Here's a perfect example of what I posted previously re: huge gulf between the parties that does not look like it can be overcome. The Republican Senators almost unanimously voted FOR these obviously partisan appointees as there was no compelling reason not to do so. EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT (there may have been an apostate or two) Senator voted AGAINST Patel because Trump wanted him, because he was not part of the Deep State, etc. 300k law enforcement officers endorsed him. Long history in law enforcement. Imminently qualified. But, the Dems will NEVER compromise, will vote in lockstep (almost always), always play the 'my way or the highway' game on issues, will repeat the groupthink latest propaganda in the media verbatim day after day.
Maybe another civil war and a split of the Republic is the only solution. My guess is the Progressive country would quickly slide into economic doldrums and widespread poverty while the Conservative country would be much better off economically (look at E. Germany vs W. Germany when the wall came down in the 80s). I hope I don't live to see it happen. If it does happen, I would recommend building very high walls to keep the Progressive citizens out as they will do their damndest to infiltrate and ruin the Conservative country as they have with Red states. Misery does, in fact, love company.

Also on average, blue states rate higher in education and health care. Yes there are some shit states on both sides but on average, blue states have better indicators
With that all being said, the country isn’t going to split. Look at a map. How the hell you going to divide that? Also when you think about it, to a certain extent there is more of a rural v urban divide when it comes to political beliefs. I don’t know what the solution is. Hopefully the extremists in both parties lose influence. Would kill for a more centrist third party but that is wishful thinking I suppose.
