring at the ref? This isn't the first time Rondo has had anger issues with refs. He's chest bumped one (and been rejected) and even thrown the ball at one (and been rejected). Anger doesn't stay neat and tidy in one place. Anger spreads through the rest of your life. It's like the time you left a fish cooking in the pan too long and you could smell burned fish in every room of your house for days. [Well, ok. You didn't do that. I did.] Rondo needs to use a little of his skill at anticipating basketball play on his emotions. Anger has a pattern and develops in particular ways.

Good riddance. I'll still root for him to do well.

I think we're really missing the point here as Commissioner Silver did what he had to do in showing players the NBA hierarchy persists despite sexual preference.

And a thread will immediately veer to inject a political point or reign control. In some cases, literally every post.

Accept that RR is a lovely place for holiday gatherings with crazy uncles.

The video showed the player get ejected, too. I'm not sure of your point. I don't think "unprecedented" is much of an excuse.

gay bashers have been fined, they have been ejected and fined, they have never suspended

Kobe and Noah were both fined and reprimanded by the NBA for using similarly offensive anti-gay slurs.

We talk about Rondo here because he played for UK.

The tired excuse of 'it happens all the time' provides zero justification for this type of derogatory language and the continued use of it.

Well, there's the addition of Rondo's pursuit of the ref and his history of contact with them. He would have been due something even if all he'd said was, "I hate braised brisket." Punishments do have a tendency to get more severe for multiple offenders.

You must really hate the rap culture.

Not sure why the rap industry was singled out. Laughing at the concept of a single "rap culture".

If a rap or hip hop artist chased down a gay person and yelled 'mf-ing fa$%0t' at them, I prolly wouldn't buy their album.

Lovely Double standard you have there. Yea, the don't "chase them down" they just make millions citing anti-gay rhetoric. You're not very bright. No one is worse to the gay community than rappers.

Well maybe Isis.

And you said there's no excuse for "this type of language". So don't go moving the goal post. Rap is as bad as it gets, yet you don't seem to have a problem with that do ya?

[laughing]

Some rappers do, most artists in the hip hop and rap game don't. Just like some in the rock industry use anti-gay slurs, while most don't. It's not consistent across the cotdam industries.

In your hilariously bad logic I should condemn all NBA players and the league because of Rondo and Joakim Noah.

"No one is worse to the gay community than rappers" is f'n stupid. You know nothing about the industry. The "rap industry" has set back the equal treatment of the LGBT community and advancement of gay rights for decades. [laughing]

I'm very disappointed in Rondo; but not really surprised - he's had those anger issues for years. It was highly inappropriate and offensive, and he's been punished accordingly. That's all there needs to be said about it.

Look at you twisting yourself into a pretzel trying to back the rap industry which is notoriously bad toward gays. The rock industry? Wow. No one is buying that crap. The rap industry and most rappers are downright pitiful toward women and gays. The fact that you are denying it screams hypocrite, which most of you Lefties are. At the end of the day you're just scared to call it what it is.

The Rock industry, lmao. There goes your credibility.

Just for the record, here's the exact quote. I was just pointing out what I already knew. Your type are so typical. Zero justification for this type of language?

Hypocrite. You listen to music that is downright horrible to women and gays, but you're afraid of calling it what it is. Like I said, typical.

You can respond but I'm done with you.

There's no twisting here, your logic is flawed and your reading comprehension is worse. Yes, some rappers and hip hop artists have lyrics about having sex and/or don't treat women as equals, like many other popular male artists. That wasn't being debated.

The fact that you think the "No one is worse to the gay community than rappers" is hilariously delusional and, quite frankly, ignorant. I don't care if I have credibility, at least i'm not you.

Selective outrage is a hallmark of the left.

You have no clue what I listen to. You're making a straw man argument in which, in order to denounce Rondo's remarks, one must also condemn and/or "hate" an entire genre because of offensive actions from selected participants. And you're losing at your own straw man argument.

You're even having trouble understanding the full sentence of my quote that you site.

Plus you think that the "rap industry" is the worst thing happening to the gay community. It's hilarious and, in your case, embarrassing.
