Papa John Blasts Tom Jurich over Athletics....

Jurich might not be the second coming of Pope Francis, but UofL's athletic program is raking in the cash and their top programs are doing very well overall. He is definitely a power AD.

Raking in cash from a lease deal that is highly questionable, at best. UL literally negotiated with UL representatives who masqueraded as "city officials" to get the deal that brings them in all of their cash. And you probably don't want to open the can of worms that is the UL Foundation and all the shadiness that goes along with that.

If you're proud of how UL has made their money, that's fine. Just don't act like it should be an example of how UK should run their Athletics Dept. I'm quite happy we don't try and copy that cesspool of a university.

I live in Louisville too BB in 502, I'll buy you a few beers to hear the juicy details! lol
I'm not that easy lol, it'll take more than a few :). You would be floored by what you'd hear, all of which is coming directly from inside that department. It's killing me to keep these details to myself haha

He showed absolute disdain for his employees. That hurt them badly. That is why Papa Liar is running ads now talking about the Papa John's "family". Cheaper to buy ads than be fair to the people who let you live in a $40,000,000.00 estatte

Ignorant folks such as yourself, first of all have no clue as to running a business, but your lack of business acumen notwithstanding....Papa Johns is a company that sells Pizza largely through FRANCHISEES who are small business people. They work the stores themselves and do not live in Anchorage. PJ was advocating for his small business franchisees who cannot afford the failed Obamacare dictates or $15/hr living wage nonsense that you snowflake SJW's try to use out of total ignorance. I'd suggest you guys shut up and be glad Pappa has figured out how to get you a pizza down in moms basement.

I hate papa and mama John and Dear John. I swear you guys can hate on anyone. Thread begins in one direction someone moves it in another and now all of BBN hates Papa Johns. Some of you just like to hate on anything. What the Hell is wrong with you people. Love and Peace.

I am 64 years old and have owned two different franchise businesses. One was a ColorTyme franchise with multiple locations. Actually, I know quite a bit about business and franchising. Unlike yourself, from your rather amusing inept post

Papa John worries about the finances but does not give a crap that they ran a brothel over there and embarrassed the university and city.

Priorities I guess. As long as you win.

Then shame on you for your ignorance of the relationship between the franchisor vs the franchisee. You should understand that we are talking about small business. So your comparing the CEO of the Papa Johns Corporate with the local franchisee who often makes pizza himself is rubbish. Ask him what his margin is on his sales and what would happen when guys like you try to dictate labor costs of $30,000 per year ($15/hr) for a teenager on summer break. Do you have any idea the administrative cost of Obamacare much less the increases in premium. I doubt that you have a clue.

I do give him credit for standing up to Jurich in the meeting. Our fans would have used the opportunity to stand up to bash Mitch Barnhart.

I will give him that...in small doses. If he wants my support, he will threaten to pull sponsorship unless they clean up the cesspool. But we know that will never happen.

And his pizza sucks.

I totally agree. I'm even surprised that I am defending him because he was complicit in Pitino to LilBrothel. I have refused to eat his crappy pizza since then. But in the spirit of fairness I am impressed that he has taken on the crime boss. That normally ends with a horse head in your bed.

Give turtleneck some time, it's only been around 24 hours! You know everyone would point the finger at him if it happened right after Papa's smack down!

This isn't going away any time soon , the legal ramifications to come will draw this out for many many months lol. The details some of us get to hear that haven't been made public yet are down right juicy....Bernie Madoff would be embarrassed to hear such things.

BTW there's more going on on top of the forensic audit. More secondary things have come to light as a result of the forensic audit, that have birthed other investigations, I'll leave it at that
Come on.... can't hit and run. What "other things?"

Maybe he changed, but Schanatter was not liked in high school. Arrogant, lazy and spent all of his time butt sniffing teachers. A lot of kids thought he was going to be a politician or a used car salesman. The funniest part was he thought he was an athletic natural when, in reality, he wasn't talented, at all. Really sucked but you'd have never convinced him. The first Papa John's was an old KFC in Jeffersonville. The stories you hear are how he built it from scratch (out of the back of his car....yards yada). We (the other kids in his class) remember it as his dad starting it. Small town. Nothing was secret. No matter how it all came down, more power to him. I think everyone had the politician/salesman part right....you probably need that to do what he did. The lazy part came from the fact he ALWAYS fell asleep in class, but somehow always stayed in the teachers' good graces. Another thing the guys thought was funny ...we all tried to remember a single pickup basketball game when John ever passed us the ball. No one could. Biggest ball hog ever. Too bad we all weren't smart enough to overlook the silly stuff. We'd probably be rich.

Man I really wish I could, really do! But if I let out what I have been told right now, this person will be quickly identified & fired from inside that department. No worries though I am told there will be more details coming soon that can be shared. As of right now the people that know of these specific details are in very very small circle. I can't put that person's livelihood at risk. Once I'm told it's ok to share specific details I'll share here.

I'll say this much. The sophistication of how certain university money was laundered, embezzled, hidden for uses that would never been approved by an upstanding university is something straight out of a spy movie. The layers upon layers upon layers of deception is mind boggling.
Take whatever expectations you had about how diabolical UofL was in their corruption & multiply that by 10. I know that's vague, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to all I was told. And without getting into details that is all I can give right now for reasons listed above......You don't bite the hand that feeds you stuff like this.

