Pope mentions something that many have said: some lineups just do not work. His statement summary was all the guys play hard, and all can play well, but there are certain groups that can't play well together. Due to fouls, match ups, pace and things we likely don't have any idea of, there are times when HE looked on the court and thought 'this just doesn't work'. So for everybody screaming about the sub patterns...he isn't crazy about some of them.

Making lemonade out of lemons due to injury the team is at a point he us now pretty sure about the lineup....so we go from there.

every team has injuries. Larger roster more injuries. Pope loaded the roster. The problem is we have some guys unplayable in big games. Chandler is the obvious answer to our back up pg issues. I mean when you have a 20 year old top 40 recruit replacing Robinson there is a drop but if chandler plays to the level capable he can actually provide us more defense at the backup pg spot. Pope should commit to playing chandler like last night. The guy is gaining confidence and will work his ass off defending

Chandler is not a reliable ball handler under pressure. He showed that in a few games this season, including Auburn. Last night he was not pressured and looked solid.

We just don’t have a backup PG. Butler cannot play a full 40 minutes and we he comes out, it’s tough. Luckily, we have managed to play pretty well without him, so that will help us down the road, but we are still going to have lulls when he comes out of the game.

Would take Mark Pope in a heartbeat over any and all of the brilliant basketball minds that have been criticizing him.
You can question and have doubts w/o being critical. Lose the sensitivity and just open your mind a bit. Hell, Pope supports that approach. He's said as much.

Chandler is getting better but this seems like a role for next year not this one.

Agree.

Preseason, he was not even remotely considered to play PG. Injuries have forced him into this role. (TP not the answer)

Hopefully, this will help Chandler's development so that SOME good will come out of this.

If you watch Pope's post LSU speech last night listen to the 1.38 mark and tell me your thoughts. Seems to start to say something but looks to his left and then did not continue that statement .

Sure you can but that’s kind of irrelevant to my point, right?

Since I’m literally referring to people criticizing him?

Maybe lose your own sensitivity and open your own mind a bit?
I think people often confuse the two. I don't see a whole lot of criticism on here. Certainly not enough of it to warrant a view like yours. But your argument of "am not, am too" is noted.

I don’t believe Chandler has the handle to play point guard against good teams, or ever will . In fact, it would be embarrassing.

Impossible, I had no less than half a dozen usuals here spitting with rage about roster construction and demanding why certain guys play these minutes and other guys play those minutes. You mean to tell me that the coach might be smarter than them, and might understand why one player works better in a given unit than another? And said coach might realize that with injuries, some players have to play roles they might not be 100% fit for?

I'd agree with you, yoshukai. Maybe between Noah, Perry, and Chandler, can he somehow spread out by using three players instead of a true 1 ?

And it goes beyond that, it all depends on the in-game matchup problems and foul situation that exacerbates the problem of "replacing" Jaxson, essentially. Because that's the team. The banged up version with Carr's back and Lamont's shoulder still hurtin. Kerr and Jax lost to attrition.

We're still in good shape though. They know now what they have and who they have to work with. Whereas Chandler had a breakout game against LSU, as Noah and Perry did against Tennessee, it bodes well, especially if we continue to see Garrison come along more. Almonor has been one of my fav guys on the team, and to see him struggle has been hard, and I still think he can and will be the man that has a huge moment for us out there, yet.

Altogether, this team can compete - and beat - anyone in the country. I still have faith in all of these guys that they have learned some valuable collective lessons by now.

On to Missouri and the final act of the road circus.

PS - I think I've really grown to detest all the other SEC schools. They've finally earned my disrespect for them all.

✅ Your switching to ad hominem once I exposed the self-defeating nature of your creepy and unprovoked attack is also noted.

My favorite thing about Pope is his total honesty. He says something g you know its true or at least what he really thinks
