Pope at Ament’s senior night….

Honestly have been seriously burned out on recruiting for the last 6 years or so or whatever that Brandon Boston Class was. How good is he supposed to be? Any player comps?

You being serious or trolling?
I'm being jaded. You think that guy is going to get in there and battle? I don't. And freshman typically do not bulk up after graduating high school. They're busy having the time of their lives not being in high school anymore and enjoying their new fame in playing basketball at the collegiate level. It will take a LONG time for me to get over the Crap Cal Era.

He is not an Anthony Davis, Zion or Flagg. Plenty of players that will be in the portal who will have just as much impact and not cost as much.
This is likely true but you don't want to completely ignore freshman. If you're not pulling any big time recruits when an AD/Zion type guy comes around you're very unlikely to pull them.

Yeah but freshman can also be skinny and still dominate college basketball. I think aments floor is still a good college player

Pope isn't Cal. I don't think we can just assume that freshmen are going to come in here and use UK as an pro audition while Pope is coach.

And it looks like the freshmen we have now are developing and learning. You can see how they've improved as the season has moved on. I'm pretty excited to see what Pope can do with five star freshmen, something he's never had.

Need to change that mindset with Pope at the helm. Cal is gone. I wish we'd stop talking about him. I see two Kentucky boys who he wouldn't give two craps about and weren't highly rated giving it everything they have. That has to mean something. It's not only rubbing off on this team, but it will future teams as well. That's not only the Pope Effect, it's what it means to put that jersey on. Pope is undoing all the stuff we as a fanbase have had to endure from the previous regime. It's high time the fans followed suit.

And I love those two.

I disagree. If I have learned anything about the top guys and what they are looking for under the new NIL world it isn't like with Cal and who can get me to the league fastest. Players with the talent level of a Davis, Zion or Flagg know regardless where they sign they have the talent level to be an overall pick and are simply looking for the highest bidder for their one year in college. I trust Pope will still bring in some top rated 4 or 5 star high school recruits to mix with returning players and portal players and will build a strong foundation of consistency that way.

Dook has like 3 top forwards. Louisville is well, Louisville, as long as we match the bag how could he not wanna be here and be the guy???

Ament is being recruited as a SF.

Louisville has a hole there. They are pretty well done with PF/C with 5 guys there already and have 3 solid guards expecting to play a lot, but no one at the wing.

Duke is different. They theoretically have James and Evans back but are already bringing in 3 highly rated forwards like you said. I don’t really see the fit, other than they will have some transfers or decommits like MgBako and Mitchell.

He is good enough to be a nice reserve and has started several games this year in the NBA. BJ wasn't bad, he was a freshman, and did not have anyone around him who could create.

He is averaging 24 mpg and has started 10 games this year. Averages 11 ppg / 3.5 rpg / 2.2 apg / 1.3 steals. Shooting 35% from 3. I would say he is doing damn good, maybe he just needed better players around him. The kid played his ass off here, why talk shit about him ? You did not directly bash him, but you mentioned him by name, so,,,,,

What? I said how good was Ament. I used Boston as a time frame reference and didn’t say anything about him in particular. Inventing shit to get mad at, typical of today’s society.

He’d be a great get, but Pope will need to go and get 1-2 portal guys who are bruisers. A power forward with some beef to compliment Garrison and/or another big strong body for the post to compete in this league.

Not trying to bash the kid but how are his stats from this season relevant to what he did when he was here?

True we need more 24 year old transfers. They seem to really thrive at battling and being gritty.

Not to bury this in a thread about the wonderful young man that would be a great addition to our team, but it got me thinking about our OWN Senior Night this year.

which nobody is really seeming to mention yet.

it's going to be here before we know.

our senior night is against LSU, right ?

We should honor all these guys. and this team. Bring back Oweh and Garrison for next year senior night. They're ours now and forevermore I say - Come back guys!

wow. gonna be emotional for me and this team on senior night this year
