I posted on the Paddock but hadn't much input, as engagement level is pretty low over there. I'm adding to RRs to hopefully get more insights for myself and other future posters who are looking at attending other UK sports outside of Men's Basketball and Football.

I am taking my daughter to her (and my) first UK volleyball game next weekend for senior night at Memorial. Any tips or suggestions to make this a great experience for her?

We've been to a handful of Men's Basketball games and always enjoy those, especially going courtside for the postgame. For anyone who has attended VB at Memorial.. anything good to share?

You’ll enjoy it. UK is a national power and a recent national champ. Young team but they are in first place in the SEC by only 1 game so they will be playing. Really have improved.

I enjoy watching them. My wife played so I have become a fan. Great coach in Craig Skinner. He’s fearless with his early scheduling. Took a few Ls early but nobody’s surprising them now.

Move down to lower seats if they aren’t occupied. You will be shocked at the speed and team work.

UK has a few potential AAs on the squad and are building another title team. I think they start 1 senior? They have a chance this year to advance a long way.

Enjoy it

Agree with all this. They are fun to watch and you definitely can keep an eye open to move down to lower seats near mid court after the natch has gotten underway. Maybe wait to halfway through 1st set so late comers are settled in. Might be able to see if you can get her down near floor to meet players, or watch, during pre-game warm-ups. Look for mini volleyballs being thrown into stands during player introductions. Coliseum is beautiful now with renovation. We have season tickets and this team is starting to play their best ball so you should be in for a treat. Yell a lot and have fun. Action is fast and quick.

Thank you all. We're sitting near the top of the lower section. We'll definately try to get close to the court for pregame and maybe move down closer if seats are available.

Do they sell volleyballs for after gaming signing like they do for basketball?

Memorial looks like a beautifully done renovation from tv. Personally I enjoy girls college volleyball (that joke won’t be as funny when my 2 daughters are older). I do enjoy watching good volleyball and my understanding is they are pretty good this year. Should be a fun time.

First, you'll love the re-design of Historic Memorial Coliseum. By itself, it is worth going to either a volleyball or WBB game.

Second, the game against Arkansas is at 4:00pm, so depending on the age of your daughter (better maybe if she's a little older like middle school age or above), then after the game, take her to the Champions Kitchen (open Sundays 5-10pm for dinner) inside the Gatton Student Center across the street from the coliseum. It's a little known fact that the public -- as opposed to just faculty, staff, and students -- can use the main UK dining facility called the "Champions Kitchen." The cost is $12.98 plus tax, but that includes your choice of many different selections of foods served that night, plus desserts and drinks all included. As a staff member and season ticket holder (and sometimes student!), I really enjoy the food, the atmosphere, and the convenience of being able to top off a game with dinner there, which even at the public price (staff price is discounted) is a great deal. Your daughter will experience first hand the college environment -- a great way to introduce her to life at UK and the possibilities of getting her college education there. As a UK grad and a born member of BBN, I love UK for so many reasons, and this one of them (I like to eat!). It will be a fun way to share some time with your daughter. They really do a superb job at the Champions Kitchen.

Finally, the volleyball we play at UK is lots of fun to watch. There will probably be a big crowd, so get there early to get a decent parking spot. Consult ukathletics.com for details on things you need to know before the game. Cheers! Max

Watch DeLeye... Pure power esp from back row.

Libero is special too. Great setter too.

It's easy to get caught up following the ball.. try to watch a few points away from the ball and enjoy the teamwork. Volleyball is about teamwork... Trusting each other and everyone on task/assignment.

Had daughters that played in college. Fun sport. Some tall girls playing vball
