Refs for Game Today

Put Ayers in place of Greene
I'd actually do this:
1) Sirmons
2) Blind Karl Hess
3) Doug Shows
4) Pat Adams
5) Teddy valentine

Roger Ayers
Doug Sirmons
Pat Adams
Mark Whitehead
Michael Kitts

I ran out of space...

Edit: OK, put BKH on there too. We haven't seen Michael Kitts in a while.

Seems like when some officials show up you can count on a few "T's" during the game
Also a good official no one will remember them being at the game.
Some officials want to make sure that they are the center of attention &/or noticed during
the game. A good official hopes to not be noticed

I hardly ever complain about officiating. But, the game we just played in South Carolina was the worst officiated college basketball game I have seen in a while. It wasn't that it was one sided. It was just a bad job by on both ends of the floor.

I don't mind an occasional missed call or wrong call. The truth is there is so much going on, and it happens so fast at the Division 1 level, that it's going to happen sometimes. But, those guys Saturday were just inconsistent. One trip down the floor a touch was a foul. The next trip it was a slaughter house with no whistle. That kind of thing is uncalled for. I mean miss a couple fouls, no big deal, give the ball to the wrong team on an out of bounds play, we'll live. But, don't waffle on what a foul is for the entire 40 minutes. They couldn't make up their minds on an obvious 3 by Tyler Ulis, EVEN AFTER WATCHING THE REPLAY.

The game at Chapel Hill with the Julius Randle team.

That was criminal.

2014 @ Arkansas and this year vs Ku and Tennessee are the only games that I think were lost because of shitty officiating.

In Allen Houston senior year at UT. We lost by a point I think it was when he was at the ft line and through it at the goal and immediately followed the ball instead of waiting for it to hit the rim. He got his own rebound with nobody around and put it back in. The whole game was just like that.
We played them in Rupp a week or two later I think on senior night??? We destroyed them by like 60 points and he was held to single digits.
This is on 20 year old memory so don't hold me to it on every detail lol

It might have been in the tourney??? I remember them kept showing Houston and saying how his career ended so it might be the sec tourney.

It wasn't Houston who got the rebound. He missed the shot on purpose, then Corey Allen got the rebound, scored, and was fouled. Horrendous play by UK, mainly, although it is true that the refs did the typical last-second "swallow their whistles and let things turn into a rugby scrum" act on the intentional miss (a good example of why the idea that the "refs should let the players decide the game" can quickly turn into a bad joke).

UK played them a little more than 2 weeks later in the SEC Tourney, at Rupp, and won 101-40- the game that really kick-started UK's romp to the FF that year.

Found the play.

Few notes about the play, actually watching it:

Allan Houston commits an obvious lane violation, but it doesn't really effect the play.

Jeff Brassow and Junior Braddy are UK's back 2 on the lane, and both (particularly Brassow) get absolutely smoked by the guys they're supposed to box out. Those 2 UT guys might have left a split-second early, but it was very close.

Brassow's guy is the one who gets the initial tap, and Gimel Martinez almost certainly fouled him, shoving him in the back as he was trying the tip-in.

And the foul on Mash is exactly the type of foul that's been incredibly common for UK this year. As soon as he reaches towards the ball, he's screwed.

Was that the game where we were up by three with UT shooting? As I recall, someone made the first shot, missed the second and Carlos Groves made about a five footer and got "fouled" by Gimel Martinez. He then converted the FT to give UT the win. And we did beat them by about 60 later on in the SEC tournament.

Ok, just saw it, didn't scroll down far enough. Sorry, thanks for posting it.

Any game at Tennessee during the '70's and '80's. Games at LSU also ranked up there as well.
I fully agree with Catscratch on this one but I would add the 1960's when Mears was at TN as well. There were games there that were off the charts. Remember the 66 team lost one regular season game. It was at TN. I hated Mears and the little bald headed asst named Stu Arbauch (sp) The fans were terrible but the officials were the worst. LSU was another one back in the 70s and 80s. They NEVER sold out till we came to town. In fact the 78 team lost their first game of the season that year there. I wont lie to you, but they would lower that tiger out of the ceiling down to the floor and I honestly wanted to cut that rope when the tiger started going down. They probably still do it I bet.

You're thinking about Stu Abeerdeen, and he was very obnoxious. He later died of a heart attack while jogging on the beach in Florida or South Carolina, I think. Hate to talk about someone deceased but opposing coaches in the SEC used to refer to him as "The Cockroach".

"Sirmons has called games in the past three Final Fours. His experience in officiating at college basketball’s highest level includes Kentucky’s loss to Wisconsin in the 2015 Final Four. That was the game in which the referees missed the Badgers’ Nigel Hayes scoring an important basket after the shot clock expired. Whether that history played a part in Calipari’s ejection could not be determined.
But does smoldering resentment excuse the threat of violence?" - Jerry T.

There are way too many games that span way too many years to come up with an accurate list.Thinking back to the Vandy game,I think the FT attempts disparity was something like 25-6,if we come forward from that game I believe it is difficult to find a span of games that were more poorly called. It is no wonder that Cal went off the deep end( I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore comes to mind)
I remember a game at Knoxville when we only shot two free throws and UT got I think 26!! It was so unbelievable that I carried a box score out of the Cats Pause to show all the UT fans at work any time they complained about getting ripped off at Rupp. That would shut them up real quick!
