Kentucky’s all-time win % is .760.

In games officiated by Roger Ayers, it’s .500 (13-13).

In true road games officiated by him, it is .250 (3-9).

Think this guy isn’t biased/a hater/corrupt?

We got mugged all night and no calls. We breathed on Clemson and it was a foul. We should have won anyway… got to overcome the adversity. But this guy is crooked and always has been.

Iffiest thing I saw in the condensed game was a clear foul on Butler that resulted in a turnover as he was bringing the ball up court.

Hairy dude who committed the no-call then scored and was giving our guys grief. It's almost like teams are emboldened to foul us because refs are pansy-asses who won't call everything.

He didn't help lol but we DID NOT deserve to win.

I mean, we only lost by 4. I've said this before and I'll say it forever: you shouldn't have to be perfect to win the game, and you shouldn't have to win a game twice. Just because Robinson turned the ball over one time doesn't mean the refs get a free pass.

Our bigger problem was leaving probably 7-9 FTs out there, but IMO Kentucky played well enough to come away with the win, but Ayers spotted Clemson about 8-10 points, and that was the difference.

Leave it to someone on this board to pull up stats like that!

Is it time for a BBN email campaign?

Me after the blatant double dribble at the top of the key that not one ref called.

Mad The Rock GIF

Guys let’s don’t start this. We didn’t lose because of the ref. crew. And by the way last night Ayers was pretty even on his calls. If you really want to have to analyze the calls I would say the umpires were less consistent . But again to put the loss on the refs makes us look like sore losers.
It was just a poor performance by everyone not named butler and Oweh.

Like I said, we have to be able to overcome poor officiating. That’s what championship teams do. We couldn’t, so we didn’t deserve to win the game.

But if you look back in the history of college basketball, I bet you could count on one hand (and have a couple fingers left over) the number of times a guy got 20 rebounds and didn’t commit a single foul. That’s just absolute horse shit.

Let me ask you this , how many times did you see Oscar rebounding with one hand ?

Look how Amari habits of rebounding are. Look how Oscar was positioning for rebounding vs Amari. Coach Pope mentioned we got out rebounded by 10 in first half . In the second half we outrebound them by 10. I think that has to do more with old habits of rebounding and players attitude than ref crew.

Frankly, I was surprised at the return of the bad reffing when UK is in a game. I had hoped it was just a Calipari thing, but it's becoming more clear that the handful of the ones we know and love are definitely in this against fan base, not just Calipari (continued annoyance/defense of their boy Higgins?).

But isn't it strange on the assignments in these kinds of games? It would be interesting to dig up who in the NCAA makes the ref assignments, because I find it odd that we can't seem to avoid at least one of the handful of likely anti-UK refs in more important/higher profile games, even with Cal gone.

No one is saying we lost solely because of the refs. They were a big part in why the game ended up the way it did. And yes, good teams overcome bad reffing, but in this case the bad reffing encouraged more physical play by Clemson. It was a major factor, but not the main reason.

No calls on a team that plays as physical as Clemson empowers those players to push the envelope and see how much more than can do. There is simply NO WAY a team this physical had zero fouls for an 11-min stretch, and their one medium-sized dude managed 20 rebounds against two 7'0" dudes without fouling once.

And then there was the blatant Butler anti-bias - two quick fouls in the first half, then another ticky-tack within the first 30 seconds of the second half. From a guy who's known to play great defense without fouling, against a team that was clearly very, very physical.

No, nothing to see here - it was all just Kentucky being not as good as we thought, right?

This was brought up last night somewhere ( game thread ??) but I wish people would stay on topic .. there are a 100 threads about what went wrong last night but this topic is Roger Ayers . And Roger has an obvious issue with UK . We shouldn't overlook this , the sample size is large enough at 26 games. to see the guy is. crooked / biased whatever . It's a HUGE issue .
So lets remember Mr Ayers going forward and leave the discussion for one armed rebounds and turnovers etc etc to another thread .
I'm not a " blame it on the ref's " guy . I hate the crying in the game threads .. but that guy that got 20 rebounds pushed , shoved reached , hacked and didnt have 1 foul ? C'mon . And the calls on Butler were beyond critical to our success . All by accident ? I dont think so .. I think Ayers has a stick up his ass for UK .

I said this last year.. the Higgins thing was not good. I loved it, I loved that we got after him.. but ultimately, I think it put us in a bad spot with the officiating crews, who we all know, had Higgins back.

I also don't think the NCAA and College basketball cares much for Kentucky. It's a pretty isolated fanbase to one area (unlike teams like Duke and UNC), it's blue collar in the eyes of higher academia, Kentucky stands in the way of the more lucrative programs (again, Duke and UNC). The NCAA doesn't seem to favor the SEC either, which doesn't help.

