Must be because Lucas left. 😂If they go somewhere else, then you know the culture and locker room are bad.

ExactlyBut under Cal's system once he gets his 7-8 guys everyone else becomes practice buddies and bench warmers. If he was know for giving the rest time and develops backup players maybe he could get more players. He did it to himself.
The fact we are not the king of the SEC in basketball anymore speaks volumes. It's one thing not to be as competitive nationally. It's another to be the the fourth or fifth best team in the SEC now. Sad.To me, from viewing that list, my biggest take away----and I think it is a rather sad indictment on the state of the program given how the program has been marketed since Cal got here----is Arkansas, UConn, Indiana and Creighton are believed to have more NBA talent than UK. I can understand how/why Duke, (cheating/unpunished Kansas and North Carolina) may compete with UK for draft picks, but not the first 4.
And what if the NIL money was not there? How greater would the impact be?I certainly hope Oscar chooses to return, but his position in these rankings isn’t what I found most interesting.
What jumped out to me is that 3 out of the first 6 draft picks are projected to be kids from either G League Ignite or Overtime Elite.
It will be interesting to see what type of impact that might have on elite players deciding on whether to play in college or choose one of these alternate routes.
that's what the word "upside" meansNBA draft on how good you possibly could get, not on how good you are.
He’s not gonna get much nba money. Probably ever. He won’t ever get drafted high and he’s probably at his best right now. NIL is a one time shot. He’d be crazy to pass it upRight - more money in that one year allegedly. But the NBA is where the real money is if he can stick and get the second contract. So he took more in the short term for potentially less in the long run.
A lot of that was fans being impatient and wanting to get the roster finalized ASAP. They wanted to sign Dickinson and have a stud 5 man locked in. Since that didn’t happen, now our best hope is Tshiebwe returning. So that’s the big change. It's funny what a month will do. I remember reading post after post about how it was time to move on from Oscar. Now most say we are sunk if he doesn't come back.🙄
I always wanted him back for the record and think with these Freshman he would fit really well. I think he could improve his stock some by coming back. He got off to a slow start with the knee surgery and most talk was what's wrong with Oscar. A full healthy year with great talent around him, no Wheels to start the year and a few more pcs (hopefully we still get, worried though) I think he could be the POY level player again. Especially if his jumper keeps improving. I mean he's never going to be a first rounder but he's out as of now, where I think he could be a grinder on the right NBA team.
Disagree on Oscar. Agree with what you said if you are talking about Livingston. Oscar has given his all for two years and it sounds like he loves UK. He is old and may just be ready to move on. Don’t think it has anything to do with supposed problems within the program. Livingston. That’s a different story. Something weird going on there. If he is that far down the board and he decides NOT to return to UK then he just wants out. I'm not saying he is wrong or making a bad choice but if this is the case then there is a serious problem with the program.
Reeves leaving would also be a joke.Disagree on Oscar. Agree with what you said if you are talking about Livingston. Oscar has given his all for two years and it sounds like he loves UK. I'm among those who don't see how the 2nd coming of Paul Mokeski somehow equates to a "stud 5 man." But reasonable minds can differ.A lot of that was fans being impatient and wanting to get the roster finalized ASAP. They wanted to sign Dickinson and have a stud 5 man locked in. Since that didn’t happen, now our best hope is Tshiebwe returning. So that’s the big change.
I get your point and agree Oscar has given his all to UK. I think Oscar can make more money by returning to UK for a year vs the NBA. He will have the same (or near the same) draft status next year as he does now and have more money in his pocket. Oscar will never be a long term NBA player. He seems to like being here so why not live out the best of his situation. I wish the best for Oscar what ever he does.Disagree on Oscar. Agree with what you said if you are talking about Livingston. No they love Cal because he is all about the NBA when he should be about UK.That is why Oscar came back last year and Cal was able to get another number one recruiting class. These kids just hate UK and playing for Cal.
