Romo said today that Heupel will be considered for NFL job after this season

His scheme is really unique. I do wonder how having 5 OL and a RB only with those wide splits is giong to pan out in NFL. Can you keep a QB healthy with that little protection and so many deep shots.

Some b1tch called me out for saying his offense is a little gimmicky yesterday.

The extreme hurry up is kind of gimmicky. And nfl players are not going to want to play at that pace. He has had success where he has gone, but left quickly and did not have to "maintain" anything. Can he maintain this success? Time will tell.

College coaches with the best contracts don't get matched or beaten by NFL teams. Nobody is going to gamble on him and overcommit to him like the panthers did with rhule. they'll either fade this year and interest will wane or if he keeps the march up for 11 wins or something he's going to get paid by ut. Plus you have hash mark differences and speed differences on d that don't lend to the amount of busted coverages he gets in college. I mean, who is to say hooker can't be good but after watching him how do you know. so much of his college stuff is busted coverage throws.

He is more likely to go to Oklahoma down the road than the NFL. He's gonna kick our ass regardless for years to come, whether at tn or ou.

I pray when we go to 18 teams we don't draw tn as one of our 3 permanent opponents if that rumor holds of one giant 18 team division with 3 permanent and 6 rotating every other year.

No, he is not going to Oklahoma…. Bob stoops fired him. Bob stoops is still heavily involved with the Oklahoma and lives within 1 mile of the stadium left on very bad terms.

This. Those anointing Chumlee the next whomever should hold off a while. Can he sustain? Just because UK does their annual TN choke doesn't mean others will.

It definitely won't work in the NFL but I hope someone hires him away. If he is allowed to continuously get away with illegal formations/procedure/shifts, their offense will be impossible to stop. Best you can hope for us slowing it down.

The second wide open TD to Hiatt is a perfect example of something they get away with that should be a flag every time.

He's not going back to OU. Bob Stoops fired him as the OC several years ago-- just too awkward for all concerned now. Bob Stoops is now in the role Barry Switzer held for a long time at OU-- the "retired Godfather" of the program and ultimate oversight. Heupel not headed to OU anytime soon-- in fact, the job he has now is better than the one at OU.

What is happening on the shifts you're talking about?

I do notice at times they snap it so fast...they are not set for a full second in many instances but it sort of goes uncalled. But I don't know about the illegal formations/shifts you're talking about.

On that play, their offense lines up and everyone is looking at the sidelines. Then the two wrs flip flop and they quick snap. That should be an illegal shift or motion.

Players can shift (only some can go in motion) but it has limitations. Not supposed to be allowed for the sole purpose of catching defenses off guard

I'll have to look at it. The rule is you have to pause a second after shift to snap the ball....or at least the watchful eyes of SEC refs flagged us in Ole Miss for it.

That's procedure. There are rules to shifting and moving too. Players can only shift or move under certain circumstances. Definitely not for the sole purpose of flip flopping at the last second and snapping the ball.

Or score more than 18.4 ppg

Chip Kelly tried to bring a similar style to the NFL and it was a complete disaster. Wouldn't work.

I don't think that offense would work in the NFL but then again I also thought a defensive lineman lining up with his helmet on the offensive side of the ball is offsides but UT did it all night and no flags so what do I know. 🤷‍♂️

There is also a coaches box on the sideline, coaches aren't suppose to be allowed on the field. But Chumlee was all down the field, 5 yards on the field , did he even get a warning?

This gimmick offense doesn't work in the NFL.

They won't get away with all the movement first and foremost. Second, you don't get pro DBs confused enough for all the wide open passes. Third, only 5 linemen and maybe a RB is a recipe for a QB living on the IR.

Big difference in talent level of 300+ college teams and 32 NFL teams. Everyone in NFL is top notch

I agree with your statement you can't protect a QB with only 5 OL and a RB.....but my question is why can't college teams heat them up. it's not like Bama/Will Anderson isn't a NFL type edge rusher. Why can't teams punish Hooker for being so unprotected?

I have had the same thought. My only guess is they have 1 (or maybe 2 for UGA and Bama) NFL caliber linemen??

I don’t understand the gimmick offense comments. The goal of every offense should be to score points, something UT seems to understand and UK has forgotten

If you don’t understand, watch what happened to the Eagles and Chip Kelly when he tried to bring it to the NFL. It’s a deadly offense in college though which is all you should care about.

We ARE NOT playing in NFL!!!...in CFB it's points, points, points. In the SEC the t5 teams all average 35+ppg with 3 over 40...UK is at 23 and only 18.4 in league play. Changing OCs won't matter. The HC should have had a come to Jesus moment after Sat., but afraid after listening to post game and Monday morning presser he says he has no intentions of changing the offense that he wants to run.

I know, that’s what I said. It’s a prolific college offense which is all that matters. I was just responding to the guy that didn’t understand why people say it wouldnt work in the NFL. If I were a UT fan that would be a good thing.

Keep it up, I need to keep laughing, because I know that you really think that lining up in the neutral zone made the difference in the game, because you keep posting about it.
I dare say the majority of UK fans see this for what it really was because these have been some of the observations made
1. A beat down of biblical proportions by the team that UK has never had much success against , that also happens to be the team they want to beat the most, compounded by the fact that it was a prime game on Saturday night
2. Incredible disappointment based on what was perceived to be fabulous talent, and a fabulous coach.
3. offensive playcalling , and I’m being charitable here, that was terrible.
4. A team that was unprepared, played listlessly
My opinion is that as long the
“ they lined up in the neutral zone “ issue is paramount to you as a cause of an absolute humiliating defeat , well then , it’s your opinion.

I remember when it was rumored that the Bengals and other NFL teams were looking hard at Mumme, early on, caught up in the Air Raid's early success.
