Hearing that Drew Barker is 100-percent and ready to go for fall camp. He's going to be getting a lot of reps with the ones. "Nothing holding him back," one person with knowledge of the situation told me. Obviously I'm not predicting that he goes out and wins the competition, but it's worth mentioning -- indeed, we have to -- that Mark Stoops says Kentucky needs there to be a competition at quarterback. Was he just saying he wants it because it pushes everyone? I'm sure some will read it that way. But I will tell you, there are some who believe it is too early to count Barker out.

If he has a very strong camp and Johnson were to struggle, where does that leave Kentucky? There is a segment of the fan base that would have a hard time understanding going against Johnson after he finished the year 7-4, but I would not be surprised at all if we hear a lot more about Barker's play in the coming weeks than most people might have anticipated a short while ago.
