Hmmm. In 2022, Reeves didn't disappear, he just had a bad shooting night and went 1-15. While he shot us out of the game, he was probably our most consistent shooter all year with Tyty and Grady hurt the last third of the season. He had a lot of great games including 37 pts at Arkansas and averaged around 15 ppg if my memory serves. We had to have Reeves shooting in the St Peter's game because other than Oscar, no one was giving us much.
Many of his misses were in and out and that can happen to any shooter on occasion. Last year he averaged nearly 20 ppg and played pretty well against Oakland. My point is there is a difference between disappearing, as in not wanting the ball or doing very little in the way of contribution, and not having a great shooting night but contributing in other ways such as boards, blocks, assists, steals and rebounds. Against Oakland, Reeves didn't torch them with his shooting, but neither was he stone cold as I recall the game. He hustled his ass off and played unselfishly. We lost that game in large measure because we didn't play good team defense, most notably we failed to run Oakland's best 3-p shooter off the 3-p line or really even challenge his shots. Reeves played like an All-American last year and he didn't receive the credit he deserved. This week he scored 34 points for New Orleans coming off the bench. He showed just how good he really is and that he's very capable of putting up good numbers in the NBA too. He gave us everything he had for 2 years, so let's not denigrate him.
