Prediction: UK Will Be 20-0 And #1 When We Visit Kansas January 30

For some reason I really feel like we are going to go 40-0 and thus be better than last yr.

I think its because of:

Chip on Ulis, Poy and Lee's shoulders as well as Hawkins and Willis plus we wont platoon and we are freakishly talented and loaded.

Ulis vs. Mason
Briscoe vs. Selden
Murray vs. Svi
Poy vs. Ellis
Skal vs. Diallo

Bench: Lee, Humphries, Matthews, Mulder vs. Bragg, Graham, Greene, Lucas, etc.

I like our matchups here, but home court advantage will be huge. Edge to KU. Will be a great gut check for our young team.

I'm still confused as to why we are playing an OOC game in the middle of conference play. Also why is it we played Kansas last year on a neutral site but then we have to play them at their place? Shouldn't it be home for home not neutral close to us and at their home. KU starting to act like Duke now.

The Game with Kansas this year is different than the Champions Classic rotational game we play with them, which was last year.

We will get Kansas at Rupp next season I imagine. Although, I'm not sure what happens two seasons from now, when we play Kansas in the CC rotational. Will we play them twice? Or is the other Kansas game just single series Home/Away?

I seriously doubt they are 20-0. They will probably have a loss or two by then, and nothing wrong with that.

I sincerely hope for a few close early losses - the 40-0 stuff just put ridiculous pressure on last year's team, and was an immense distraction.

If KU does not beat us at their place this time around, then it's official that Cal/UK owns Self/KU.[/QUOTE]

Kentucky already owns Kansas & Self.:cool2:

OOC we have a losable game versus Duke but I think we are better/more talented.

At UCLA is dangerous but the Bruins are not as good as last season and we are just a better team.

We "ain't" losing at Rupp to anyone.

SEC road games before that night:

at LSU
at Alabama
at Auburn
at Arkansas

Very...very possible we are 20-0 which would make us 58-1 over the last 59 games.

Nah, not happening. This team will take some bumps and losses.

Talk is cheap. Let's watch a few games first.
Talk may be cheap but recruiting services just dont hand out 5 stars to just any player.
Those are earned and UK has six players that are 5 stars.
When you have a McDonalds All American coming off the bench, you are officially loaded.

Cliff Alexander did not start for Kansas...

And on another team, a guy who is in his 3rd year averaging 2 and 2 with the fans still holding on to his high school accolades would be laughed at on this site.

Season starts, stars and all-star crap is over. Means nothing, guarantees nothing.

In other words; It's a dose of "Realville" I know most of these players have game but I see a lot of hype where there is not nearly the talent backing it up. I guess you have to flaunt it to sell it. It used to be "Flaunt it if you got it." Now it's flaunt it. Someone will buy it." jmo

Skal #1
Briscoe #10
Murray easily top 5.
Poythress was top 10
Ulis and Lee 5 stars as well.

We have as many top 10 players as last season and with Mulder to go alongwith Murray, Briscoe and Ulis we have more shooters than any team in the Cal era.

I know i know they have to proove it but damn we are clearly going to be very very very good.

My point exactly.

Poythress's ranking out of high school really has no merit anymore. To date his college performance is not in line with his high school ranking at all. Same goes for Lee. Both are good role players surrounded by great talent.

Am I wrong? Same goes for Selden. Ranked 12 out of high school and hasn't lived up to the ranking.

Yes, you are correct. I really like Selden's game personally. He's inconsistent at times but he is a good player. In defense of Poy and Lee, Poy had to play behind Randle and then was hurt last year. But he did win a few games for us in the tourney in 2014. Last year Cal tried to mold him into a 3 and he's not a 3, he's a 4. I think his game suffered because of that. Lee didn't really see the floor until the Michigan game in 2014 and played very limited minutes last year. Cal usually pulled him due to missing a defensive assignment. Lee must develop some sort of offensive game or he will get lost in the shuffle again this year IMO. He has to make his defender guard him at the elbow.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that Poy hasn't been given sufficient playing time since his freshmen year and Lee hasn't had sufficient playing time since he's been at UK, whereas Selden has got plenty of run. Especially last season.

