Pump the brakes on Dillingham playing next year

I could see him deciding to play for the G-League or continue with OTE for an actual paycheck but I do not buy any issues with Academics eligibility. I took Kerwin to school about his claims that non-accredited HS students couldn't be accepted into UK or most other colleges and will stand by that I still believe, at least on the academics side that he will be fine.

I’d rather have a junior or senior guard that was way above average at a power 5 school , or elite at a mid-major than an 18 yr old one and done most of the time . Not as much a big, physical 4 or 5 …but a guard , I’ll take the experience and proven commodity that wants a final four , etc
Respectfully disagree. Give me talent over experience, especially if Cal is still the coach.

Honestly, not sure if Dillingham is what we want anyways. He’s 160lbs. He’s a little boy. He can’t match up physically with these 20 some year olds in the tournament. Yes he’s super quick. But he also shot 33% from the field this yr, as well as 33% from 3. Do we really want someone like that ? Less freshman and get some guys to come back as well as a couple proven and older transfers

So good enough that the G League wants him but not good enough for UK?

I enjoy Rob Dillingham as he’s fun to watch. He also is a very “cool” prospect which we definitely need. BUT and this is not revisionist history, there are reasons he isn’t an elite prospect. IMO he had a disappointing year at OTE. He shot 34% from 2 and 32% from 3. That lack of efficiency has been consistent through his prep career since I’ve been following. He does have monster spectacular games that get all the highlights. But just think about that. Those crazy highlights you’ve seen with all those tough makes and great finishes still to be having those shooting numbers. He also has a very slight frame that hasn’t really changed over the years.

Rob is more valuable to the program as the person/hype than he is player especially factoring in how much easier it is to replace guards in the portal than it is to find a 4 man for instance.

Or maybe the mods could give me my account back that I had for a decade and they perma-banned for being anti Cal before it was cool?
Same thing happened to me being an early critic of Billy Clyde. Although, it was only a couple years old. Still no clue why. I think folks that know me would say I'm not the type to get out of line or press the rules.

So if Dillingham didn't do what he needed to stay eligible that's on the college coach that he has yet to play for?

Give me a break. Plenty to bash cal over but not this if true.
So Cal had no clue that a guy who went to a fake school created by nutcase West could be trouble?Sure.

If Dillingham doesn’t play then Calipari really needs to push Reeves and Livingston to return. Then go after another shooter/ball handler in the portal

Ugonna might transfer, Livingston is probably transferring those rumors are now getting louder and louder, dillingham may not play here. Top that off with a terrible 3 year stretch, Kentucky basketball is might be fully cooked
we suck again GIF

I just don’t see Wagner/ Dillingham wanting to share the backcourt. If I think what’s going to happen happens, it’s a moot point anyways.

Suddenly, despite knowing all along that Wagner was being recruited, Dillingham woke up one morning after he'd signed and realized that meant that Wagner was going to be playing on the same team! He immediately set down, rested his head in his hands, and uttered a low groan, so deep and resonant that Kentucky fans a thousand miles away could sense it.

If he doesn't show up Cal MUST get a PG out the portal that is can actually shoot and guard water bug PG's, no way I wanna see Wagner trying to guard these little PG's next year.

I've already moved on to football. Excited for the upcoming season.

Kinda like I used to be for upcoming basketball season. No more. I simply dread it.
I’m excited for leary and the weapons Kentucky has for sure. But it’s going to be a really long 4 months. April- early august is worst time. I enjoy the nba playoffs and love soccer but both those don’t come close to the college football & basketball & the nfl for me

This honestly might improve the team. None of the incoming recruits are known for being good shooters except for Shep. If Dilly doesn’t make perhaps we score a seasoned shooter from the portal. I really don’t think class is going to be everything it’s cracked up to be. Losing Livingston would just suck. He’d be the perfect stretch 4 next to Ugo/Bradshaw.

I thought Ugonna said himself that he was coming back to UK just the other day?? Seemed excited about it from what I read from his direct quote. Where are you now hearing he might transfer?
Jack Pilgrim. His handlers say they were lied about NIL not received.

But again. We’re in roster management issues with Cal. This is why each year is failing.

At this point we’ll have one PG (and Wagner isn’t. Exactly a seasoned PG). And now we’ll be portal shopping to fill out a roster

Here we go…the dream class is falling apart

I'm not a fan of Dillingham nor do I think he's a fit for a Cal team. But if he comes here I want him to play well.

I didn't want Wheeler either when Cal was recruiting him. I wasn't asked then and I haven't been asked about Dillingham.

Might need to target this guy:

The best player in the transfer portal will be Princeton's Tosan Evbuomwan. Has another year to play but the Ivy doesn't allow fifth-year seniors. Averages 15 and 6 and led the league in assists. Good enough to start on any team in the country next season. - Seth Davis
