Talked with a man many years ago that made his money off of the black panhellenic councils and black church congregations. When I asked him how he reconciled his professed Christian beliefs with seeking and profiting off of racial division, he just stared at me for a good long while like a deer in high-beams. Couldn't believe I'd ask him that in a public setting. No one else was listening, so he replied, "I can't." He said he wanted to change things from the inside in his younger days and had simply forgotten the goal. By the time he remembered it, he didn't know how to go about it without losing everything. He spent a lot of his time focusing on changing people who were racist outside of his community but didn't know how to influence people within his community to leave their racist views behind.

Funnt thing was that he had wanted to eliminate the black greek system becaude it was racist. He told people that when he was younger. No one would listen. Anyway...

That was the last conversation we ever had about it.
