Two part question.

1. Why in the hell are there so many of them? There are 10 Rite Aids, 7 Walgreens, and 4 CVS stores in Lexington alone. Not to mention all of the Kroger(s), Wal*Mart and Meijer(s) stores. How do the Walgreens of the world make money when there are so many

2. Which one is your favorite. I go with Walgreens because they are the closest and have cooler stuff on clearance, usually. I know if I go in there for a real necessity, I'm getting bent over by the price, though.

1. Pharmaceuticals = bank. Tons of money in drugs.

2. I prefer Walgreen's.....don't know why but I do. However, my work just started a partnership with CVS. The drug coverage for my Nasonex is substantially cheaper through CVS than other companies.......so, I will be getting my drugs shipped home through CVS this yr.

I assume it is to make it easier to go smurfing for meth ingredients. And lots of sick people with limited incomes. Lots of stores insures that there is one close, so the poor person will fill their govt. payed script at it.

Walgreens is the most popular in my area. Two of them within 4 miles of my house.

So many pharmacies, yet you always find yourself waiting in line. We are all sheep that have been conditioned to depend on pills to right our poor life choices. So, the fewer pharmacies, the longer the wait. Also, with new regs limiting how many schedule 2 and other addictive medications each pharmacy can hold, you can see the impending problems that creates, including the need for more pharmacies, actually. While the controlled number of stocked meds is partially dependent on customer base, it's very hard to get re-evaluated and reclassified to hold more. So, if one pharmacy closes, it causes a shortage of those meds in one particular area- sometimes impacting an entire small town for months on end.

Walgreens can kiss my everlovin' ass. They have a habit of chewing employees up and spitting them out without concern. If you can't work for a good independent, Rite Aid and CVS seem to top the list of best chain employers. In my book, happier employers lead to happier/more satisfied customers. Also, most people fall into the comfort of familiarity with Walgreens, which normally makes them the busiest stores in any given area. This, combined with Walgreens' lack of concern for pharmacist to tech ratios, long hours, stacked shifts and hurried pace, lead to lots of mistakes by Walgreens pharmacies. Of course, if you don't work there, you'd never know this. You just show up one day and the pharmacist you'd grown to trust is no longer working there b/c they were forced to eat the blame of any random mistake which was caused by Walgreens' screwed up system and lack of compassion for their employees. Again, fvck Walgreens and feed them fish heads.

CVS mainly becasue I finally learned where the stock everything, and becasue they have the Minute Clinics in many of their stores.

At an intersection in the middle of Murray, there's one of each on three of the four corners. Evidently there's lots of sicks in Murray.

I go to CVS. The folks there are just nicer.

Actually, some people actually need help with a mental illness. It's hard for some to comprehend because they don't have that issue or had a family member dealing with it. You're probably the same guy screaming Robin Williams is selfish for committing suicide. Of course, most of us don't depend on drugs to right our poor life choices. We use them for when we get.....................sick/hurt. Crazy, huh?

I never understand why Drugstores are 24 hours in the suburbs yet have regular hours in the city. More so the latter... What you dont think youd have enough business in NYC being open at 1am?

CVS looks and smells like its right out of the late '80s. Rite Aids and Walgreens are spacious, nice, and don't have that funky carpet throughout.

I use Rite Aid only because I dont have an independent or CVS close. I would like to use drug stores that arent playing both sides: a candy aisle - aisle of diabeetus supplies or a cigarette selection - home oxygen supplies.

Right, because We the Consumer don't have a choice anymore...

Please don't vote you whiny, no-balled bastard.

I don't know the difference. I go there for neti-pot supplies. Whichever one is closest to where I am. All the same.

Can't believe they really quit selling tobacco. Can't wait to see what business ventures they get into in the future.

I stopped at a CVS in Louisville once and heard a guy go full Bill of Rights over not being able to get Marlboros there. Small world!

Oh, calm down. It was a generalized statement. Besides those that need meds, the waiting lines are filled with those that don't, Mr. Obvious. You disputing that?

Here, have another bottle of Viagra with your cheeseburger and cigarette.

Yeah, kinda shocking really, considering that 97% of their clientele are white trash.

I like CVS because often there's no cashier, and then as usually happens, when the u-scan malfunctions, you end up having to wait for the person that would have been the cashier. That's my experience at several DC CVS stores, at least.

Most doctors have become pill dispensers, nothing more.

Medicinal marijuana. They're just clearing the shelves to get ready.

I have only been to NYC one time, but there seemed to be a 24 hour Duane Reed store on every other corner.
