Listening to UK pregame show. Brings up interesting point about how much UK/coach cal misses John Robic. Sounds about right. He was great at breaking down the game.

Could be wrong but Robic seemed like the guy that kept Cal in check.. the one that told the emperor he wasn’t wearing any clothes. Every great leader needs someone on their staff that gives critical feedback and helps them see what they are too blind to see for themselves. You’ve seen the bench these days, they have great spectator seats but they aren’t engaged or coaching anything.

The week of the Kansas State game PJ and a couple other teammates lied to a restaurant about getting free cheesecake for his “birthday”. MJ and Scoop told the story. Supposedly there was an argument after the manager found out.
We talking about cheesecake!! We should be put on probation!!

To this fan base: please stop with calling uofl or Indiana fans delusional when threads like this show up

Did Mitch and Sandy know about this??

This should have been self reported to NCAA and PJ suspended until eligibility determination by NCAA.

At least, that is how it works for FB players.

Back then they had to steal cheesecakes. Nowadays they could just buy out the restaurant

And no one knows specifically what each coach is good/bad at or even in charge of. Hope all the speculation is helping you and everyone else doing this deal with the teams struggles.
It makes sense to me, our decline in overall play started with his personal decline. We haven’t made one modicum of adjustment since he left. I’m curious what game prep the other part do the staff does.

John Robic was good here. As have been most of the assistants. The one we have really missed for point guard play is Rod Strickland. Kenny Payne was good with the bigs.

But it's always Cal. People can make it about the assistants all they want, it's still always comes down to Cal.

The most complete Calipari-pumper in the entire universe ! ! !
Nah, @HerrosHeroes is legit. Just pathologically optimistic. Which is a plus most of the time even if you don’t agree with him. He’s even criticized Cal occasionally, though definitely not called for his job. There are people I won’t name who really do seem to worship Cal in a way that would probably make even Cal and Ellen uncomfortable. HH isn’t one of those.

Robic has been gone for long enough that it isn’t a legit excuse regardless. Cal has had plenty of time to recognize the deficiency and correct it. The fact that he hasn’t is completely on him.

I blame Cal for the PJ debacle against an injured Kansas State team that wasn't even that great when their star was playing. It is what I see as the same problem over and over again; Cal's offense equals throw it to the guy in the middle and yes there is an advantage (hello Oscar). You could see PJ was off in his free throw shooting as well as the same advantage in the paint. But at some point you look for other advantages when a player is struggling at the line and that one dimensional approach is also leading to forced shots and turnovers. Same offense employed against Saint Peters, Mich State, etc. Not sure Robic had anything to do with it back then and obviously not now. Only one coach has been the consistent variable in these games.

This IS Cal's default offense. The tighter the game, the tighter Cal gets, and the tighter the players play until you always get what you always got because.......Cal reverts to forcing the ball inside even when the defense is collapsed into the paint because he has no shooters left that have ANY confidence they can make an outside shot.

UGH!!! I can't watch his teams continue to struggle because of his stubbornness to resist change.

Another year of terrible coaching….I think you nailed it. Robic was not a ‘yes’ man like the guys we have on the bench now.
