Question for the board

I'm considering changing cable providers, the local one is phasing out of the business. They have partnered with American Cable (Dish)
Anyone have any thoughts or advice. I can continue with the same one for about a year or change now before the rush to do so. Thanks guys(or gals)

If you go to streaming I love my YouTube TV for all my live stuff. It's about $90 a month now you get all the channels you basically need and unlimited recording. I also have all the other streaming stuff too like Netflix, Max, Paramount +, Peacock, Disney Plus, Hulu, and Apple TV.

Get YouTubeTV or SlingTV Orange with the Sports Add On.

I ditched cable sometime around 2017 or so.

Sling orange is decent and cheaper but occasionally you get dinged by a game that’s only on CBS or something.

Get Youtube TV and quality internet. Gives you all the ESPN channels and local channels. Havent missed one UK game switching over.

YouTube TV for sure if you are dorky enough to want to watch four games at once. Almost every night I’m watching just about everything I can. Can’t beat it

Youtube TV is the go to IMO. Multiple devices, tons of channels. Allows you to travel and log in at different locations. Pretty handy and convenient. Although the cost has continued to rise over the years, its still worth it and checks all of my boxes.

I re-subscribe to SlingTV (Orange) in November and cancel in April.

Covers 95% of SEC and ACC games. Love recording them. And cancelling in April makes my wife much happier.

Switched to Youtube TV once AT&T fiber hit my neighborhood several years ago. AT&T give me HBOMAX for free with the internet service to boot. Love not being tied to a box and the high cable prices, but the best is being able to watch Youtube TV anywhere (home TV's, on my phone, iPad, and even on the smart TV in my office).

I use Hulu+Live, got Disney+ and ESPN+ free. Haven’t had any issues. $80/month. Unlimited DVR. Only thing I don’t like is the inability to go to last channel viewed with one click. And then menu isn’t set up the way I would like; but overall much better than any cable I’ve ever had. Haven’t missed a game.

There are some big changes coming to sports streaming in particular and you might want to wait for the dust to settle before you have to change and then change again. Also factor in what internet costs you. I see people say YouTube or Hulu are $XX but they always forget to factor in the additional ~$100 for internet access. Combine it all and some of the cable bundles might be better values (doubtful but possible) at this point. All told my bill is basically the same now as when I had cable but I have to jump from app to app to find what I was watching.

My internet is $30 dollars and if I take the dish package I get 20 off that for 2 years.

If you get food Cat games coverage and yours is cheaper than the alternatives then ride it till the end. However if they are comparable then ensure you don’t have a small data cap on your internet and go YouTubeTV if you want the Cadillac service. They seem to be king right now.

YouTube TV is the way to go. Fubo TV doesn't have the Turner Sports channels right now, (TBS, TNT & Tru TV) and would be missing NCAA Tournament games.

That’s what I use and it’s miles better than dish or direct-tv

It's terrible for sports like the Reds and Bengals. All the stupid local game blackout stuff, and asking me "if I've moved". I hope that one day "blackouts" are no longer a thing.

Perfect for Bengals. Reds are a no-go because that’s Bally Sports. Pretty much an exclusive to DirecTV unless something changed in the last two years

I would give anything if I could go back to my cable service over this streaming crap.

I am now paying more for streaming than I paid for my premium cable service and sometimes the streaming for ballgames, especially on the SEC network flat out sucks.

Yep. Linear cable is going to die and it’s honestly too bad. If for no other reason than the quality was so damn good like you pointed out. I was quick to ditch cable but I’ll say a decade or so later it was better than what we’ve ended up with.

When pretty much everyone replies with an internet cable streaming service (YTTV or Hulu), you know what you need to do. Go get one of those TONIGHT, cut your bloated cable bill, save money, and never look back.

Its probably the one thing everyone on this forum would agree with.
