From their scout board:

How many times does this need to be said?

> RonCo wrote:> I think Rick is under direction to stay away from as much media as he can right now.

Seriously, how dumb are these people? Do they not realize that their pathetic troll of a coach is more than happy to show up after a win? Hell if that 3 had gone, you couldn't have gotten him to shut up.

I'll give Forde credit for writing this at all, but I won't give him too much. As Bkocats said above, he's still a terrible writer. This article doesn't change that. Forde is just like a rat following the pied piper. He knows he has no other play. Trust me, if there were another play, he'd take it.

As for Rick, this is exactly who he is. He's the most egotistical man in coaching today. He thinks he is bigger than the rivalry, bigger than either university, and bigger than the state of Kentucky. This is a microcosm of his life. This is why he went to UL in the first place and then acted shocked when UK fans didn't just switch loyalty to follow him.

He flipped UK the bird that day and he ended his career against UK doing the same thing as he exited Rupp Arena for the last time.

Pitino is done and will not help forde going forward. He'll look for a young up and coming coach that needs a writer or a hype man for pay.

I think Rick needs to step down. Can you imagine the heat Calipari would take if he had been in 2 bad investigations in the last couple years. Missing multiple post game shows seemingly every time his team loses. The country would roast Calipari if he brought half the bad press that Rick does.

Rick Pitino was adored at UK where he did an incredible job.

Pitino made a greedy, prideful mistake when he left UK to go to Boston. That's according to Rick.

The former UK coach made an arrogant decision when he went to UL, and it was an arrogant, condescending move. A selfish move of epic proportion.

The UL coach did multiple stupid and immoral things at UL, including his infamous affair in a restaurant, having hookers in for recruits, and got a UL tattoo on his back.

The lesson here is, poor decisions in life can lead to a downward spiral if you don't place people in your life to tell you to get your act together.

When pitino retires I feel we will view him differently. It's hard to hate a guy who brought us back from the ashes and at lil bro we owned his ass. One day folks will appreciate what he did for our program at a time when only he could do it. I can't stand him as much as the next person but when I step back and imagine him retired or at Podunk st I can see where i would think more about what he did for our program than all the other bs

I truly don't see how UofL fans continue to defend this guy. One guy on Facebook says it's his pinky finger.
I had another say that it isn' a big deal but yet no one can tell me the last time a coach (of any team) gave another fan base the finger.

Y'all are not being fair to Little Ricky. No way he was flipping off the cat fans.

That was the 'come hither' signal to Katina. He needed his consolation prize. Poor Ricky had a tough day.

Rick's still angry that he didn't get hooked up with any of those hot prostitutes! the man likes the wild stuff!!

I hate to break this to you, but Rick will always be given accolades and be remembered as one of the games legends. It's that whole winning a title at 2 different schools, taking 3 schools to the final 4, overall wins and win percentage thing that's going to keep you from getting the whole "Rick sucks!" Narrative from being accepted.

Sorry.

Whatever he may accomplish in sports pales in comparison to paying for the death of a life he was partially responsible for creating. Facts are facts. The narrative is unimportant. That's not me judging his immortal soul...I'm not qualified to do that. But, I am saying that he will receive no respect or adulation from me because of that and all the other immoral things he's done.

Sorry.

This is probably being a bit too UK-centered (although Pitino's sophomoric actions today [flipping the bird, no-showing for pressers] give credence to this type of thinking) but do you think he is just waiting to hang it up until he has some success against UK again? With all the trash that's going on within his program, surely he can't be enjoying it any more. Just thinking out loud...
Once the NCAA hands out their punishment he may not have a choice when he retires from UL.

They're going to be really bad next year. They should have been really bad this year but they got 2 free agents.

It seems to me like a loooot of people are getting sick of Pitino's antics. He gets pissed really easily lately and he's made some careless and classless moves. I'm starting to think he's about done.

When reporters ask him who UK should go after once Gillispie was fired "I'd look at John Pelphrey or Travis Ford". Well I'll say one thing for Rick....his life would have been a hell of a lot easier had Mitch (or should I say Mike Pratt and some other influential people) went that direction. Cal coaching UK has been a nightmare for Rick and I honestly don't know if some of things that have happened over there lately would have happened if Rick didn't feel so much pressure to improve his recruiting because of what Cal was doing at UK. Go Cats!!!

In honor of Rick Pitino the "Cardinal Bird" mascot should forever be known as "FLIP" the Bird.

As we should always remember his respect for us.

I think the reason he acted like a jack-ass after the game, he probably thinks it was his last game with Louisville against UK and he wanted to end it with a win. See ya later, rick.

I feel so stupid for having read through this thread. Please tell me this is a joke. If not, please video the meeting you guys have to discuss your life accomplishments. That would make for awesome TV.

I don't agree.

He lead a very successful era here. If this is a response to him flipping the bird then that's misguided in my opinion too. If I was at the end of an emotional contest and somebody was heckling me I can't say I wouldn't react either.
Nope. You don't think Cal gets things said to him? Pitino just a sore loser and low class.

He acted that way because he is a spoiled child. No one should be surprised by anything he does.

I know I've asked this before, but I forgot... is all the hate for Pitino simply because he coaches Louisville? Did he say something in particular against the University or its fans?

Its a combination of leaving UK when the Cats were on top of the college basketball world and then eventually going to coach UKs arch instate rival.

People, it's not going to happen. Some of you haven't been alive long enough to know what a phone book is, now you want to erase my favorite time as uk fan and put a stain on it. ")

Seriously leave it be. He's two different people in my mind. The uk Rick, and that other one. Honeslty, he did more for uk than words can sum up sometimes. You might not like it, but it's the truth.
Disagree. When you get to the point you are giving UK fans the finger, you have forgotten the UK fans. He was a jerk when he was here, but he's gone well past being a jerk. Someone like him does not deserve to be hanging with the likes of Hall, Rupp, etc. Farmer's should come down too.

Keep Rick forever and leave his banner up. He's gotta love walking into Rupp, seeing his banner and wondering what could have been. He didn't nickname it Camelot for nothing.

That's what's so sad in all of this crap. Just imagine what could have been....

Pitino is a coward and I wish he'd never set foot on UK's campus as coach. It's not like UK wouldn't have gotten back on top. UK will always be a great program because we demand it.

Could care less what he did for us back in the 90s. Cal's done more in a shorter time and he's done it the right way. Pitino was always one big paycheck away from leaving town. People who worship the guy still are the ones who are a joke. He made fun of you behind your backs. And still does.

So much false in this.

Nope you can't. Just because he seems to be one of them now, doesn't change the fact that he put Kemtucky basketball back on the map.
Please. I give him credit for what UK accomplished under him, but what he did today changes that. You live in that culture for 15 years. You become that. Defend him if you want. Low class move from a low class person.

This needs to happen. We need to email or call people to voice our frustration at UK to have it taken down. Anyone have the emails or numbers to call? #takeitdown

Absolutely NOT. Anyone that doesn't remember or isn't old enough to remember what that man did for Kentucky should NEVER have a say in this issue. While I hate what's happened to him and how he's handled himself, he deserves to be in that arena more than anyone but Coach Rupp and Mr. Wildcat.

To those that remember, 'Don't let what he's become cloud your judgement on what he used to be.'
