For those of us at work whose filter blocks pretty much most sites give us a teaser of what the record will be.
Lame that we need to click multiple times just to get to a fairly ho-hum take.

If this was the record for Kentucky this season, Kentucky fans would be happy with year one under Coach Pope, but the Wildcats are capable of having a much better season than this. If Kentucky were to go 10-8 in SEC play, they likely wouldn't be a top four seed in the SEC Tournament. Coach Pope has made it clear he is going to Nashville looking to win the SEC Tournament, so the Wildcats would love the double bye.

With a 10-8 record, though, we are looking at a 6-9 seed. If we can roll early and have a better overall record than 10-3 coming into conference play, that NCAA tournament seed could be a lot better. Or, if we could beat some of the top SEC teams, and our losses come from those middle teams instead of the bottom-feeders, that would boost a better tourney resume.

I feel like we’re going to be a little better than 20-11 and 10-8. We have good talent, more depth, much more experience, bigger bodies and IMO a real coaching staff. Really excited to start the season.

20 wins overall and 10 wins in conference is a respectable start for a first year coach with a completely new roster.
I think they will have some postseason success though. I’m saying they win a game or two in the SEC and a game or two in the NCAA.
So I’m thinking probably 22-13 to finish the year.

I bet our record will be a lot better than this guy's prediction. I bet our wins total will be closer to 30 wins than it will be to 20. We're going to be a lot better than most people thinks. Loads of experience, tons of depth & 3 point shooters everywhere. And a coach that gives his players the freedom to play loose & free.

Hope you are right.
But on paper, our schedule, especially our SEC schedule, looks brutal.
I am hoping for a non double digit loss record say 22-9 or 23-8 and a finals in the SEC t. 4-5 seed in NCAA elite 8 at worst..I'd be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would be very encouraged with that this year. That’s very respectable for a first year coach with a brand new team.
I think 20-11 is the floor. How many times did we get beat by experienced “grown man” teams? Well we got one of those now.
I like Pope on the beach making ingame decisions than the former coach that was here.
I am hoping too but it's going to be hard to achieve that.

I'd be fine with 23-8 for the regular season. I said 26, but 23-26 sounds about right. I don't think we lose any home games next year.
Not losing at home is a very good point of emphasis for the team ... !!!
I think we do minimum three games better. I don’t think they’re factoring in how hard Rupp will be rocking this year. When Cal got here he didn’t lose a home game in over two years. And while he certainly did coach better and have better players those early years, not to mention a much better staff, I think we kind of underrappreciated how much extra energy Rupp had, just from being out from under Billy G and end-stage Tubby. We’ll have more than that this year.

I cannot look at anything UKBB objectively. That said, if Pope won 23 games last year at BYU in a tougher conference with less team talent, I think he wins at least 3 more games here.
Rupp is going to be a hard ticket and loud next year...that will help.

20-11 is not acceptable. a .645 winning percentage is good for UK football, not UK basketball

For the short time Pope had to get here and recruit, it’s pretty good considering what the cowl left him. While in general I agree, it’s pretty late in the process to hold a high standard for year one. Having said that, I think we are closer to 27 or 30 wins and make a deep run.
I'm not going to get very analytical in this prediction, just laying one thing out there.

Interesting to revisit this thread and some of the responses. There are several unrealistic takes preseason, primarily without having any clue as to how hard the SEC was going to be this year, as well as the unknown injury bug that would plague us all year.
I was off, but I didn't factor in just how good the SEC would be, and our injuries.
