Doubt it, if you ever notice after most independent investigations the university will self report and then self impose penalties hoping that the NCAA will go along with their self imposed sanctions which usually aren't nearly as harsh as the NCAA would impose. UNC seems worried but not nearly worried enough to impose any type of sanctions, wouldn't be surprised to see them get slapped lightly on the wrist or what's most likely nothing happens at all.
with the class unc got, i have to believe they are telling recruits that they think they are good. i mean, they got some studs and flipped strow from us and just going off history, they should never see a bowl the next 4 years and should have major scholly reductions. this is eerily similiar to miami situation..... everyone knows major cheating happened but nothing much in punishment.... and aren't they still under something from butch jones tenure? that was only like 4 years ago that he got caught cheating there.
I believe that UNC will self-impose sanctions which the NCAA will accept. If UNC doesn't step up and do the right thing the NCAA is going to have to come down on them. If they allow such blatant infractions to go unpunished there will be too many conference and university officials wondering why they are allowing a toothless tiger like the NCAA to skim hundreds of millions of dollars from the basketball tournament.
From the look of what Syracuse just did, I'd say UNC will wait until their teams look to be having a bad season, and then "self-impose" a one year postseason ban on a team that had a snowball's chance in hell of making the tournament/bowl game in the first place. The NCAA is a complete joke.
UNC is helped by the fact that their basketball team was also heavily involved. If it were just their football team the NCAA would hammer them. The NCAA would be forced to take a title from Roy and vacate a ton of his wins. The NCAA doesn't want any part of that
The NCAA was a joke to start with, but they are still trying to recover from the laugher that their investigation of the U turned out to be. If they couldn't afford to investigate a proven cheater like hurtt at a renegade program like jurich runs at UL I doubt very much they want to take on UNC.
