OT Reds continue dominance of Cubs; move within 5.5 of 1st

Cincy now 6-3 v Chicago this season, all series wins.

Now we get some right handed pitching coming to town with Milwaukee.

That means:
Votto
Winker
Dietrich
Gennett

Reds are in this thing.

Slow your roll. Still in last place looking up at Pittsburgh. Blind squirrels find nuts. Cubs and Brewers still the class of the division. By the way there is a baseball forum.

That's a nice series win, but the Reds are still in last place and they have the 4th worst record in the NL. They're only 4.5 back of the last wild card spot but they really need to start playing good consistent ball for them to be considering contenders of any kind.

I’m a reds homer as well kwilt, but we need to see what wood can bring, and see what trades we can make if we have a snowballs chance of signing anyone in the offseason. I’d love to keep Iglesias, double d, Roark, hell we gotta figures scooter and peralta are gone. We also need to somehow keep puig as well

Love the Reds but they take 2 step forwards and 3 back. Against the rest of their division they’ve only won 9 games. I’ve been a fan since 1968. I was 12 years old and we won our little league championship. We got to go to a Reds game. Hank Arron hit a 4 run homer and won the game. Pete was playing right field that day. He caught a long out within 12” of my face that day. That will be in my memory forever. He caught the ball and looked right at me. He then handed me the ball and said here you go boy.

Getting back to our recent team. I love them and we have a group that could get in the playoffs. We have got to start winning against the rest of the league to make that happen.

A team whose manager took out a starting pitcher with 73 pitches through 6 innings and a shutout to chase runs with 2 outs. The Reds will win games in spite of David Bell(like they already have), but not nearly enough to overcome him and make the Wildcard. I'm not going to get my hopes up. Just pretend it's 3 years later and hire

Kev where in the hell have you been? I’ve missed you Buddy. Glad you’re back my friend.
Doing well OC. I hope you’re doing well also.

I’m taking a break from RR, but I’ve been on the Lair and the Paddock.

Life is really good. Trying my best to enjoy each and every day, I hope you’re doing the same.

As the great Travis Tritt sings...It’s a great day to be alive!

David will grow into the job. It’s going to take time. Just because they name you manager doesn’t mean you immediately know how to.

He’ll be fine. He’s learning. Hell, Mark Stoops is still learning and growing into being a good coach, and he’s heading into year seven.

Give David Bell some time man.

6 of 9 the Reds have won against the Cubs this year. Hilarious sight watching their bandwagon fans haul ass out of the stands like they were on fire when Cincinnati tacked on 5 more in the bottom of the 8th. Raisel still remains a problem and I think a lot is between the ears. He's better than a 4.41 ERA. No where near his career numbers.

I'm a diehard cubs fan and were the worst first place team in the majors which makes the reds the best worst place team in baseball. Not sure that says much. Cincy will be out of it completely by august.

I just don't see it, but I hope I'm wrong. I've got to pull for a fellow Crusaders alum.

You’re cute. I’m 52 and not drunk. I’d also kick the shit out of your pathetic ass.

Anytime you want to go, let’s go. We’ll see how tough you are in person.
You are most definitely drunk

Have just lost way too many one run games so far. Middle relief is a major problem and it seems as when the Reds do score runs the pitching collapses. They have improved over last season but still a long way to go in order to attain a level of respectability.

That 8 game losing streak at the beginning is hurting them bad right now.

And naturally, right on cue, their middle relief collapses in the 7th inning blowing a 3-1 lead in a loss to Milwaukee . . . :weary:

Bullpen has given up a ton o' runs in the last 3 games no doubt, but good lord with todays bullpens being 8 sometimes 9 deep and you have a manager who stubbornly almost sadistically uses only 4 of them is just asinine.

Bell's decision to take DeSclafani out Sunday with a shutout and 67 pitches was borderline insane and could've maybe should've bit him in the butt, last night I was fine with yanking Mahle after the Cain homerun but dragging out Hernandez day after day after day goes back to the sadistic comment.

I like Hernandez but have mercy any body with eyes could see he had nothing from the first pitch last night and no one was warming up behind him.....again sadistic.

You've got guys down there who can contribute like Bowman and Hughes who never pitch..... Lorenzen, Iglesias, Garrett, Hernandez...that's it.

Reds have had a long list of managers who were in way over their heads from the first day when given the job because basically they worked cheap, Bell is certainly at or near the top of that list.

Told a buddy of mine a while ago that Bell makes Dave Miley look like Tony LaRussa.

Unfortunately the consequences of an overworked bullpen in the first half. If they're within 5 games still around the July 31st trade deadline, maybe they acquire a new reliever or keep plugging away within the minor league organizations for another Matt Bowman.

Great hustle and baserunning by Puig to never break stride scoring off of Iglesias' walk-off hit and a poor throw by Thames.

Watching. 8 spectacular shutout innings. Milwaukee really wanted Gray for awhile but couldn't get a deal like the Reds did.

3-0 win vs Milwaukee coming from behind in the series. 2 straight series wins over division foes in Chicago & Milwaukee. Hope Scooter is okay and his removal from the game was just precautionary reasons. 4.5 GB out of 1st place, 4 games under .500.

Back to back nights Starters going into the 8th. Would have been 8 full again for Castillo without the rain delay. 3 games under .500 3.5 behind the Brew Crew in 1st. NL Central is MLB's tightest division.
