Please stop begging for Willis

IMO, Willis has earned some PT. He doesn't need 30 + mins nor should he be our focal point on offense, but he has been contributing. He's looked a lot more comfortable out there this season. He's not the deadeye shooter some make him out to be, but at least his improved his passing and timing this season. Inserting him isn't going to magically make this team better, but he has the tools to be a solid off the bench player.
Murray hasn't been the deadeye shooter every game, but he sure went off on Ohio St in the second half, one of the reasons Derek should get minutes he can go off like that.

You guys can spew that garbage all you want but i am not listening to it. I watch the games and know we are muvh better offensively when Willis is in the game. You guys wanna preach how he cant play defense...willis can give up 9 threes and let people take rebounds away from him and block his shot as well as anybody else. You wanna say Willis isn't the answer??? Maybe not...but an underachieving Poythress and Skal crtainly arent....willis cant do a damn thing sittin on that bench i do know that

I agree. While Willis is certainly not going to lead you to an NCAA title, there are times when he can help this team, since they are offensively challenged. People are right when they say he doesn't play great defense, but neither does Murray, and where would we have been, Saturday, without him. So those of you who want others to quit questioning why Willis isn't playing more, had better hope that some outside shots start falling for this team. Because if they don't, you are going to see more and more of the question, "why didn't Willis get in, when he can score the basketball?"

He's not shooting well from the perimeter either. He's got this reputation as a shooter he has yet to earn.

Agreed, which is why he can help this team, at times. He has scored in different ways, rather than only with the 3. If he gets in a hot streak, from outside, people will really wonder why he hasn't been playing. I understand why he hasn't, and don't disagree with it, but if we are losing a game, because no one can score, I would try anything to put points on the board, and one of those is to put in Wills, bad defense, and all.

If that's what you think then I suggest you re-read the post you wow'd. It might've been a dumb and wow-worthy post, but for essentially the polar opposite of the reason you just stated.

Gotta work on the reading comprehension, folks.

Guess I did misconstrue it. Thanks for the correction, but maybe next time try it with a little less snark and condescension.

And you say that based on what?

You know, there's a big difference here: Murray has a documented history for going off on scoring explosions like that. He impressed the hell out of everybody with how he did it several times in the Pan Am games, he impressed the hell out of everybody with how he did it in the Nike World Summit and other all star games, and he impressed the hell out of everybody with how he did it against OSU Saturday.

Willis, on the other hand, has never ever "gone off" like that in an actual game, at least not that I'm aware off. Yet you're somehow ready to compare his offensive explosiveness to Murray's? Based on WHAT? His meager (just barely) 30 percent career three percentage? His meager 2.3 ppg career scoring average? I hear UK fans make these comments, but can't figure out what the hell they're basing it on other than wishful thinking.
His Stats are based on games he never saw the floor in,so don't act like 2.3 ppg is an accurate reflection.

Umm ..NO. Do you not know how stat averages are calculated?

The "games he never saw the floor in" are not included in the calculation, that number is based only upon the games where he got minutes. If you included the other games it would barely even crack 1 ppg.

Willis ought to get minutes over Hawkins and maybe Matthews. Well, at least Matthews has some upside.
