Rick Pitino

Apparently it must be, I hear Pitino can take Any players and win, why couldn’t he beat the superior talent if he’s so great?
That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. Show me one person that said that so I can make fun of them too.

It might be the biggest "what if" that college basketball has ever considered.

Pitino leaving Kentucky is the human equivalent of Lucifer's fall from grace. A total travesty of consequence for Pitino.
Of course: Pitino’s departure from Kentucky was tantamount to a biblical event that shaped the Christian world view of good vs evil.

What a horrible take.

😅😅☺️

Pitino did 3 things great as a coach:
1) Instilled confidence in his players. His kids (other than Rod Rhodes) always seemed to play above their talent level. See the Unforgettables as exhibit A.
2) Outcondition other teams in the preseason. Pitino's teams never seemed to tire before teh opponent.
3) Gameplan. He wsa a master at developing a game-plan to take the other teams' star out of the game (Tim Duncan @ Wake is the best example).

It was when the gameplan for the other team wasn't getting it done that Pitino struggled. Didn't seem to make in-game adjustments; just stuck w/ original game-plan and hoped it would turn around, which a lot of times it did. Every so often, it didn't, and we'd take a head-scratching loss.

Pitino is one of the best coaches ever but to act like he’s some basketball Jesus who would be coach K for sure is revisionist history. No telling if we would have dominated or fell off after awhile. I’m sure he didn’t change as a person and we all know the crap he got into at UofL. Word is he had a lot of issues at UK that didn’t get out. We don’t wanna end up with a Bob Knight situation or worse UofL. I’m thankful for what he did here and I’m thankful for Calipari.
Jesus? No.
Genius? yes.
He could (still can) take a team full of foreigners and 2-star kids and compete for titles.

I love Calipari, and i think Cal is the best at developing talent there ever was.

He took 3 different teams to the final four, and 2 of those teams had inferior talent to other powerhouses. Best player ive ever seen him have at UL was Russ Smith, and where is he now? Playing with Briscoe is Iran? Thats impressive.
Your hatred clouds your perspective. Its ok, he moved on, let it go.

He is so conceited that he doesn’t do it much, he does things without thinking about the consequences. He has lived his live the same his entire life.
SEXTINO has ruined his life and career a total dirtbag. Iona is a low class program and he left Loserville a sewer who may end up with the Death Penalty which they deserve

What did he do special at Iona? That story is a myth. Iona had been to the NCAA tourney every year but twice since 2012 and the two misses were NIT years. He took over a perennial Tournament team and is a genius for earning a NINE seed in the MAAC!
This is true. Tim had that program in great shape, at least from the perspective of the MAAC.
But I think there is a different caliber player now coming in, and I expect Coach Pitino to push to another level and have Iona as a very strong kid-major.

Ruined his life? He's been in movies, countless shows, been around the entire globe, met every celebrity possible, and is probably worth 50 million. I wish i could ruin my life.

We'll never know what might have been, but I think there is a reason Rick always moves on. Eventually the hyperbole and ego wear thin and its time to cash in those chips and go start fresh. Had he left UL in a similar time frame maybe he still has a reputation to protect?

No question he's a good coach. But he also obviously has demons and issues that, given time, always surface. We got the best version, and we really should be glad he didn't stay to show us the whole enchilada.

I don’t hate Pitino at all.
