Ray Davis MIGHT Play in Gator Bowl

I think all sides really see this match up vs a good Clemson team, and relatively recent mini dynasty/top tier championship program as a real opportunity for CMS and program.

A win would be huge for moral and momentum.
And for recruiting and bragging rights as well.
If our star players don't play, this may end up like last year game with Iowa...

Management expecting labor to complete activities for which they have already been paid to complete is indeed, amazing.

No, I’m not saying this is what is happening here, but the point is still relevant.
Well lets see the contract then. Management is usually prettygood when it comes to its employees especially when there is no union involved🙄

Indeed, a contract would be a solid solution. Currently everything is simply implied, at least in my view. Players expect to be paid to show up and play, and universities (or at least me as a fan) expect players to in fact show up and play, in ALL of the games on the schedule. Pretty simple, really.

I know this isn’t how the NIL “rules” work, so spare me if I choose to view things in terms of reality and not the fantasy world of NIL.

Getting in to the business of “negotiating” payment to bother to play in a bowl game is a bad precedent to set.

Labor expecting compensation for services rendered is indeed amazing.
He’s already been compensated well tho. His whole goal was to win as many games to get to a bowl, now you need more to play in said bowl? That’s like saying at your job, ok I’ve worked 11 months but for the last month ima need a huge bonus to finish the year.

He may receive a little extra compensation but I have to believe his reason to play will be based on an opportunity to increase his draft stock.
Maybe he's been advised that a good showing against a "name" opponent like Clemson is worth the risk of potential injury.
In other words it's a money game for him.

The details of how NIL is actually facilitated are still a bit murky to me. Are there actual contracts that are signed by both sides in some/all or none of the cases? I would think that putting the details (money, services rendered, etc) down on paper might not be something the programs want to happen. But, if I am a business owner sinking considerable $$$'s into having "Tommy Football" endorse my pizza joint, I would want every detail in writing. But, I'm thinking purely from a business perspective.

Only private entities can be involved. These may be coops formed to narrowly fit the description of "private," but I doubt Leary received 30K a month with no written agreement.

And whomever is providing the money obviously gains more from the deal the more success the individual attains. And playing in a televised bowl is part of that.

If the Football and basketball players dont want to play, check out UK Ladies Volleyball. Top 10 team that has fun. Tough match in Nebraska possibly against 1 seed if they get past Arkansas a 3rd time. UK supports have a lot going on in December. The games are quick. UK softball also entertaining. As long as we get a decent transfer QB UK supports are alive.

Your employer asks you to work an extra shift without compensation and you say “Sure”? I’d say pay me I don’t work for free.

I bet his contract was just through regular season.

A bowl game is part of the season. It isn't like someone caught the players by surprise and just told the players they have another game to play. They knew it was a major goal for the entire season and team.

What kind of fool would negotiate a contract for a player to only play the regular season but not include the bowl game (or playoffs for other teams not named UK)? I don’t watch sports only for the love of the game, there needs to be some sort of payoff at the end, a bowl or a playoff. If UK football gets to a point where they’re just playing twelve random games with no payoff at the end because guys are sitting out or transferring, I’m not wasting my time any longer. If UK only puts 85% of the team they played with all year in play at a bowl, I'm watching something else. I'm damn sure not going to a bowl to root for 85% of the team I watched and rooted for during the regular season. I’m replacing the time spent watching and going to games with something else.

All I'm gonna say is if I was paying for a big NIL deal for a player and they didn't play id be pissed.
The contract would state "if healthy ______ must compete in every game scheduled including post season games, if player decides to sit out deal is void and must be repaid".
If this wasn't possible I wouldn't be fronting a deal.
