Rest of the Season Prediction

7-5 at best is what I see - however based on the last two games it's very unlikely.

I don't believe we will go winless the rest of the season - even 6-6 Stoops may never recover from that.

I guess 7 and 5 too. Idk what 2 teams we are beating though.

Best case: 7-5 with wins over 2/3 of MSU, USCjr and UL.

Worst case: 5-7

Prediction: 6-6 with a win over UL

1. Pretty sure we win - MSU. Even on road...they are pretty terrible to be honest.
2. 40/60 to lose- USC and UL. Both on road but USC has been a mess up front. UL....hard for me to see even with new coach that they have made up that much ground given how handily we've beaten them
3. 25% chance...UT. Even at home...UT just smells like a bad match up for UK.
4. Hardly any chance....Bama at home. Even though they aren't great....UK can't score and their D is really good.

ALl in all, I'll go 2 more wins rest of way for 7-5 finish.

1 and 4, they‘ll split between MS and SC, though possible, they’ll lose both.
You don't know what will happen the rest of this season, and neither do the rest of us. You are blowing off steam because yesterday's game disappointed you. It disappointed me, too, but I won't sit here and pretend I can predict the rest of the season. Football is not that predictable.

I will say this.....IF they don't eliminate self-inflicted wounds they'll be hard pressed to win another game. But I think they will, at least to some degree, and that's nothing but my feeling based on how I think they'll work to get better. As to who they'll beat...I have no idea but don't forget, the remaining teams on the schedule are going thru trials and tribulations too, it's not just UK.

MAY be 1 win between SC and Louisville.
Rogers at MissSt will dink and dunk our anemic zone coverage, so I don't see a win there.
So 1 more win is my best 'optimistic' take.

Every team commits turnovers and makes mistakes. I doubt these can be completely eliminated, but I get what you are saying. UK lost yesterday's game pretty much because of penalties and blown blocking assignments. There were 14 UK penalties, and several of them killed UK drives. Aside from penalties and the final score, yesterday's stats were pretty even. If we had played a clean game, we could have won. And if we play 5 clean games to close out the season, we could finish 10-2. After yesterday, I don't see us playing 5 clean games. But our problem isn't talent. It's execution and football IQ.

Exactly.

Everyone knows we have played two-straight stupid, sloppy games and completely changed our season because of that. Our coaches know what has to be done. We have to play clean, intelligent football the rest of the way. After yesterday, I can't really express confidence that this team will do that. But it is certainly a litmus test for our coaching staff.

Rogers has been hurt, don't know his status. Their backup QB is Mike Wright, formerly of Vandy, who came to CWS last year and left with a W.

I think 7-5, but I'm not ruling out an out of nowhere win against mediocre bama and UT team.

Stoops is consistent. He loses games like this after the annual Georgia loss. He gets his team up to play Florida and Louisville. He loses in Starkville. He usually does well against south Carolina, but after Mizzou last night, I'm not sure that we can count on that.

If he can somehow find a way to beat UT, then all is right with the world, but that's a big if.

All road games except UT and Bama...

Hopefully I'm wrong but 6-6. That's typical after a 5-1 start. Last night was a BAD home loss after the beat down in Athens.
Here, I fixed it for you. It is typical for a Stoops team to eat a bunch of cupcakes and then tank hard. Same crap as last season and previous seasons. Once someone figures out their schemes and exposes them it's all over but the crying.

I went 6-6 in another thread. I'm sticking to that.

I wish that was true, but in reality we have played 5 stupid sloppy games and had the teams we played not been tomato cans we would have a couple more losses. After 7 games we are who we are, dont see much changing. Stoops has NEVER won an SEC West road game,so that rules Miss St out
Nobody with eyes can think we beat Bama or the Orange Stain. A fired up UL on the road, dont see it. That leaves USC on the road. Good luck with that. 0-5

This board is almost completely reactionary and bipolar. It's numbing. After a win (such as FL), everyone here is ready to conquer the known world. But after a loss, reactionary posters like you are convinced we won't win another game. These are emotional responses.

The truth is that our team has plenty of athletic talent but we underperformed against GA and MO. There are a couple of reasons. For instance, injuries, regression, inconsistency, dumb penalties. Penalties were probably the difference when we lost a winnable home game last week. The Horseman, our best offensive lineman, has played in two games so far because of an injury. Online commenter Aaron Gershon revealed last week that Dane Key and Barion Brown have been playing through injuries all season. That explains a lot. Against MO, defensive starters Keyshawn Silver, Trevin Wallace, and Jalen Geiger did not play. We can't use injuries as an excuse, but we should at least understand that they have robbed this team of experienced leaders and contributed to inconsistent play and regression.

What's done is done. But the future is a different issue. When people predict a 5-2 team will not win another game, they are blowing off emotional steam without using their heads. No one here knows what will happen in the next 5 games.

Mrschwump already made a couple of important points about this. If we continue to play sloppy like we have, this team (like any sloppy team) could underachieved. But OTOH, UK is hardly the only SEC team dealing with problems.

Each week is different. I wish Stoops-coached teams had a better performance history following bye weeks, but I can't sit here and prejudge how this particular team will respond. We all (well, most of us anyway) learn as we go.

AL and TN will play on TV this afternoon. This is a great chance to watch two of our next three opponents.

Still saying 8-4. Louisville is a rivalry game so it will always be Rowell played. MSU looks like a turd. SC is a toss up but overall haven’t looked great same with Tennessee. Alabamas offense looks as bad as ours does but they are still good so still an L.

An underachieving team with a lot of athletic talent is dangerous because sometimes a couple of substitutions, a couple of players getting healthy, or a strategy tweak can lead to a sudden turnaround. It depends on pride, and we are about to find out how much of that this team still has.

The season just hasn’t played out the way I hoped. Maybe the bye week changes that. Yeah…I know….naive!

Percentage chance we win:

Tennessee: 10%
Miss. State: 55%
Alabama: 1%
USCjr: 60%
Louisville: 49%

Sorry, we have no chance against Alabama. None.

You're making our point, Rembrandt.... After 11 years a Stoops coached team has shown what it is, and what it is not...

Was thinking about Alabama and how they have come from behind in 4 of their games this year....

Wondering what coaching goes into this to create a mind-set that all is not lost, and you keep playing the next play...?

I don't have college level experience, so what do the Alabama coaches tell their players, that we obviously don't? Or how do they say it? Interesting concept to me because our teams don't seem to have "consistent" and/or persistent mental toughness....

Go CATS!

p.s. this is a head coach issue in my mind

p.s.s. 7 - 5, but would not be surprised by 5-7 or 8-4

Tennessee - L - If they play us like they did at Bama - we are down 21-0 at half, we lose.
Miss. State - W - they are bad
South Carolina - W - they are bad, it will be close but we should win by a TD
Alabama - W - if we can get a nice lead and play lights out D in the 3rd quarter, I like our chances. Its going to be really cold when we host them here.
Louisville - W - this will be a war... the winner walks away with a 3 to 7 pt win.

7-5...8-4 if we somehow beat Tennessee this weekend.

2-1 against SC, MS St. and UL.

I don't understand this. I'm as down as anyone after losing two straight, but Alabama is pedestrian by their standards. They barely beat Arkansas at home. Why isn't it possible for them to lose to UK on the road???
