I've seen it mentioned once or twice, but what are the chances, if we strike out on Brown and Murray, that Cal might go this route? He was never charged..............

-------He'll be able to play immediately due to the NCAA's graduate transfer rule, and Sulaimon said that he has been contacted by more than a dozen schools -- including Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, George Washington, Houston, LSU, Maryland, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, SMU, Texas, Texas Southern and Texas A&M.

"I've thought about this a lot and talked about it with my family," he said. "I have aspirations to play at the next level in the NBA and I think my best chance of doing that is to first get my degree and to transfer to another school."--------

I don't think the desperation has reached that point, certainly not with a top three recruiting class coming in.

Then he can get kicked off of our team, and then we'll win the NCAA.

Sounds like a plan.

I'm surprised he's considering anyone except Louisville. I think that's where he goes.

Poison.

Not defending Sulaimon or pro-Sulaimon or anything, but from some of the stuff I read, there was a rift there between him and Coach K. Not sure what to make of that, but not so sure it's all about his attitude based on stuff I've read from former dook players who have said that K's behavior during practices and when the cameras are off can be very demeaning/grating and is something that gets under a lot of guys skin and I think Sulaimon just had enough of it and probably lashed back which created the rift. I am thoroughly in favor of a player doing what their coach tells them to - within reason, but I do not fault a kid who is tired of a coach running them through the wringer and voices their displeasure with it either.

Nah, sounds like a Louisville Man.

Yep, a fitting turd for the birds, plus he already comes with his own ankle bracelet.

A Knight disciple being "demeaning"? Come on, that's crazy talk.

Can you imagine? Duke kicks Suliamon off. They lose only once the rest of the way en route to a national title, in a year where UK clearly had the best roster. UK then takes Suliamon the next season? C'mon. The principle is enough to stay away.

I don't think Cal would be interested in him...and I don't think Sandy Bell is either.

Sulaimon signed with Duke in 2011. He also had offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Indiana, UNC, Oregon State.

Aside from all the baggage, just the fact that Duke got markedly better after getting rid of him is rather telling. No thanks.

Making up things is not cool

Take a guy like him especially from duke would be like hitler giving two thumbs up to a speilberg movie. Once you go to the dark side there's no return. Especially if it's duke related

I think your on to something there Hijack, run that by Sandy Bell(insert snicker).

I'd take the year off as a fan if we signed a Duke retread. How could anyone suggest such a stupid move?

WTF?

Uhh...you do realize that this bizarro comparison equates UK to Hitler, in addition to making the Speilberg movie sound like the bad part of the whole thing.

No one has said it, but he's actually not very good. Off the court drama aside, he can't play at this level, or at least he hasn't shown that he can

My goodness, the nonsense some of you guys throw out. As a freshman, Sulaimon started and averaged nearly 12 ppg game for a Duke team that was ranked in the Top 5 throughout the season and reached the elite 8. He was one of the most promising freshmen in the country that year. And as a sophomore he averaged nearly 10 ppg while alternating between the 6th man and starting SG spots.

Look, I don't like the guy and don't want him, but to say "he can't play at this level, or hasn't shown he can", as if he's some sort of benchwarning no talent scrub, is a laughably dumb statement. He certainly does have the talent, and HAS shown it, the reasons we don't want him are not because of his ability, they are because of the other baggage.

Sheed didn't (or wouldn't) fit in THAT group.......he had a role to fill, but he wanted to be the man. He wasn't happy about getting the bench when K saw a better team without him in the line up....but he could definitely play.....

it's not rocket surgery...

Gotta disagree with this. Soulaimon is very talented. He can absolutely play at this level.

And was trending downward.

Before the issues ever became public, his playing time and productivity kept dropping. He definitely has the talent to produce, my point was more that it doesn't appear that anyone would actually be getting that production at a high-major D1 level.

If he had been having problems, but also posting 20 a game for Duke, I'd wager he finishes the season and/or his career there. Guys who can play are given a ton of leash all over the country, ones who don't have the game to match the headache are sent packing.

It's like the NBA teams that gave Royce White a chance. Sure, he CAN play, but you aren't going to get that production, although the reasons are different in this case. Same with Josh Hamilton in baseball. Same with Ryan Harrow here. The player they were or could be, and the player they are, are often different things, and the player Sulaimon is made Duke better by losing him.

I should have articulated that better in my original post.

Before he was dismissed he was Duke's best three point shooter. He's shot over 40% from three the past two seasons. His production decreased with his minutes because he was on K's bad side. The kid can play.

Just because you think a team is better without him than with him doesn't affect his individual productivity. What would you say about Wiltjer and his productivity at Gonzaga? Sometimes a kid just needs to find the right spot for him.