Sounds crazy.. but I watch a lot of sports, and I have teams all over the place that I root for.. and I've never seen any team take a beating the way UK does. Never. Not even close. For every 1 game that seems to go our way (usually a team that we're going to beat anyways), we have 8 that go against us.

Thank You !! you were basically typing the same thing I was at the same time ... Ayers is playing a HUGE role in Ky losses . Along with our less than perfect play .

If I was Kentucky AD.. I would send some of this data out to the NCAA and just say "we will be watching this closely". There's hundreds of refs.. there's no reason why the NCAA can't pull one off if a school has proper cause and evidence against one.

And it's not like we're saying "We want to hand pick the officials!".. no, lol, we just want to exclude a few. Go give us three randoms from the Sunbet conference for all I care.

Refs were a factor in the game. Some would argue a negative factor in this game. That’s what’s being discussed here. One of the factors of why we lost. There are and will be more threads on other factors that added up to a loss. No factor is beyond reproach on discussion boards like this one.

I just bet against us when I see Ayers and a select few other refs are scheduled to do our games. The money I win helps soften the inevitable hose job.

Someone who is good with clipping and editing show Butlers 4 fouls .. his third , and maybe most crucial was a foul , I think he accidentally crashed into the guy pretty hard . But it seems like 1 and 2 were those that sometimes dont get called . And the guy is a potential defensive POY .. those type normally get breaks , not get targeted !

I noticed this also and every big game the list of 6 atleast 1 will be there reffing. During Cals tenure it was every game. There's 1000 refs but we get a rotation of 6 that hate UK in every big game.

Clemson went over the back on about 80% of their rebounds last night but that's on Coach for not complaining about to the refs.
YEs , they went over the back twice very badly ( yes I know thats incorrect terminology , but it is what it is ) and both times they simply called Ky ball.. yeah our ball but the rebounder had inside position and there Clemson dude went directly over his shoulders and head ... unreal . I'd like to see that clip too. in the 2nd half

let’s look at stats. Kentucky 11-18 at FT line , Clemson 14-19. That looks pretty even to me. And it looks like they got 3 more points than we did. The game was very close. …. If put this game on the refs we look ridiculous.

Personal opinion and I have some ref experience, Ayers is one of the best in the business and last night he was the best and most consistent out of all 3 officials.

3-9 in road games is eye opening.

I don’t think it cost us the game, but college bball officiating is awful. There is zero consistency, it can change from half to half. Unfortunately, no one important seems to care about it. What do they do with a bad ref? Promote them to the FF.

Did we lose because of the refs? Probably not, we should have been able to overcome it. But, no one here can make me believe Ayer’s doesn’t have an agenda against Kentucky. He’s been a POS for years. It’s obvious as the sun.

Couple of ridiculous calls/no calls that completely ****ed us:
- double dribble that not one ref could see?
- blatant strip on Butler on a breakaway not called
- big white dude went through Amari twice with no call
- Otega was hammered twice going to basket with no call

That doesn’t include every time down the court #11 was grabbing and hacking every arm he could find, no calls repeatedly.

Yeah, it was comical. But this will happen in 90% of SEC games this season, and it will be very difficult for this team. We just aren’t good at playing through physicality.

There is no one on God's green earth that will bend over and grease up for another human like one ref for another .. tighter than union brothers , blood brothers ,mama and papa , tighter than a frogs ass , bark on a tree , . honestly makes me want to vomit . I loathe it . Only thing that looks ridiculous is you .

It's honestly a great idea. I might start doing that.

Would be hilarious if thats how we get change.. Vegas sees the state of Kentucky is making bank by literally betting against a specific ref.. You want to talk about a quick way to get Ayers removed? lol.

It’s not that eye opening if you take the time to look at which UK teams lost those games and which teams we lost to.

From just scanning the list, the road losses include:
  • Gillespie’s 2008 team at UNC
  • Brandon Knight team at UNC (we struggled on the road that year)
  • Nerlins Noel team at Georgia after Noel had injured his knee
  • 2014 team at UNC and at Arkansas (team that struggled until getting hot in March)
There’s nothing shocking about the road losses we’ve had in Ayers reffed games. Our record in those games looks to me like it’s simply of function of Ayers being assigned to games played by some of our weaker teams and/or games where we played a legitimately tough road opponent.

I know exactly where I was for that Knight/UNC game.. I was at Atlantic City with friends for a weekend, doing some day drinking at the Tun brewery.. We fouled out I think 4 players. It was one of the most lopsided officiated games I had seen.. Kentucky didn't just have to deal with the free throws that UNC was given, we literally had no team down the stretch.