Don't take this the wrong way BB502, but I have a man crush on you right now! lol

Years of sanctimonious attitudes and viciously false innuendos about UK have made me revel in this increasingly delicious implosion of city college in Louisville. Can't wait for the details!

I just hope something FINALLY happens to them that matches all the shady things that have gone on. Even to this date, with just the scandals that have come to light, nothing has really happened to anyone. I want to be optimistic, but at this point I just can't talk myself into believing justice will actually be served. I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed as living in this city for the past 12 years has taught me how utterly despicable that athletic department and university truly are.

You could be right but I don't trust the ul sack hanger.
Neither do I. But containment has been lost now. The outcome will ultimately depend on factors largely under control of people outside the city of Louisville. Although we can never be sure what the NCAA Infractions Committee will decide, the NCAA's fast rejection of UL's explanations bodes poorly for the outcome. If the NCAA drops the hammer on UL (I'm not saying they will or won't), then progressive forces on their new Board will clean house.

Don't like either one of them. BUT, if forced to chose I'd give Jurich the edge only because he has balls.
LOL! Just wow. UL is the object of a major NCAA investigation, and new elements on UL's Board seem to want Jurich out. Aside from baseball, there isn't a significant sport anymore where UL has a clear edge over Kentucky. And even in baseball, Kentucky is ranked. I guess you are 1 of the holdovers who still can't admit that the athletics director has something to do with Kentucky's success in sports.

I love the guy. He never remembers my name but knows he knows me from somewhere and is a big time man hugging brother.

In Chicago in 2014 he yells at me and is like how have you been man, goes on and on. No idea of my name.

He ran up on me in Brooklyn for the MD game and was toasted, took him to my seats. Wish I could find that pic. He is really nice and tons of fun if you can keep up with him.

No real reason for the guy to remember my name we have just been at the same events and talked, but the guy never forgets a face.
Was your wife with you? Could explain why he remembers you. Just sayin'...[winking]

A long time ago, in a previous life, I was an accountant and occasionally did fraud audits. The two worst cases I did had one thing in common: both companies were started by a single dude, and eventually went public after a long time of the one guy running everything. After you go public, it's not "yours" anymore, you don't own and control everything like in the good old days. But in each case, the founder never made that transition, never realized he was just one of thousands of owners. And in each case, there was fraud, the founder continued to do what he wanted, taking money here and there. It was kinda like Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men - he wanted to say he ordered the code red, he's the damn general and he knows what's best and all these panzies thinking they know better! The founder wanted to say, you could tell, yes I took the money I started the damn place it wouldn't even be here if it weren't for me!

UofL strikes me the same way. This town knelt at the feet of Jurich and Ramsey (Pitino too), they had a board of yes men, they were allowed to do whatever they wanted with no questions asked. After a while of that, you start to feel like you're the king, you can do whatever you want. You own the place, it's yours. I can hear them now - "when we got here this was a third rate school with a $20 million athletic budget and a dilapidated baseball park for a football stadium. You owe everything to us!"

Well Damn it guys Matt Jones just let out one of the things I was told. Again without going into any more detail the depth of deception involved in the audit is mind boggling! Part of what I was told when I last posted on here was about a potential TJ buyout due to the amount of crooked $$$ handling. The board and many in the athletic department are embarrassed about what will come out in June. They feel like there's 1 common denominator....TJ.

Also as Jones eluded to the amount of money missing, how it was hidden and where they put it is on a level Madoff couldn't obtain. The accreditation issue may also stretch out another 3+ years. Heads are going to roll.

If all of this is true, I don't see how the board couldn't just fire TJ as opposed to trying to buy him out. I'm sure there's a lot of legalese that would need to be sifted through, but paying a guy that is a linchpin in all the corruption to go away seems like the wrong way to fix this.

Because a buyout pays for silence. Firings bring out dirty laundry. But I agree they should fire him and clean house and let it all out and start over.

I have a hard time believing the dirty laundry isn't coming out after the audit hits, assuming what some are saying about the audit itself is true.

From what I'm told they won't just outright fire him. This has been discussed behind closed doors now for a while as the audit has progressed. More and more corruption has been found and it's becoming more and more an embarrassment ( as if all the scandals for years wasn't enough) It's all been tolerated in the name of winning and building up the university. But when it's now becoming a black eye on the university as a whole & the city to a degree is created now back lash to try to buy out TJ. Again there's secondary investigation on smaller levels that have branched from the forensic audit. Any moral fiber involving $$$ that may have existed has all but disappeared from the massive $ deals all the way down too the every day employee in that department.

For all that's been built and all the marquee coaches making crazy money........funded Basically out of thin air in the eye of the general public. There's always a price paid on the other end where that money is being "stolen" from. Eventually taking money from the hand that feeds you catches up.

When you create bogus "codes" to hide $ and buy certain "entities" to hide more money, and then say you have no money to operate beyond 1 month. People then go ape shit to find where all that money went. Any financial move made the last 5 years was made to cover up the last proverbial impropriety. Eventually you run out room to hide your improprieties.

Just to correct you, the only sport that is close is football. That's because of Kentucky. Even that shouldn't be close.

As far as baseball, they had a very embarrassing streak on us. However, we totally own the series against them. I haven't check it in several years, but at one point we were up on them by like 75 games.
