Reed's outlet passes

He's a great player with great court vision. It's a little early to say he makes the best outlet passes you've ever seen, though. Unless you're not very old...or haven't watched much basketball.

He is just a "basketball" player. The kid knows & understands the game. He is unselfish, maybe too much. He gets the other guys involved and just enjoys playing the game. The 1st time he came in last night he got 2 steals and 3 assists. He turned the game into UK's advantage. Shep & Dillingham are far the 2 best guards. Wagner makes too many stupid turnovers. He made 3 in a row in the 2nd half last night. If Perry can produce anywhere near what Shep has done, it will be a pleasure to watch 2 kids that understand how the game needs to be played

Kid has such an amazing feel for the game and vision. Needs to get smarter and be more selective. Know when to not throw it away, but that takes time.

Reed consistently makes some of the best outlet passes I've ever seen, leading to many of those quick scores we've been getting... rapid fire... as soon as he gets the ball. It's really impressive
Its really a special talent. He doesn't throw them, he flicks them and can do it from 75 feet! Looks like he's pulling back the trigger and boom. And uncanny how accurate he is with it.

Excellent observation. He’s ALWAYS pushing the ball down court. He and Reeves have started to develop and thing where if Shep pokes for the steal Reeves starts to take off.

You know who else relentlessly pushes the ball down court? Jokic.

Sheps court vision is elite.

One of Kevin Love's uncle, Stan Love played with Unseld in the NBA and Kevin studied film of how Unseld threw the outlet pass. Kinda of crazy that another of his uncle's, Stan's brother is Mike Love of the Beach Boys..
Stan is Kevin Love’s dad, not his uncle. But the rest of your post is accurate. Aside from Love and Unseld, another memorably great outlet passing big was young Bill Walton.

But the title of the greatest ever outlet passing center now goes to Jokic. But then the Joker is simply the greatest passing center ever, period.

Don't sleep on Arvydas Sabonis and the late Bill Russell.

Didn’t read all posts, so maybe someone said this already, but Reed is the best outlet passer I’ve ever seen at UK. Maybe college. Kid is a killer getting the ball up the court - quickly, precisely.

He is the best I have seen here on a constant level. every game this year he's done something that's made my jaw drop.

He sure did, but Wes Unseld is still the goat at it.
Agree. Saw WU play several times in HS and he could grab a rebound throw a mid court outlet pass before his feet touched the ground. If Rupp could have gotten him to UK the Runts would have been unbeatable. Side note to that Seneca team, Unseld wasn't the best player on that team. A guard named Mike Redd was. Shame he had issues that kept him out of college.

Honestly it kinda blows my mind he wasn't ranked higher coming out of HS.

He's been outstanding here.
High school rankings are as much political and biased as anything else news related. Depends on where you live, what AAU team you play for, what shoe company represents you, and if any agency is involved. Outside of a few can’t miss guys, you could interchange a lot of the top 150.

You all obviously haven’t been watching the games. Our best passer is Wagner. If he wasn’t, Calipari wouldn’t start him at the point. Wagner averages more assist than two of UKs greatest point guards in the Calipari era, which are Davion Mintz and Archie Goodwin. Archie took UK to the NIT and Davion Mintz was on that great 9-16 team. Those are the only 2 seasons under Calipari that UK started a PG that averaged less assist than Wagner. You all need to recognize the greatness of Wagner. He can get to the rim at will. He don’t always put the ball through the rim but he can get there at will.

Let’s just hope Cal continues to stay calm, cool, and collected and doesn’t ruin him come March. Please Cal. Show us you’ve learned your lesson and have truly changed!!

The one he threw from Miss St foul line the lenght of court to Reeves was Maravich class
Not only the physical pass itself, but the awareness and the vision to see it. He rebounded the ball facing the Miss St basket, landed, spun around and within micro-seconds saw Reeves and made the pass. Reed always seems to be playing 2 seconds ahead of everyone else on the floor.

He was taught well. Throw in lots of repetitions plus good genes and you get the perfect chest pass.
