Papa John Blasts Tom Jurich over Athletics....

Exactly.

They will turn this around for sure.
"We don't have any cash" means they aren't making enough money on the Yum Center.
"Fix athletics" means find a way to squeeze more money out of the taxpayers

Seriously they will figure out a way to spin this. Wait and see.

I'm not buying Papa's bull. This is the same guy who said he couldn't afford to give his employees health insurance, had employees working under full time hours and said the cost of insurance would cause the rise of pizza costs .14 cents.

Meanwhile, he's the face of the NFL, MLB and his ads are plastered all over every other sporting event in the country. Suddenly, we're to believe he's the voice of college students. Guessing somewhere this effects his bottom line and that's all he's worried about.

Well, if you ever run a business, I hope your bottom line is your main concern. If not, you won't run it long. As for affording insurance, he is right. A typical franchise unit only makes 60-70K/year. If you add in the cost for insurance, that would reduce them to 40-50K/year. Sorry, but a business owner has a right to expect a decent return on investment. If he didn't, the jobs would not exist.

I think if I had the money and business success that Papa has right now, I think you could afford to pay your employees insurance.

Insurance isn't my point. My point is Papa Johns doesn't care about anyone but Papa Johns. This affects his bottom line somewhere and that's why he's whining about it.

Not sure what business you own, but as a relatively successful business owner myself, it's usually a good idea to invest in your employees. If you want them to invest themselves in your company and mission that is. If you're struggling with the basic cost of owning and operating a business you should probably hold off on hiring any employees, or maybe consider working for a company instead of owning one.

Perhaps you misunderstood. I wasn't talking about me, I was talking about a Papa Johns franchise. The stores revenue is limited. Maybe take your overwhelming business acumen and produce a better business model for Papa Johns. The poor guy clearly needs your help. What a maroon.

I love the guy. He never remembers my name but knows he knows me from somewhere and is a big time man hugging brother.

In Chicago in 2014 he yells at me and is like how have you been man, goes on and on. No idea of my name.

He ran up on me in Brooklyn for the MD game and was toasted, took him to my seats. Wish I could find that pic. He is really nice and tons of fun if you can keep up with him.

No real reason for the guy to remember my name we have just been at the same events and talked, but the guy never forgets a face.

I wasn't aware common sense equated to "overwhelming business acumen." I doubt he really needs my help, Nor would most business owners. It simply comes down to them not wanting to pay the cost because they would prefer to see that money in their bank accounts. Just basic greed really. And of course, the easiest excuse in the book is we can't afford it.

They don't have to work there. Work somewhere else that has insurance. When working at a pizza shop is a job suited for the skill level of a 16 year old, not people who are worried about how they are going to pay for a colonoscopy.

I've got one word for you: Lip Service
That's 2 words. LOL! But this isn't lip service. The pizza guy is just telling it like it is. UL has replaced its Board, and some new members believe the only solution is to clean house. The reformers may have an uphill path. So far, the NCAA has rejected Jurich's attempts to mitigate the allegations and protect Pitino. But if the NCAA hammers them (more likely than people here think), then Jurich would be toast over there. This has been developing for a while, and the pizza guy is just saying what other Board members have already implied.

You could be right but I don't trust the ul sack hanger.

Guys there's a much deeper 2nd audit going on right now. Papa John is right....the athletic department has had free reign at that university, free of any accountability. In doing so they've treated certain entities as their personal piggy bank, you'll soon find out that the cost to win has bled the university far more than any of us could've imagined............... All of this will soon be out for the world to see. It's funny how many in power there turned a blind eye in the name of winning. It's now coming back to bite them in the ass.

I'll say this........All the upgrades, all the big time pay to coaches in non revenue sports, etc doesn't come free...it comes from places it never should've come from. The amount of $$$ and the places that $$$ came from will be a staggering amount that could very well cripple the university if not corrected.

John Schnatter sees this and understands the root of the problem starts with the athletic department. He wants to cut the proverbial rope ( cleaning house & accountability) to the anchor dragging down the ship.

He's the I've guy in that board willing to tell it like it is while everybody else is in damage control mode. There's a reason they asked him to stop talking about it today in the open forum. They wanted it moved to the closed forum and he refused to be quiet. Nobody else has the balls to stand up to TJ.

More surprises from the forensic audit of the foundation? Surely not.

Lmbo. Brother more than you can imagine!!!! Things will get nastier than a hooker squirting to the ceiling. This isn't going away any time soon , the legal ramifications to come will draw this out for many many months lol. The details some of us get to hear that haven't been made public yet are down right juicy....Bernie Madoff would be embarrassed to hear such things.

BTW there's more going on on top of the forensic audit. More secondary things have come to light as a result of the forensic audit, that have birthed other investigations, I'll leave it at that

He showed absolute disdain for his employees. That hurt them badly. That is why Papa Liar is running ads now talking about the Papa John's "family". Cheaper to buy ads than be fair to the people who let you live in a $40,000,000.00 estatte

Jurich might not be the second coming of Pope Francis, but UofL's athletic program is raking in the cash and their top programs are doing very well overall. He is definitely a power AD.
