Prime time ahole

I get this is how it goes down behind scenes. But no reason to talk to kids this way publicly
Maybe not the best comparison, but Tom Crean said something similar when he took over Georgia. Not about the transfer portal but about the (lack of) talent on the roster. And Coach Cal was very public when he took over that you can stay here, but you won't play.

A camera crew was going to be there regardless. it's a newsworthy hire.
I understand that, but he could’ve delivered that message when the cameras weren’t there. He didn’t have to let them in as far as I know. I have no problems telling his team that there’s going to be some guys that should leave.

Especially with him already announcing his son as QB1, it’s hard to see that his message is work hard or get out. I have no idea how good or bad Colorado’s QB situation is or how good his son is, but to announce a starting QB before that QB is probably even officially enrolled in the school, doesn’t send the message that those Colorado players currently have much of a chance or will be given a fair chance.

No it’s not what he said. It’s in black and white to read

That may be the underlying sentiment…but that is not what he said

In the end, he’ll probably be success at Colorado. But these are still somebody son and kids eventually. I just hate to humiliate these kids publicly
black and white... isn't context or inflection... I did not listen to the whole speech, to busy...but that would clarify if he is the asshole, or if he is clearing house of assholes

Same message you are saying here could have been handled in a dignified and respectful way. That's my point. Instead, he chose to handle it in the "prime time" way so the cameras could capture it all. So it was more a self centered act than one that was "not filling kid's heads with bullshit".

That was dignified and respectful. By their questions, you can tell they probably deserved way worse.

The school and other media videoed it too.

Not sure there will be a time when the cameras aren't there. That's part of the package and why it was such an incredible hire for a struggling program. it instantly puts them in the living room of every player in America all the time

Pump the breaks, lol. The competition level is going to be much better. He could easily sink. He out-talented a lot of schools early on.
If you can get talent to Jackson Mississippi you can get it to Boulder Colorado. Even though they are a struggling program they are still a P5. They have the money and resources.

See UK football. The fan base, money, boosters and willingness to support was always there, just had to tap into it and commit to football.

All Deon has to do is do what the great buff program of yesteryear did…tap into LA talent. If Bill McCartney and Rick Nuehisel can do it without social media, NIL, 24/7 sports talk buzz…Prime Time can do it with those things plus his name, brand, platform, and big corporate connections

He will absolutely win the living room and snatch kids from Chip Kelly and Lincoln Reilly…

It won’t happen overnight and it is a step up but a step up into the PAC 12…the conference Utah just won…utah lost to Florida who lost to uk who lost to Vandy

It’s called a life lesson. If the players complained for years that the coaches make all this money and they get nothing.well what happens if a coach loses, yes, he get fired. Now in my mind if a player in high school comes to UK and demands NIL that’s fine but he has to produce. If he doesn’t, real simple, kick him out through the transfer pool. Players can’t have it both ways. Coaches lose, they get fired. Players lose and they get fired via the transfer pool. Harsh but so is life. Either grow up or work.

The reason Deion loves the "prime time" moniker is because he's never met a camera he doesn't love. In the end it's all about him. Saying the shit he did to the Colorado players was made public via twitter and YouTube within a few hours after it happened. That's how the guy rolls.

He basically called all the players "losers" publicly despite the fact he knew none of them, he knew nothing about the circumstances for each, he had no idea of the previous coaching the players got or didn't get. In the end, the coach who wants to tell everyone how he loves his players and does things the right way, did things the exact wrong and pathetic way from the beginning at Colorado.

He was easily able the be the tallest kid in the classroom while at Jackson State and their league. Won't be as easy to be the tallest kid in the room in Power 5 football. He will get the talent to come play for him for awhile, but he's going to need to coach them up and develop them. He needs strong coaches around him that can do this.

Anyways, Deion is simply a show. I accept it as nothing more or less than that.
Didn’t see him call anyone losers, but what word would you use to describe players that lost 11 times and won only once.

I don’t think you need to know the players to understand that they did not win football games this years.

Goodness we have fans wanting stoops gone I imagine after a 1-11 season people would call our team more than losers.

K_Time you were never in the Military were you?

I understand what you are saying and I agree to an extent.
But when our government started the NIL things changed and now many… many… many of these college athletes make more in a couple years than so many normal hard working people make in a lifetime.
NIL turned collage sorts in to a open bidding war and once a kid signs a NIL deal.
Well I think of it as a job that your required to do and perform as us normal people.
Coach Prime was brought in to win games and when that happens these kids will reach their dreams of playing in the NFL or get a free education.
I go back and forth in my mind what’s right.

