OT: Abbey Steiner is BACK!!

I believe she ran 4.8 40 yard dash in 2018. Probably a good bit faster now. Not Barion fast of course, but likely faster than some of our skill guys.

She is blistering fast for a female, but her personal best for 100m is 10.9 and is 5'6" maybe 130 lbs. I suspect her 4.8 would be at the bottom end of UK's skill player times in the 40 with TEs being the ones she could run with

I hope she makes the Olympic team, multiple events hopefully and brings home some gold. The other elite UK female, Sydney McClothin I am a little concerned about her. I believe she is coming off some injuries and looking to expand her events but seems to be a little undecided on which events. She is without question the number 1 400m hurdler in the world, I just hope she doesn't get distracted, that lady from the Netherlands seems focused.

They she and Abby were on the same 4 X 400 team that won a world championship.

I’m hoping to see both on our Olympic Team.

It wouldn’t take much to talk me into flying to Paris for a couple of days, this Summer, if they make the team. It would be cool to treat the world to a little “Go Big Blue,” chant before and after a few events!!

I would like to see them both make it too. If she is 100% Sydney may be the surest member of the female track team, be a huge surprise if she isn't on it. AS will have to be at her best, several ladies are grouped very close. I hope she makes it un one of her single events and believe she can, but with all the relays and alternates I believe she gets to Paris.

She has the backend speed but needs to get better on her starts to contend for a medal in the Olympics. Some of her times for the last 50 to 100 is nuts.

Might be in her best interest to concentrate on the 200 or 400 this go around. Can't give the start away in 100m where every lane has someone elite. But that's up to her and her coaches. But unless I misread it Sydney Mc posted the year's fastest 400m hurd time in the world this year. So maybe my concern bout her being distracted wasn't necessary. Anything can happen in a hurdle event, but she is likely to bring home another G. But the girl from the Netherlands is very good too, she will force Sydney to be on top of her game.

Sid is doing regular sprints now too and is burning that up. I think she's going to try for a special summer this year.

I saw earlier where she ran 100 and 200. Not sure what her favorite events are, but the thing about the Olympics is all the qualifying just wears on a competitor. I think she picks 2 events 400H and either 200 or 400 plus at least 1 relay and possibly more. But they can sit all the prelims out of a relay and just run the finals

I've not heard a play but just looking at what she's doing... It looks like she might try for 6 medals. 4 individual and 2 relay... This is total speculation on my part and haven't actually heard anything. Just noticed she is acting way different this year as opposed to past years.

Watch her run in comparison to her opponents. No head-bobbing or turning side-to-side. She is very compact in her use of her arms, and just a very clean runner.

Sydney just ran a 200m against the best including Abby.

Let that sink in for a minute. Sydney is a 400m hurdle specialist who is also running the 400m flat. Now she is adding a pure sprint race, the 200m. Sydney is doing the impossible and making it look easy. She is as rare and special as Secretariat was.

Are you talking about SM or AS? SM runs 2 of the most physically challenging events in track and field, the 400H and flat 400 are something else. I am guessing the 100 and 200 are the other two individual events. I don't know if she has the footspeed to run compete in the 100m. But if the spacing is in her favor I can see her medaling in the other 3, heck maybe even winning them. Relays are exciting and may be one of the most watched events, but so many things can go wrong in them, especially the 4X100. But I would think it would be pretty darn cool for a UK fan to have AS and SM on both the 4X100 and 4X400. Now we even have a mixed 4X400, which the strategy on those are kind of interesting.

Did you see the 200m I posted.

Just watched it, clearly SM was the cream of that field, if she decides to run the 200 hard to believe she won't make the team. AS will have a tougher time, but I think she will be in the hunt.

But the thing about track is, you have to do it that day, what you did a month ago doesn't matter.

Sydney could do the 200 but I think she is just using it to help the 2nd half of the 400. She wants to dominate and its beautiful to watch. Abby will be fine. She's still coming back from bone spurs in a foot.

I am in process of dealing with a bone spur on my heal, one of worst things I have dealt with. Dr's won't fix it because of my age, like stepping on a nail every step. So I know what she was dealing with and no way she could compete with that.

I hope it gets better for you. I had them in my shoulder joint. They are no joke.
