Oweh

He’s just not an NBA type prospect though. Slow hitch jumper, slasher type with below average playmaking ability, average to below average height for position etc. I’ve been telling y’all for awhile this. I love Oweh and there is nothing wrong with being a very good college player. He could average 25 a game this season and still not an NBA 1st rounder.
There are guys all over the NBA who can't bring all the attributes that Oweh does. The list is long. Explosive, incredible finisher at the rim, tough as nails competitor, can match up with anyone physically in terms of strength, speed and pure athleticism. Add in smart, terrific attitude and a great teammate. He might not get drafted, but the league is full of free agents and it just takes one GM with the good sense to have a proven warrior on the team.

NIL changed the game, it makes more sense for guys like him to be a college star than to be a G League/foreign league player.
That’s the one positive about this whole mess. The guys who make better college players than pro players are going to be sticking around. It actually makes financial sense.

In some ways, yes. But he'll need to fix his jumpshot mechanics, and he knows that this, with another year of Pope's development, he could be a NPOY candidate and top 10 pick.
NPOY candidate is plausible but top 10 pick is out of the question.
Oweh is a JR so he's been scouted and is not currently a second round pick.
The NBA just doesn't change their mind on a player to that degree especially a 22 yr old Senior.

I said before the season started that I thought he may be our most important player this year (barring injuries). You could argue it is Butler, it may be Butler, but Oweh is right there with him.

But he has lost confidence in his 3pt shot. He passes up a couple wide open ones every game.
First 10 games he was 11-30 3pt, 36.3%, 3.0 attempts/gm
Last 8 games he is 4-13, 30.8%, 1.6 attempts/gm
Confidence is a big factor in making shots.

Yeah I would like to see him start launching open 3’s again. He’s not a bad catch and shoot guy. It would keep the defense more honest. At least he doesn’t force the issue. He knows it’s a relative weakness so he’s picky.

The point I was making was, if Steph Curry can get to the NBA and sustain it the way he has, there's no reason a guy like Oweh couldn't. Can Steph even dunk?
Wasn’t trying to disprove you or anything, just thought it was an interesting “gee whizz” that most people have forgotten.

Why do you think Oweh isn’t high on any mock boards? Do you think you are seeing qualities that NBA scouts are not seeing? I’m curious.

Also, do you believe the NBA places high value on 6’4” slashers in 2025?

As a side note, I really hope we can learn to re-evaluate what success means for a player these days. We will see plenty of very good players who are successful but don’t project highly at the NBA level
