Haha Ive been to that store/gas station many times. Good old California. Just for reference that gas station has always had pretty much double the normal price. But with that said, its usually in the high 5s, not 8+ dollars.

Wow, my grand daughter is considering going to Centre College. Is Danville a bad town? I always thought it was a traditional American small town. What should I tell her? Look for another school?
One great thing about this forum is you find out things you never dreamed of.
Nah man...I was just joking with jstaff about where he lived. I don't recall ever hearing a bad thing about Danville in my life. It was just jokes. Centre is a good college, if your granddaughter is considering that school than she is smarter than most of us, cause that place would have told me to f-ck off.
She is a Governors Scholar and a pretty serious student. She is also considering the Air Force Academy but I am not sure I want any of my grandkids in the military with this administration screwing up America. And I am a Vet.
Danville is an okay place. Just full of snobs.
But she can definitely choose a better school than Centre College. Like, any of them.

This little community of ours is kinda funny...it's like we just woke up today and said 'lets sh-t on Danville'.
I am a UK grad and no way I would I recommend UK to anybody. It is as woke as the Air Force Academy. As a Governors Scholar she has a full scholarship to UK but this is not my UK. I don't know anything about EKU and NKU.
Now if Eli leaves and UK gets back to academics, maybe. But when a college indoctrinates instead of educates like UK does, well,

@Sawnee Cat Centre is very prestigious and you have to be super smart or super rich to get in. It would look good on a resume. But it’s woke beyond woke. Search for Boyle County confederate statue. It’s right beside Centre’s campus. Students claim it “terrorizes” them... so they threw a tarp over it. I drove by yesterday and there are BLM signs around it.
Statue was a gift given in 1910 to memorialize those who died fighting from Boyle County. But ya know, f ck history and context.
My aunt worked there for years. She went back for a part time job there and she has to take a test dealing with equity, equality, etc. just to keep a part time job. UK has went off the deep end under Eli.
A degree from Centre is valuable asset. Nothing wrong with Danville. As someone else mentioned, Centre may be woke, but most colleges are also to an extent.

If these are your concerns, then she should stay away from pretty much any liberal arts school.
As a Governor’s Scholar, encourage her to get the “free” degree somewhere in state.
Unless she has someone to pick up the tab on Centre, then upon graduation, her resume just goes into a pool along with the other debt-ridden liberal arts graduates looking for someone to give them a break.
Over the last 15 years or so, state universities all over the country have amped up their games to attract these top flight students. That’s why you have kids from all over attending the Honors program at the University of Alabama. They have a real college experience, get a good degree, and graduate debt free.
The older I get, the more I believe, “the students make the school”, and not the other way around.

Thank you, thank you. This is all I need to strike them off my list. I didn't know about the snob part. I knew Cawood Ledford graduated from there and Happy Chandler but not much else other than it was a high rated school.
I tell you picking a college in today's world is no easy chore. Even some of the most fundamental Christian schools are WOKE. Of course I am staying out of "picking schools" and I really have no clue as to what would be best for her. She wants to fly and is very interested in engineering. I am glad I didn't have this issue when I went to college.
We just went to class, got an education and graduated.

Yeah, most of my family are from a place in Kentucky I doubt many have even heard of. Its relatively close to Danville.
My next door neighbor had a Biden/Harris bumper sticker. I noticed it is no longer there. He still has his “Protect my environment” bumper sticker though. LOL 😂
