Petrino/UL banned from recruiting in South Carolina high schools?

Charlie Strong was banned from a school in Cincinnati ohio a few years ago and the program has been just fine. This is just a case of a hs coach going on an ego trip.

It has nothing about 'a coach on an ego trip'. It has to do with a coach ( Petrino) going back on his word 2 DAYS BEFORE SIGNING DAY. Petrino is just being Petrino - he hasn't changed one bit.

Can't stand Petrino, and I'm glad he's being called out for this, but it sure seems like Saban and Fisher are getting a pass here. Both asked committed kids to grayshirt at the last minute.

I know that there is a few recruits out there that honor their commits but the truth is most are just waiting for their next best offer to flip. In this atmosphere I will not get too excited if a school lifts an offer from some recruits if they find better ones to replace them. Verbal commitments have just about become a joke and are not worth the paper that they are not written on.

You're the typical tard fan, if you don't see the cess pool that the Vile is you fit the narrative perfectly.

Check your our roster of players that others got rid of not that it matters to the Vile fans.

Check out out your leaders of young men and their character issues.

is College sports a tough business...sure it is but if you don't see the Vile way of doing business then your ego has blinded you.

Agree. I can't stand Petrino but Saban asked Christian Bell to grayshirt 3 days for NSD. The only difference is that Bell was okay with it. Saban also recently took a defensive lineman who had been kicked off Georgia for an ugly domestic violence incident. Of course, Louisville was interested in him too, although they will claim now that they weren't. It's time Saban quits getting a pass. A guy from bleacher report was on the Finebaum show Tuesday and gushed about Saban (called him the ultimate father figure) and even gushed about Saban's wife. I had to turn it off it was so sickening. Watching the Finebaum show is like listening to UofL talk radio. I guess the ultimate father figure recruits an accused felon for domestic violence to his campus.

Think about if it was your son. He gets an offer from a P5 school. He gets commits and gets excited, buys a few hoodies and tells the world, etc... Then right before signing day, in the second semester of his senior year, he is told that he no longer has a scholarship and has to find a new school.

That scenario is ok with you because a small percentage of high school kids flip late in the recruiting season?

will a administrator please ban all cardinal responders goober Howie does on their board petrino is trash and south Carolina a state that prides itself on the first has banned this scum from their state end of story

I agree with everyone against this move. It was a sucker ass thing to do but what ppl need to realize is the schooly was still there. The kid would just have to delay his col lege admission by four months. Plenty of other coaches do the same thing as Saban did this year too.

The so-called outrage is a bit much considering the offer still stood firm. What is funny is all the scar and Clemson fans bitching and moaning about their hometown kid when neither offered the kid a schooly. But at the end of the day while college football is a business it was still a bad decision. The business aspect of college football presents the win at all cost mentality and in this case it seems like he was being told to greyshirt to make room for the Tcu kid. I dont like it but its all about money and winning now rather than later. A good season next year and all will be forgotten.

Maybe stoops should go after the kid. He fits a need for you all and he is a solid back.

This would not be as big a deal if he wasn't making room for the punk from TCU. That's part of the national outrage. Petrino is a punk and I'm so glad his stench is nowhere near my university.

Check out your post on the national boards about a kid supposedly taking an offer list....

Alot of ppl on this very board lobbied for petrino after joker was let go though but we're not going to get into that topic.

If this happened at any other school especially a sec school you guys wouldn't think to discuss it at all. Let alone have ten threads of the situation on the first page. Some of you are taking this harder than when Damien Harris duped you all for Alabama and i just cant understand the logic behind any of this.

Everybody know petrino is a piece of **** human being but when it comes to coaching stoops is a newborn compared to petrino and you all know it.

Exactly a post from the national board where all football is discussed. It would be different if i came to the UK home board and disrespected your program.

You idiot Lou fans don't seem to understand the MAIN issue here. Is pulling a kids scholly after 8 months a crappy thing to do? Yes but it does happen from time to time and is unfortunate and not a great practice to follow, although Louisville is not the only school guilty here.

NOW, pulling the kids scholly and giving it to that POS who broke into his ex girlfriends apartment and punched her in the face while admitting to such and kicked out of his scholarship at TCU shows what standards your dealing with over there on Floyd.

I would be embarrassed if I were a Louisville fan.

Stoops was a missed interception from beating your butthole coach and team at your place this year. I love the fact that Petrino is being exposed nationally for the jerk that he is. it will make it that much easier when we are recruiting the same kids. Not that we aren't already beating UofL for recruits right now.

ill admit i was one that wanted him here! i made a mistakein judgement and i admitted it, humansmake mistakes but the key is learning from it! something UL hasnt done since the first time Petrino burned them! now im extremely happy that we didnt get him, and i learned he wanted to coach UK and practiclly begged for it and Barnhardt said not a chance in he**!

if I was a Louisville fan I would remove all lousiville nostalgia from body and car while traveling through south Carolina when those folks get pissed they get pissed ask fort sumpter

Is this real life?

How is petrino being exposed when everyone knew he's been a asshole for almost a decade.

And for the poster who said Louisville fans dont see the real situation, maybe you check my first or second post in this topic. Petrino was dead wrong for waiting last minute to notify the player that he would be greyshirted. He never once snatched the kids scholly. What part of that dont you comprehend man?

Like i said before the Tcu kid shouldn't have been a priority just because he fits a neef for the team. The kid and his hs coach were so hell bent on making a public spectacle because of some hurts feelings that they were to impatient to see home national signing day would play out. Ironically we had the Redwine kid who flipped us for Miami. At the end of the day the kid would've had that scholly instead of greyshirting. All and all i wish the kid nothing but good luck.

I am one that thinks a commitment should be a commitment and not just a thing of convenience. This holds true for both parties. If you are only committing if you don't receive an offer from such and such you should make that clear when you commit . A school should tell recruits they might be asked to grey shirt if that is a possibility. Get the picture both parties in this game are guilty of deception. Neither should commit if there is doubt.

You notice that I called it a game. That is what it has become a game of amusement for recruits. This is serious business for the schools but it has become a source of amusement for the top recruits I don't seriously know what can be done to clean this BS up but I think an earlier signing period would be a good start. It would not be a complete solution but at least schools would know the ones that were truly interested in signing with them from those just playing the game.

You say but kids would just wait to sign. I say wait a minute not so.. Most kids would not take the chance of missing out on going to the school they really wanted to attend.
