Yeah we can definitely be better defensively but I’m tired of teams making more FT’s than we attempt especially at home.

I didn’t get to watch the game today, was losing money on the golf course. Sounds like Nelson was allowed to push off with his off hand to get his shot off in the first half was that correct? And I heard Sears was flopping at the end, was he

Sears flopped on a 3 point attempt and was rewarded with a foul. It was borderline. Then a few minutes later a similar amount of contact for almanor was a no call and it took away a 4 point play was taken away. Well opportunity was taken away
So, all of this when the total fouls called were 25 to 21. Bad calls were made in the game but the number of fouls called didn't beat us.
Nelson got a call every single trip to the basket. Carr drew contact in 3-4 possessions and they swallowed their whistle. I don’t understand it at all.
I think brea fouled him. Sears came off a screen and pulled up. Brea was kinda caught between sears and the screener. It was a tight window and he definitely fouled him. Tough break.
Refs were fine we are to slow & Coach is going to have to zone more
I’m not pissed about the fouls called on us as our lack of athleticism gets exposed against some teams, but the fouls not called on Bama especially some on Amari and others were BS…
When they shoot 34 free throws to our 20 in our building, something isn't right. They scored 29 points off of free throws to our 16. Yeah, I agree consistency would be nice.
10 of those FT's were when Kentucky was trying to extend the game, hence the somewhat artificially high score. It was at 21-19 with like four minutes left, and KEntucky was down 6.
True. But to a point, in the SEC UK has shot 113 to 150 against SEC opponents.

Indeed! Who wouldn't want to spend all of their free this in in this great Mecca of positivity and wisdom! I thought Alabama looked pretty good today. I thought we looked a step slower at times, although we looked pretty good too. I do think we never quite get the home whistle that maybe some other teams tend to get.
If there is one thing I wish was understood here it's that not all games are going to have an even number of fouls/free throws for each team.
Getting to the line is a skill.
Not fouling on defense is also a skill.
And no this doesn't mean that all refs are fair and call the game perfectly. It just means that one cannot simply look at a free throw difference and conclude the game was called unfairly.

Plus a lot of the free throw difference today was us fouling at the end to try and get back into the game.
Sears even flopped while laying on the ground once. They called a foul on Butler, and Oats talked them into going to the monitor because Butler allegedly grabbed Sears around the neck. (According to Oats).
I usually think you’re a good and insightful poster, but Butler definitely did have an arm wrapped around his chin/neck. It was an accident trying to play the ball, so the monitor review was a little overboard, but if that’s a play you’re citing as an example of a bad call related to flopping, it really isn’t helping your case in my opinion.
The way I saw it, Sears snapped his neck backwards for no reason while laying on the ground.
I thought he was trying to coax a foul in what is typically a jump ball situation. Worked.

Fans that blame the officials after every game are awful. I don’t really remember anything crazy awful from today’s game. A few missed calls, of course, but we can’t stop anybody on defense right now.
I mainly agree with the OP. Having said that, I thought the Georgia game was terribly officiated and directly attribute it to that loss.

Looking at numbers like that tells nothing. Look at the beginning of the 2nd half. UK came out and took control. Oats starts bitching and all of a sudden UK gets nailed for foul after foul to put Bama in the bonus with 14 minutes left. Completely switched the flow. Then once the game was squarely back in Bama’s favor much later some ticky tack ridiculous calls went against Bama to “even it up”. Then everyone can say look at the box score.
Why don’t you tell that to Pope since he felt the need to contact the league office.
The officiating that is going to matter is in the tournament. When you play in the NCAA tournament with officials from other conferences, it is going to be interesting. The aggressiveness and the ability to play football in the SEC is not going to happen in the tournament. I watch games in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12 and no other league allows the physicality that the SEC does. It will be interesting to see how some of these teams will react to a closely called game.
First time seeing Oates in person. What a whiner. Spends every trip begging for calls. He was Bama’s mvp today. Sour droll guy.
Knew we were in trouble when he got his offense in front of him in the 2nd half. 5 minutes in fouls were 9-2 in his favor. I think they were in the bonus alter 6 minutes.
Refs standing next to Oats listening to his vociferous whining. Why? Looks terrible and it did influence them at the start of the 2nd half. We had 10 fouls in no time. Bama in the bonus 6 minutes in! UK in foul trouble and frustrated.
CMO finally walked out to talk after that blocking call and seemed frustrated. Only time I saw the refs down by our bench but they spent a ton of time listening to the constant whining of Oates.
Being a respectful good sport doesn’t seem to be helping Mark. I think he’s gonna have to start fighting back.
Lost some respect for Oates. Good coach but he is a sour crybaby. Wimp would appreciate him.
Oates wasn’t complaining to the ref, he was telling him “Yes, the money is there.”
The way the refs were constantly visiting with Oates I assume they were getting cash after each individual call in his favor.
It looks bad watching them constantly standing next to and listening to him ever complaining and not even getting near the UK bench.
It’s not the number of fouls, but when they were called. The 10-2 number in the first few minutes changed the complexity of our team. Yes, the refs leveled them out somewhat later, but the damage was done.
Coach has made multiple comments that we have to learn to play how the refs are calling the game, but a foul should consistently be a foul.

I actually thought the first half was called pretty well but the second half was ridiculous. We out fouled them 10 to 2 in the first six minutes putting us in foul trouble and them on the line. Now how can you out foul a team that is going to hold or bump on every cot?
