You being serious or trolling? He'll be "hurt" all season. Pope needs strong fighter types.
I'm being jaded. You think that guy is going to get in there and battle? I don't. And freshman typically do not bulk up after graduating high school. They're busy having the time of their lives not being in high school anymore and enjoying their new fame in playing basketball at the collegiate level. It will take a LONG time for me to get over the Crap Cal Era.You being serious or trolling?
He is not an Anthony Davis, Zion or Flagg. Plenty of players that will be in the portal who will have just as much impact and not cost as much.I think we need the guy because we still need at least 1 or 2 top 10 guys a year to mix with returnees, and portal players!
This is likely true but you don't want to completely ignore freshman. If you're not pulling any big time recruits when an AD/Zion type guy comes around you're very unlikely to pull them.He is not an Anthony Davis, Zion or Flagg. Yeah but freshman can also be skinny and still dominate college basketball. I think aments floor is still a good college playerI'm being jaded. You think that guy is going to get in there and battle? Need to change that mindset with Pope at the helm. Cal is gone. I wish we'd stop talking about him. I see two Kentucky boys who he wouldn't give two craps about and weren't highly rated giving it everything they have. That has to mean something. It's not only rubbing off on this team, but it will future teams as well. That's not only the Pope Effect, it's what it means to put that jersey on. Pope is undoing all the stuff we as a fanbase have had to endure from the previous regime. It's high time the fans followed suit.I'm being jaded. I disagree. If I have learned anything about the top guys and what they are looking for under the new NIL world it isn't like with Cal and who can get me to the league fastest. Players with the talent level of a Davis, Zion or Flagg know regardless where they sign they have the talent level to be an overall pick and are simply looking for the highest bidder for their one year in college. I trust Pope will still bring in some top rated 4 or 5 star high school recruits to mix with returning players and portal players and will build a strong foundation of consistency that way. This is likely true but you don't want to completely ignore freshman. If you're not pulling any big time recruits when an AD/Zion type guy comes around you're very unlikely to pull them.
Prince wasnt beefyAnyone underestimating Ament because he’s a lanky small forward need to watch highlights of Will Riley who’s probably going to be a lottery pick. Feel like I heard this same criticism when Pope was recruiting him last year.
Dook has like 3 top forwards. Louisville is well, Louisville, as long as we match the bag how could he not wanna be here and be the guy???
Prince wasnt beefy
He is good enough to be a nice reserve and has started several games this year in the NBA. BJ wasn't bad, he was a freshman, and did not have anyone around him who could create.Honestly have been seriously burned out on recruiting for the last 6 years or so or whatever that Brandon Boston Class was. How good is he supposed to be? Any player comps?
What? I said how good was Ament. I used Boston as a time frame reference and didn’t say anything about him in particular. Inventing shit to get mad at, typical of today’s society. He is good enough to be a nice reserve and has started several games this year in the NBA. He is averaging 24 mpg and has started 10 games this year. Averages 11 ppg / 3.5 rpg / 2.2 apg / 1.3 steals. Shooting 35% from 3. I would say he is doing damn good, maybe he just needed better players around him. The kid played his ass off here, why talk shit about him ? You did not directly bash him, but you mentioned him by name, so,,,,,
He’d be a great get, but Pope will need to go and get 1-2 portal guys who are bruisers. A power forward with some beef to compliment Garrison and/or another big strong body for the post to compete in this league.I'm being jaded. You think that guy is going to get in there and battle? You said you haven't been interested in recruiting since the BJ Boston class, when you mentioned him by name, I thought you was saying he was a bust here. But yeah, Ament is very good. Getting better every day. I wanted him a lot more than Caleb Wilson. The kid can shoot the ball, score inside, pass, hit 3's at a high % (42%), hits his free throws at a 90% clip. He does have to get stronger and add weight. Search his name and watch some clips, he will be one we will not be happy if we miss on, which at this point, he will be tough to sign, but we have made big time strides with him. What? I said how good was Ament. I used Boston as a time frame reference and didn’t say anything about him in particular. Inventing shit to get mad at, typical of today’s society.
What ? They all "bulk up", no freshman stays the same weight in college from high school. By the way, look at all of our injuries, ALL are older guys, "bulked up". You think Carr, Robinson, and Butler all weigh the same as they did in high school ? You know nothing about him to know if he will "get in there and battle". "Having the time of their lives" ?, basketball IS their lives, at least for the elite guys. Let you in on a little secret, if they come from high school and do not put in SERIOUS work, they will not be enjoying new fame in college. Just a silly post overall. Elite athletes work VERY hard at getting better, working on their weaknesses.I'm being jaded. You think that guy is going to get in there and battle? I don't. And getting injured. ALL 4 of our player injuries this year are the older guys. Carr (old), Butler (old), Kriisa (old), Robinson (old). I am halfway kidding, but it is true.True we need more 24 year old transfers. They seem to really thrive at battling and being gritty.
I though he said Duke & Louisville, with Kentucky in a distant 3rdShaw said he thinks it will come down to Louisville and Kentucky.
