Rivals' Mike Farrell Still Picking Harris To Kentucky

Earlier today he said that. Apparently some buzz is going in favor of Bama and Chris Fisher and Drew Franklin just changed their picks from UK to Bama in the last hour. I guess we will see.

Definitely would be the biggest loss of the Stoops Era. We can't lose in-state kids. We're never going to get the best from Florida or Texas so we have to compensate by getting the best out of our state. Harris is one of the best to come out of Kentucky, I would hate to lose him.

Harris has cut himself off from social media. I doubt they've asked the kid directly, and I'm sure that even if they did, he wouldn't tell them.
I'm not buying this "buzz" 2 days before his announcement when he's cut off contact where the buzz usually comes from.

Farrell was at the UA game when all the Bama kids were saying Harris to Bama. He's neutral. Going to keep my fingers crossed he's on to something.

Who knows what's going on. I do think it's funny that everyone suddenly changed their tunes within 5 minutes of one another. Matt Jones "heard something", Chris Fisher "heard the latest", and Loney suddenly "Isn't as confident" anymore. So what, did someone at his high school suddenly conduct a major conference call or something?

If it's Bama, so be it. We can get past losing him if it comes to that. I'm not throwing in the towel until he chooses Bama though.

They could almost field their entire special teams unit with running backs as many as they have on their roster.

Matt Jones dismissed Dawson as our OC a day before he was announced. I'll stick with the neutral national guy. If Harris leaves the state, at least I'm used to it. LOL

Could be that he's told the schools of his choice and the leaks are coming from one or both of the schools.

Harris has consistently said he wants the feel of family. This is also what Marrow said. IMO he stays home.

Alabama is a great program and seem to be in the title hunt every year but I don't think he'll have 'the feel of family' at Alabama. UK fits that mode much more than Bama.

#RollTide is now my revised guess for Damien Harris, way too many informed people telling me he's not staying home. #BBN

I just saw that too. Sadly I'm starting to think he's going to Bama.

As I mentioned earlier, I think he gave Bama a silent verbal and it leaked(or somebody leaked it) despite his proclamation that he's undecided. That's why all of a sudden all these "experts" are jumping on the Bama band wagon.

The deciding factor I think was UK's lack of a SEC level OL. Just a killer.

Do we know if Dawson ever talked to Harris?

I can't blame Harris if he chooses Bama over us. Great tradition and coaches as well as a chance to play in the national championship game every year. How can we compete with something like that other than offering closer to home. It would be like a great basketball player from Alabama trying to decide between going to Bama or UK, just saying. Wouldn't blame the kid at all and would wish him the best although I would be really disappointed in not getting him at UK.

Really leaves UK between a rock and a hard place re RB as they were all in on Harris. Your not gonna jet into Fla or wherever find a replacement, especially for a 5* RB 15 minutes from your campus.

Know I'll be ripped for this but so be it. Don't forget the guy who was his lead recruiter for over a year is no longer at UK.

Very surprised if true. Why would he have come to all our home games even the day after he was injured if he wasn't coming to UK. He has talked about how close he was to our players and coaches. Maybe a lot of false info coming out

He would have a better future at UK, RB are dime a dozen in the NFL, Bobby Rainey is better back in the pros than Trentt Richarsdon so it really doesn't matter where you go if you can play. Playing at UK is in his best interest.

Good luck to Harris and the other 9 elite running backs down there who
will all be fighting for the same ball. Doubt if he sees the filed much
for 3 years.

No, but I'm not going to be too excited about the way this whole thing played out if he does.

I don't wish him any ill will, but I sure wish he'd pick UK.

This is what I don't get from people saying "well, what can you do, it's a business decision...". Well, 9 other guys are down there for the same reason and they all have a high talent level too. This isn't basketball where guys move on after one or two years. It's a glut. I'm not sure why the business decision wouldn't factor in having 9 other guys in a one back offense that only gave the RBs 13 touches total in the playoffs. People around here talk about Shaun Alexander...Alexander played for Dubose and they won 4 games and 7 games his sophomore and junior years and he spent a decent part of his senior year injured. My point is he didn't go to Bama during a time period where they had the kind of personnel or depth of personnel that they have now. It's not like he cleared his path through 9 other guys.

Everyone likes to use the whole "There's not enough balls for everyone" against Cal when he is trying to get all of these players. Why does Saban get a free ride from the media for having an embarrassment of riches when it comes to elite players? I have never heard the media criticize him for having too many players and not enough playing time for them.

I look at in context of Kentucky basketball with him leaning, if he is to Alabama.

Alabama football is the equivalent of Kentucky basketball.

If you live in Alabama, and you are a 5 star basketball player, and you have the opportunity to come to UK and play your sport at the pinnacle of college basketball, do you stay home and play at Auburn, Alabama, or UAB? Maybe you do, but it really hard to say no, especially after you visit, and see what it is like in Lexington, the facilities, the crazyiness of fan base, the all consuming 24-7, you are it.

Now put yourself in Damien Harris' position. Kid has grown up in Kentucky and up until the last several years, his state university has had some good teams from time to time, but never, until Stoops, have they put an emphasis on football or wanting to compete in the SEC. Damien goes to Tuscaloosa. The same thing a basketball prospect would see at Kentucky is the same thing he finds in Tuscaloosa in his sport. Alabama football is the pinnacle. You are playing for a national championship. You are it.

As much as I would love for Harris to go to Kentucky. As much as I would love for him to help lead us the SEC Championship game, etc. etc., I can totally understand if he goes to Alabama. I would be extremely disappointed if he chose some place else besides Alabama if he was not going to Kentucky.... Hope he decides to stay home, but totally understand if he becomes part of the Tide

Why would he, I don't think USCw was ever in the conversation

The SEC level OL is coming, the offense should be much better EVERYWHERE in 15, in case you hadn't noticed, a lot of emphasis on recruiting AND in redshirting the Big Uglies..

Maybe Damien doesn't want to be the hero that all of this state expects him to be! Maybe Alabama is the perfect fit bc he doesn't have to go in with all the expectations of being a savior for a university....I dunno, maybe he has the competitive drive to think he can go In and unseat Derrick Henry as a true frosh. Then again, maybe he is throwing ppl a curveball a d will don the blue and white tomorrow....hell, I just can't wait til it's over.

The thing that worries me with this is damien seems to be a genuine, down to business type of kid. I don't think he will throw any curveballs or mislead people. Doesn't really go with the way he has presented himself. I could be wrong but he seems like the type to be straightforward.

I agree, was just throwing hypotheticals. Tbh, I don't think he has made his mind up yet, probably will tonight, like most folks do before announcing.

Well he still seems to be interacting with the current team on twitter so who knows. Tomorrow can't come soon enough.