Cast me in as one who hopes we lose a few. If they make it 20-0 then the 40-0 bs will start again. Then once we get to 38-0 and lose in the tourney bbblazing will post again just to say he's nkt posting again and cats1again will blame the Canadians on the team since they walk too slow.

You 2 need to come out of your new handles and pick up your award for co posters of the year!

All you guys saying UK is extremely young as a reason we will lose several doesnt hold water.

You can make the argument that last yrs team was younger.

Ulis, Lee, Poythress, Hawkins and Willis are all experienced players.

Now mix that experience with the young but uber talented Skal, Murray, Briscoe, Matthews Mulder, Wynyard and Humphries and you have a receipt for great success.

I will say this, if UK wins at Kansas I think we run it.

We all know we can win with youth. Some are just saying we haven't seen them play on the college stage yet and are not ready to pronounce them kings of the world 2 months prior to the season starting.

Your list of experience includes one starter, 2 reserves and 2 guys who never play. That experience pales in comparison to UNC, Duke, VA, Maryland, Kansas, and pretty much every other team in college basketball.

Doesn't mean we will not win a bunch, but it certainly doesn't prove a point we will.

You predicting we run it is no surprise, you have posted 40-0 for 2 straight years nonstop.

We "should" win all those games but we won't...

I'd expect a few losses is the first 20 games.

I still think we're winning it all this year!

I think two - but otherwise, can't argue. I used to truly believe that there was no such thing as a "good loss" - that the close wins were enough. I think that is what happened last year. Two problems - the pressure of being undefeated AND the fact our guys did skate along believing we'd win no matter what. For a more seasoned team, maybe it wouldn't have mattered.

I think they are just as likely to have 8 losses as 0 losses. Both are highly unlikely.

You are right about Selden. So you are partially right. Poythress averaged nearly 12 ppg as a freshman, then played behind a lottery pick in Julius Randle, then got hurt (after helping rout Kansas by 32, as I recall.) We'll see how he does this year, if fully healed. Marcus Lee was seen as a developing talent all along. He has played behind four First Round Picks at the 4-5 positions for UK, so he hasn't had the chance yet to show all he can do.

Are you trying to say we will be 20-1 after the Kansas game?

I have a question for KU fans,, as I know they lurk around here.. I run onto your fans on message boards that all claim 5 titles.. And when I say if we added in our bread titles we'd have 15 titles,, they say we do not have 15.. UK fans don't associate with those bread titles as they're cheap,, but what's the difference in you saying 5 if we said 15?

No difference I guess, but don't. We have 3 championships. You guys have 8. Maybe there's a lack of understanding because of the way they're presented at the Fieldhouse? Maybe the majority of your guys' Helms are from years you've won the tournament and thats what throws people off? Haven't really figured it out, but I notice the lack of understanding the difference on a monthly basis. It's much ado about nothing as I have no control over banner representation at the Fieldhouse. Would I like to see it changed? Sure. Is it going to keep me from spending the majority of my waking hours during the season cheering for Kansas and following college bball? Not in the least

Thank you.. You're a rare breed with KU fans that actually understand the difference in an actual NCAA title and a bread title.. The fans in question I'm talking about says we only have 8 and KU 5.. UK won the championship in 6 of the 7 bread title years.. I'm not even sure that counts as 2 or just 1 title? Don't really care as they're cheap titles..

I wouldn't count out Selden - I think he's going to come into his own this year and play well enough to be drafted first round. Same goes for Poy and Lee, I think our upperclassmen are going to really thrive this year.

I wouldn't spend too much time contemplating it. And I've found that having amicable, intelligent conversations between opposing fan bases fans on message boards is a rarity. Every fan base has bad apples of a variety of different degrees. KU & UK included most definitely lol. I can't believe some of the nonsense I've read over the years. I've learned that the merit of a school's fans should not be judged on anonymous message boards. But it sure as hell is entertaining.

I totally agree. I am confident we have another great team. But these wild predictions that we see here every year in August and September are based on nothing but bluster. All I care about is winning #9 and doing it by the rules.
