I like to read about Communism as it's straight evil and their tactics are rampant in the Democrat Party especially with the "pressure from above and below" model of manufacturing protests to make it look like this was some grassroots movement while simultaneously leveraging institutional power.
Who remembers ACORN?
The
ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) scandal was one of the most infamous examples of left-wing political activism crossing ethical and legal boundaries. ACORN was a left-leaning nonprofit that engaged in voter registration, housing assistance, and other community activism—often working closely with Democratic politicians.
Key Issues in the ACORN Scandal
- Voter Fraud Allegations
- ACORN workers were caught submitting fraudulent voter registrations across multiple states, including Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
- Some ACORN employees admitted to fabricating names and addresses to meet voter registration quotas (e.g., registering "Mickey Mouse" or "Dallas Cowboys players").
- In 2009, 14 ACORN employees were convicted of voter fraud.
- The 2009 Undercover Video Sting
- Conservative activists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles secretly filmed ACORN employees advising them on how to break the law, including:
- Filing fraudulent tax forms
- Illegally smuggling underage girls for prostitution
- Avoiding detection by law enforcement
- The videos exposed ACORN’s corruption and led to nationwide backlash.
- Congress Defunds ACORN
- After the scandal, Congress overwhelmingly voted to cut all federal funding to ACORN.
- The organization shut down by 2010, though its affiliated groups continued under different names.
The ACORN scandal
confirmed long-standing suspicions that left-wing organizations were
manipulating voter rolls, engaging in fraud, and abusing federal funds—all while claiming to be “grassroots” community organizers. ACORN had deep ties to
Democratic politicians, including Barack Obama, who had previously worked with them as a lawyer and community organizer.
The scandal
revealed the extent to which political activism on the left was not always organic, but
strategically funded and executed to gain power—a method that aligns with the "pressure from above and below" approach.
