I get the extent of your hoops knowledge must be playing video games in mommas basement. Like I've already said , DW should be getting some minutes like the huge majority of this boards supports. Not 35 min a game but a shot without getting the quick hook. Not be a team leader , Not the focus of the offense , that doesn't make a fanboi , just someone who doesn't like losing to trash like Tosu .

I like Willis, but his fans won't like my opinion. Willis is Fools Gold. He looks good against mediorce competition but can't guard or get shots off against the top competition. Willis is at his ceiling and very well playing a little better than Mattews or Skal or even Poythress right now. Cal is correctly playing to develop the best team he can by March.

I know it sucks at the time, but losing to UCLA or OSU in December really doesn't mean anything in the big picture. There is still plenty of time to develop. I promise you this team does not win a title without a significantly improved Skal.

Did you not look at his stats versus UCLA & ASU? Two of the better teams we have played.

Give it a rest. Many of us like what we see in Willis this season and would like to see more. Who made you the expert around here? Since Willis was not projected a top ten pick coming out of High School...he gets pulled for any perceived wrong that Calapari can think of. Just imagine if he got Skals minutes this year. It's not like anybody on this team can guard anyone either. He is one of the most skilled guys we have and we simply play better with him in the game.

People will quit calling for him to play more when people like you quit saying he can not make a difference. All the kid needs is playing time!

You say when did Willis make a difference? Watch the ucla game again. When call put him in he made plays and helped the team make a small run however nobody else stepped up.
I stick by my previous statement saying that if he had more playing time he would be considered to be one of the best.
Just look at wiltjer. Some of you same posters said he is not good. Look at him now.

While I agree that Willis is NOT our fix everything solution, it's hard to argue against the fact that he is better than Skal RIGHT NOW. I do understand Skal getting minutes. He has potential. What frustrates me is this: Willis will get a ton of clock in one game, play well, and then doesn't sniff the scorers table the next game. I can see if the opponent is starting two Julius Randles and he is just not a good matchup. I understand that. But in the Ohio State game, Skal was ABYSMAL on both ends of the floor, and Cal refused to play Willis. At the very least, a made three or two would have been a plus over what Skal did. THAT is what bothers me. The inconsistency and lack of rhythm that follows.

I think it's clear we have a kid who's on Christmas break with way too much time on his hands. No one whose balls have dropped act as immature as this kid.

Willis may have limitations but at this point just about every player we have does. Seems inability to put the ball in the basket is one of our biggest problems as a team, and Willis is 2nd on the team in scoring per-40 minutes. And this isn't just a volume thing - Willis is 3rd on the team in effective field goal percentage. He turns it over less frequently than anybody but Hawkins and Poythress. And while we may run into bad defense matchups with him, he's hardly the terrible defender some people seem to make him out to be. Looking past our top 6 players (starters plus Poythress), I don't see anybody with better potential to help this team this year than Willis.

absolutely correct........Skal has done virtually nothing thus far, while Willis & even Hump has at least produced something in their very limited playing time

Yeah, Willis with this 5.6 points per game average and his less than 2 rebounds per game average would have made all the difference. I will say, as bad as he's shot the 3 in real games (he's a Blue/White game legend) he's actually now second on our team in 3 percentage at 32% which is above Tyler.

Give me his rebounds and points and blocks per minute played vs others and we will talk!

IMO, Willis has earned some PT. He doesn't need 30 + mins nor should he be our focal point on offense, but he has been contributing. He's looked a lot more comfortable out there this season. He's not the deadeye shooter some make him out to be, but at least his improved his passing and timing this season. Inserting him isn't going to magically make this team better, but he has the tools to be a solid off the bench player.

Seriously, you just need to shut up about this. There's an obvious enough pattern with your posts in recent months to make it clear you've got a racial agenda. It's fine if you wanna make a case for Willis/Humphries, etc. based on their actual performance, but your repeated suggestion that Cal's got some race-based motive to avoid playing white players is just stupid and embarrassing stuff.

And, fwiw, also disproven by the facts. Cal started Josh Harrellson for an entire season, and he started Wiltjer for the majority of the 2013 season and stuck with him a lot longer than some others (including myself) would've in the face of how poorly he was playing. If Cal hasn't started any other white guys it's only because we haven't had any others that were good enough, not because of any racial agenda on his part.
