Really wish Dakari had returned

He could have really helped this team out. If he could have averaged 12 & 7 this squad may have not lost yet and he probably would have been a top 15 pick.

It would have really benefitted both parties. He'd be a 15/10 guy and on a title contender given the field.

Agree completely. He would have helped this team
Immensely and also greatly improved his draft stock. It is a shame on both counts he did not decide to stay.

Debatable. If he comes back looking like he did last year, I question how much better we'd really be.
Based on what we've gotten (actually not gotten) from our post players, I'd gladly take the chance. I believe DJ would've helped this team tremendously. Did he have some things to work on? Of course, but I just loved how much passion and heart DJ played with. He was always trying to fire up the home crowd and the bench. Dude had a lot of give a dam* in him - several of the guys we have playing don't.

He would be great for this team. It's not like we would sacrifice his lack of interior blocking.

We would gain tremendously in rebounding. We would get some post scoring. We would still have lost a game, but we wouldn't have lost 4 games. I would say 2 games so far.

I agree. I think Trey Lyles is the guy that would have benefited us most with his mid range jumper and year of experience under his belt.

I think both Dakari and Lyles returning would have made a big difference in our frontcourt this year. We could have Ulis, Murray, Dakari, Lyles, and either Briscoe, POY, Willis in starting 5. I am still sold on Briscoe starting with Ulis and Murray. Then you could have off the bench Poy, Lee, and Willis if Briscoe was still in the starting 5. That would have been a perfect 8 and the front court would be much stronger with Dakari, Lyles, Lee, Skal, and Poy. There would be more options like last year when we had Towns, Lyles, WCS. Then Lee, Dakari, and Poy(before injured) off the bench. Would have been a different team this year.

At any other school he comes back for at least another year. Would have helped immensely.

Lyles sure. He's not a rim protector but he'd give you a post scorer. Booker would be nice as well.

8th time this thread has been made
Exactly.
He got stripped and blocked more than any big I've ever seen. He would have helped but this exact thread comes up every other week.

Guys, DJ took his credit card hops to the NBDL, if you're going to dream than dream big, Karl Anthony Towns is who I'd rather have.

The amount of players leaving early has gotten out of hand. I get it, if you have potential they want you but if you aren't a guaranteed first rounder why would you go? Just to avoid classwork? I'd rather work with Cal and showcase my talents on ESPN and have fun.
What do these players make in the developmental league anyway? Can't be much.

You get paid to do nothing but focus on basketball, which is the goal of all the kids we are getting.

These marginal guys look so great when they leave here, but it's because they can spend 40-60 hrs a week playing basketball. I have no athletic talent, but I could score ten a night in the D- league if I had no other responsibilities but practicing and working on my game.

Don't we have like 2 Dakari's on the bench already that don't play? Sure, Dakari's would of helped but I don't think he would of made a world of difference. Maybe take away the Auburn loss. It seems like every year people romantize the loss of a marginal Pro player and that he would make all the difference in the world.

DJ would have made a big difference to this team. He wouldn't have gotten pushed around inside, and Tyler would have gotten him the ball down on the block.

And had the NCAA implemented this new rule about declaring/returning 1 year earlier, I think there is a reasonable chance we would have had DJ back.

Last year, DJ was 4th on the team in PPM at 13.3 per 34min (behind Towns, Booker & Aaron), ahead of Lyles & WCS.
He was also 2nd on the team in RPM at 9.6 per 34min, behind only Towns.
And he wasn't even that far behind WCS & Lee in blocked shots (they averaged 2.3 & 2.2 per 34min, and DJ averaged 1.9).

Let's just say that dakari would helped more than hurt. Especially with what we are getting now
