Reed Sheppard committing Saturday

If he’s committing this early, then I’d think it has to be UK.

And for good reason. That kid is gonna make outrageous NlL money if he follows in his father’s footsteps. Purely from a financial perspective, it doesn’t make much sense for him to choose anywhere else.

I agree. It being on a Saturday is the only thing that gives me pause. If it was on a school day, I'd say you could take it to the bank.

Another good sign of it being this early is he’s in state. If he committed to anyone but UK I would think he’d want to do it later in the spring to avoid going to school with UK fan classmates that he spurned.
Not to mention he’s a 2023 kid so it would be this spring, next fall, and next spring. I assume he is not a reclass candidate.

Helps Cal in ways I cannot even tell you. Big time pickup legacy recruit. Good job Cal that’s what we want.

Jeff and Cal hate each other so much. He’s a “Pitino guy” through and through. Guess we’re just “lucky”.

He probably saw how Cal is playing uptempo and letting the guards shoot a lot of threes which looks favorably to him which he will want to play the same style of game...

I think he more likely saw how much larger his moneymaking opportunities are in Kentucky than in other states where his name doesn’t have mythical status. This is an example where I think the new NIL rules probably made a difference for us.

He’s gonna be crazy popular here. Get ready for Rex and Richie mania all over again. And, no matter how much playing time he gets, it still won’t be enough to satisfy our fans.

For all the reasons stated it would only make sense that he would come to UK. For every coach UK has ever had prior to Cal that it would be a slam dunk...no pun intended. I just don't see it. If he does commit to UK, I wish him nothing but greatness. I think he commits elsewhere and I think it will be Virginia.

Incredibly dumb business decision if so. Be a long 2 years getting boo'd in every gym he plays at and losing out on hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in NIL money.
If he was Mike Casey or Jimmy Dan Conner, or Winston Bennett or many other 5 star kids that were from in-state over the years, yes it could be called a dumb decision but they were all the very top recruit for UK and he is is not....Cal is all over one and dones that he can put in the league that will make it a life changing experience for the kid and him. I personally doubt very seriously that he will be boo'd everywhere he goes. I think the vast majority of people in the state, especially those who have followed UK for years will understand him not going to UK if that is what he decides to do.

1. NIL is going to be insane for him here. It won't be anything similar at any other program.

2. Crystal Ball is trending strongly UK this past week. There's a several page long discussion about Crystal Ball to be had--but in general, when everyone is trending a certain direction and the entire internet agrees--what's being predicted is what happens.

I know someone is going to point out times that they've gotten it wrong. But when everyone is in agreement like this--they're right an absurd percentage of the time.

I mean if he doesn't come to UK it would hands down be the most shocking recruiting loss in the history of our program, no hyperbole.

1. Both his parents starred at UK
2. He is a lifelong UK fan

If that isn't enough...

3. He already has some video thing he is doing on Twitter that is sponsored by White/Greer/Maggard. They are a major sponsor of UK athletics.
