I’ve settled plenty of sexual harassment cases but none for that much. But that wasn’t my point and you know it. The alleged crime was not paying money to Stormy Daniel’s to settle a threatened claim or get a confidentiality agreement. The alleged crime was the way it was done. Totally different from the Clinton situation.

I too have guided clients in settlement of harassment claims and in today’s dollars have never paid anything close to $800k, and I have had some bad cases. I think that tells us a lot. And, he settled that at the court of appeals after he won at the district court level, I believe. That is some real money. Again, that tells us a lot.

Yeah Clinton was a total scumbag. But his settlement of the case was not criminal. That is the only point I’m trying to make. The media has done a bad job of explaining the potential charge against Trump. It is not because he paid “hush money” to a porn star.
I get your point. I get the distinction. Now, did Clinton ever get criminally charged for perjury, counselor? Surely that is a more serious allegation than some supposed campaign finance violation. Perhaps the lack of a perjury indictment might be a better example of a double standard than his alleged pay out to Jones not being charged, which, as you say, is no crime- unlike perjury. Of course, to actually indict Clinton on that crap would be a banana republic move...which is where we're kind of getting close now.
I don’t think they should indict Trump. You or I might be indicted in either situation (or maybe not) but it would be bad practice to indict a former president in this type of case. IMO the only Trump case that might have real legs is the Georgia case. If they end up stacking indictments in him it might cause him to lose the nomination. But DeSantis or others could benefit by focusing on the political nature of the charges.
