He was out hustled on many rebounds and failed to hit those crucial free throws... as the only senior he HAS to step it up....come on Poy..you have to do that..
Exactly what I have been thinking after his 2nd year.At this point we have to accept what Poythress is. He isn't going to step up. He is a role player. Nothing more.

As much as I love Poy, I just don't see it happening for him.He was out hustled on many rebounds and failed to hit those crucial free throws... as the only senior he HAS to step it up....come on Poy..you have to do that..
Absolutely agree 100%. Why everyone keeps "hoping" is beyond me. We've seen it for 3+ years. He is what he is. Typified by draining the three, followed by bricking the one and one that could've cut it to one. Gets blocked in the paint more than Ulis. Why does anyone expect him to do much of anything at this point? After 3+ years we should know what he is.
How many balls literally went right thru his fingers? 5? And directly lead to OSU points.Unfortunately, he is what he is.
This. A good kid who was awesome in high school but at the level it takes at UKWhy does anyone expect him to do much of anything at this point? After 3+ years we should know what he is.
That has nothing to do with what happened to Poy today. He had his opportunities, just couldn't pull it off.Kid has no plays run for him. Ulis time and again today missed him on the lob today off the pick and roll. If a team tells one guy to only block out Poythress and don't turn him loose defensively then he will not do much of anything. I would love to see Cal run some screening down low. Let Lee and Poythress work alttle two man game, some high low. Right now the only time the big men touch is off penetration. I think this limits the offense.
Exactly. Tired of folks saying that "he needs to step it up". He loses the ball almost every time he puts it on the floor (dribbles). He hustles his butt off for rebounds only to lose the ball before he can go back up with it. If not an uncontested dunk or occasionally open three, he pretty much doesn't help at all. He just doesn't have the tools. I'm sorry. At this point we have to accept what Poythress is. He isn't going to step up. He is a role player. Nothing more.
This has pretty much been the story of his career here at UK. He is such a tremendous athlete. And shows monster brilliance at times. But seems like 80% of the time, he is just kind of hanging out on the court.
Agree, when he plays hard he's unstoppable, just like Richard Madison was, unfortunately he doesn't always play hard.
You can't wait to see him leave? That's some weak shit. Dude is inconsistent but without him we don't make the 2014 title game.Honestly, I can't wait to see the kid depart this season, tired of hearing the whole roar BS, just a great student athlete who never lived up to the hype, it happens. He'll play in Israel or some other place next season.
Glad this is his last year here.
