I’ll forever be thankful for Calipari. 2010-2019 produced some great memories. But his ego became bigger than the program and it was his downfall. Pope is too humble to ever let it get to that point…wouldn’t surprise me if he coached here 20-25 years.
I would love nothing more than to see Pope have a Rupp-like tenure here with multiple decades coaching at UK and multiple titles in hand by the time of retirement. Most of our other coaches have left or retired after close to a decade or a little over (with the exceptions of Sutton and BCG).

Loved the in game huddle where you hear Pope tell them they have to get that rebound, have to not want to. Words matter and few words matter more to these guys. They have so much going through their heads during a game, short quick words, asking them do you get it. things like that. He is not preaching at them in a huddle he is teaching and expecting actions. They are responding to that. Older guys get it. Younger guys learn it from those guys. By Jan/Feb we will have 12 guys that are able to get it. I doubt we see much of the 3 freshman, except in blowouts or in case of an injury but man this is great to see.