Yeah he may have meant it one way but it didnt necessaril come out like he wanted. Ok to say if you dont want to compete hit the road, but i think he also slipped in a little . . . "and if you aint that good to start with hit the road too!". Which is disrespectful to kids who committed to the program long before he did with his multi million dollar deal. When he said he wasnt going to put up with the nonsense anymore I dont think he was talking about anything but losing.

I think I agree with you. How can his message be to be ready to compete for a spot when he said multiple positions were already taken care of because he’s bringing guys with him? Not saying the guys he’s bringing with him suck, but if I’m a Colorado player in the locker room I am definitely thinking Deion is going to favor the Jacksonville State guys and I’d be worried I wouldn’t get a fair shake and chance to compete.

Yeah, can you imagine Stoops doing that? I can imagine him sharing a similar message but to publicize it like they did at CU, that's a bit much.

Stoops would’ve been ridiculed to no end if he said those things in the way Deion did. People have been bringing Cal up and comparing some of the things he said. There’s nothing wrong with saying “I can recruit the best of the best.” Cal spoke glowingly of UK as a program. Deion didn’t speak highly of anyone but Deion. I guess there’s a fine line, but everything I’ve seen from him the last few days has reeked of arrogance.

They’re not kids, they’re adults. I’m certain they’ve heard much worse and probably said worse things themselves. Deion told them the truth and wasn’t filthy about it. Not an issue IMO.
Absolutely. The dynamic changed with NIL. If you're getting paid then your fair game for criticism and uncomfortable conversations.

I have no clue of Colorado nil. But I can’t imagine many of any are making six figure nil deal guys

If they can’t take reality then gtfo
You people are freaking insane

Now players have to sign up for military combat or GTFO off a football team?

It’s literally a freaking game. I’m all for playing hard and even hard life lessons is part of it. But to publicly humiliate kids that their biggest wrong is not winning games opens them up for this …some of you are looney

No your reading skills are insane and apparently soft. Guess next time Stoops is laying into a player during a game you can post a whine about public humiliation.

Ok big bad man!

Jumping into a player after a game …not a huge deal (and Stoops doesn’t really even do that ). But telling a kid he might as well leave when he’s not even been able to practice yet ….and doing it in front of cameras intentionally to garner something are worlds apart of football coaching

Just the same. You look like a loser that gets off on talking out your ass at pee we football games to show a bunch of children what a real man acts like

Go to a high school Friday night game and show all the man you’d ever be…little man

Hahaha damn kt you’re an absolute emotional wreck dude. You’re all over the map now. Sorry you got your feelings hurt.

Lol

Colorado is gonna be an instant turnaround

A coach/person like deion is exactly how you shake the 50 plus year history of ineptness. But maybe by year 20 we will make as much noise as colorado will within 3. Just watch, they'll line up to play for him.
Or we could also move to the PAC 12 where there are 1-2 teams that should be ranked so that our win total would be padded every year. Deion is a smart con man who knows the key is to get in a weak P5 conference, rack up 11-12 wins and make the playoffs. That is why he picked Colorado instead of a challenge in a real conference like Auburn.

Or...

We could stop being a scorned lover fanbase and stop being so gawdang scared of the past and realize in 2 years were one of the 16 programs in the best position to be in with a 12 team playoff and nil and transfer portal... and start acting like it

Or come up with ideas that have zero chance of happening .. actually I probably just did the same. Most scared of the past fan base in sports.

You gonna die on this mountain???? They were 1-11 and he came in and let them know that things are gonna change. He never cursed them never belittled them. Told them that if they are not ready to put in the hardest work they've ever done they might want to check out the portal

“They’re kids” 🤣🤣🤣

You sound like a 1950’s IU fan. They’re adults who can get paid to play a game now. And you better believe Deion Sanders, above all, is dead set on bringing massive amounts of NIL.

Your argument is tired.

I can virtually guarantee the vast majority of those criticizing the message didn't watch the entire video. They saw the msm clickbait outrage headline and wanted to be outraged too.

Watching the entire speech it was such a refreshing approach. When you saw the fear and dejection on the players' faces and heard the concern in their questions about how hard they'd have to work, you'd instantly know the approach was more than warranted.

Shame on those players, former coaches, and all involved that let a group of young men get lazy and shame a program.

After watching the video, it reminds me of the movie Super Troopers. It's like Deon was dared into saying "I'm coming!" as many times as possible in his speech.
