The way Wynns has been raking he might be a frequent DH.From things I have been reading, looks like the Reds are going to roll with 3 catchers when Stephenson comes back.

As long as they are hitting, keep them in the lineup at DH when they aren't catching over players like Candelario. Give Callihan, Hinds or Johnson an opportunity. The way Wynns has been raking he might be a frequent DH.
Hope Stephenson is ready to go soon. Guessing Miley will be a bullpen add if and when he gets healthy? Hoping he told Candelario, he's on the bench as long as Marte keeps raking and playing as well as he has been. Not sure how they cut their losses and ditch that guy. He's a waste of a roster spot. Should just be released.
Absolutely. Jeimer is just in the way of Marte and Lux who are more deserving of the starts at 3B. Doubt there is anyone that can justify taking on his dead weight contract. We all here said it was a waste at the time. Eating the contract like they did with Moustakas should be on the table. Keep Marte starting at 3B as long as he keeps hitting. The work he has put in to improve his defense is nice to see. He frustrated me with his errors last year. Cleaned that up this year.Hope Stephenson is ready to go soon. Didn’t get to watch, but seems like Martinez is starting to come around. Even though his last start was a no decision I’m Miami, he wasn’t awful. Only allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings.Martinez 6 innings, one run. St. Louis has the highest team batting average this year, so this was a good start. Lux continuing to be one of the hottest hitters with 3. Marte got his 1st triple, and McLain snapped the hitless streak. He is the guy the Reds really need to get going now. Pagan has taken the closer's job and ran with it. 5 wins in a row now. 1 game back in the NL Central.
We were discussing Wade Miley and his role when he returns. His MRI did comeback clean after he had to exit the rehab start against Dayton early.Didn’t get to watch, but seems like Martinez is starting to come around. Just gonna say that I’m liking Francona so far. He doesn’t pull any punches. He also doesn’t panic and pull a pitcher at the first sign of anything going south. He gives guys a chance to work through it and pulls pitchers at the right time. Just wish the front office would quit hindering him with stupid roster moves and goofy contracts.
Sounds like it was a groin thing and not an arm issue. We were discussing Wade Miley and his role when he returns. His MRI did comeback clean after he had to exit the rehab start against Dayton early.
Do they still play the trumpet and do the light show when he comes in?Send Diaz down already
If they do it should be TapsDo they still play the trumpet and do the light show when he comes in?
I'm guessing it is to give the staff some rest pushing back a start since they don't have a day off until May 12th. The double header allows them to bring up an extra player for a day.Sounds like it was a groin thing and not an arm issue.
Did they bring up Petty to replace Greene because they aren't sure what the weather is going to do or something? Moved his start to Friday. Not complaining, because i like when the guys can get an occasional rest, but did they just not want to risk pitching him in a game that might end up with some delays or whatever?
And it’s backfired in a big way. Petty got rocked. First game was pretty terrible too. Only bright spot is EDLC extended his hit streak to 14. @cole854’s been pretty quiet about it.I'm guessing it is to give the staff some rest pushing back a start since they don't have a day off until May 12th. I guess they forgot Lyon Richarson can start and was already on the team. Brought him in a little too late when he could have started. At least he was able to give them good innings and can be an option to turn to the next time a starter exits early. This would have been a good start for Spiers if he was healthy. They took Randy Wynne off the 40-man roster who gave them 3 innings and 1 run in Baltimore. He has given the Reds multiple innings and 1 run in both of his career games. With Suter's durability to pick up multiple innings, those 3 today could have gotten through this one without taxing the rest of the bullpen. And it’s backfired in a big way. Petty got rocked. Mey is going to be exciting to watch. Reds relief pitchers are on a streak of 35 consecutive batters retired.Well-played game by the Reds today. Bats came alive after the rain delay. Ashcraft gave them some quality innings in relief. Mey looked the part in his debut.
I can't believe Zulueta there, had the easy out at home. Awful baseball IQ. Better have his bags packed for Louisville. Stephenson should just DH for now with Trevino's production so far.Stephenson is the 3rd best catcher on the Reds roster.
I imagine they will call up Rece Hinds this time around instead of Will Benson with Callihan's broken forearm. Benson has had his chances here and played for Francona in Cleveland to know he doesn't need to be back. Rece has been putting up some huge power and speed numbers in Louisville. Hitting for decent average but still striking out nearly 30% of the time. I don't imagine that is all of a sudden going to change by getting called up. They Hays does comeback this weekend, and hope Hinds will show some better plate discipline. .274, 7 HRs, 31 RBIs, 12 SBs is more than what Dunn is giving them right now.The Reds offense right now is anemic. I feel sorry for the starting pitchers. They have to make a perfect pitch every time just to guarantee the game stays tied. But the front office doesn't give a shit. Everyone knew the Reds offense needed help and they refused to go get it.
