I stand on a hill, not for thrill, but for the breath of a fresh kill. And never mind the man who contemplates doing away with license plates. He stands alone anyhow, baking the cookies of discontent by the heat of the laundromat vent.Say what!

Maybe he can bring Ayton along to recruit.Sean Miller would win here if you strike out on all the obvious ppl. It would like be similar to Sampson getting caught up and then remaking his career at Houston. But Miller can coach and his family wouldn’t have tk move far at all
The same candidates there are now will be the same in 3-4 years. It’s not like there is some savant coming through the ranks anytime soon. Not sure if this was posted or not already but full quote below….
“On the administrative side, I've heard it's not as much a financial issue as it is a lack of clear-cut candidates you're certain will be upgrades over Coach Cal. If there was a guy Mitch Barnhart knew was a fit, he'd make a move. It just can't be an emotional decision without an answer you buy into completely with so much on the line.”
"They're tired of the underwhelming results," one source told KSR. "But if you move on, who do you go get? That's the question."
You are the Moron. Stupid illiterate comment. Did you graduate from grade school?
Good point. It’s a point I made yesterday myself. But this is not at all the same kind of situation. Duke and unc both had HOF coaches ride off into the sunset. They had a succession plan in place and they had a plan to keep their recruits and move forward harmoniously.People can say all they want that Cal is the only guy who can get the job done at Kentucky. But what about Duke? What about UNC? How are their seasons going with new coaches? They gambled on guys and now look at both teams.

This is the number one reason Cal will be back. Mitch had his guy he was very comfortable and confident in for years but now he's off the table.Barney wanted to hire Drew but he just got an extension with a huge buyout, so he's off the table.
Billy, Brad Stevens, Mark Few, Scott Drew. I’d like Jay Wright too but I can’t see him leaving The Main Line. None of these guys are all about themselves and, they’d having winning championships at UK AS their 1-100I mean from not likely to would happen…
Billy Donovan
Jay Wright
Danny Hurley
Scott Drew
Nate Oats
Bruce Pearl
Tang
Paris at South Carolina
I’d take any of these as an upgrade over Cal… if you can win at a smaller school UK sells itself we just need a damn coach that actually coaches!!
This post is funny because the things he says in it highlight the exact reasons why you can’t bring him back. The amount of pressure on next years team if he comes back would be in a level never seen before
@Pope John Wall II went out in a limo explosion. True story.Colonel Bruce RIP
The man went out living his dream.
Drew was his guy but UL made a huge play for him which got him a new contract with a large buyout. Paying Cal, Drew and Drew's buyout is probably more than we can afford. So Barney doesn't think Drew is an upgrade at this point?
Barney is a moron. There are tons of upgrades.
Barney also wouldn't know basketball enough to understand McCasland and Tang helped build Drew's roster that won. This crap I'm watching today is Gillespie like in terms of no offensive flow--spread iso "do 'em" nonsense and then defensively they are lost. But hey--he's a Drew so that matters to Barney.Barney wanted to hire Drew but he just got an extension with a huge buyout, so he's off the table.
I’ve said this . Ending up with 4th or 5th choice, and having a lame roster for a couple of years we’re back to everyone being in a bad way fast enough. Stomach one more year with a good roster, and you can spend quite a while putting out feelers or whatever you do to get the right guy in here. Maybe even a renegotiated deal or somethingNot sure if this was posted or not already but full quote below….

How would you feel about Billy Donovan?Barney also wouldn't know basketball enough to understand McCasland and Tang helped build Drew's roster that won. He's had his guy for years but UL screwed it up.Totally ridiculous that the AD of Univ of Ky does not at least have some feel about what would be next, when this has been building for 2/3 years.
That’s a very good point. If the AD at Kentucky can’t figure out potential candidates for a MBB coach…then why is he is the AD at Kentucky?
Exactly! You don't know unless you ask!You won’t know until you offer someone like Hurley the job. Make an offer that will make the top guys think. Go after every big name. Ask Few, ask them all. Figure it out Mitch, this is your legacy now. Cal let you down big time but that contract you gave him caused a lot of this.
The problem with your thinking is that you're making a case that Cal can still do the job. He can't. Not anymore. There are 3-5 guys who can do the job, and one of them already has it. Thus, if you're going to get rid of a national championship winning, multi-FF, coach you best be sure one of the other very few dudes who can do it is lined up and a lock.

I already know next years team will crumble before even watching it. Cal has been scared in every single postseason since 2020. The players play the exact same way. Old or not, the pressure will crumble them. Every loss will be the worst. Calipari will be an absolute nutcase on the sideline. We may switch lineups 15 times a half.
This post is funny because the things he says in it highlight the exact reasons why you can’t bring him back. The amount of pressure on next years team if he comes back would be in a level never seen before
Good roster? Our roster next year is a bunch of middling recruits.I’ve said this . That's Frosty Tips account and I'm calling BS on the entire post. There's no way he's connected to Tommy Lloyd's thinking in any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe if he returns the arena can be empty. Then he will lose the excuse that the home crowd made them not win(that’s a new one for me.)Again I'll say it. If Cal is back then I'm done. I know no one else on this board or the UK administration cares. I will keep my money in my pocket not that it was a lot to begin with but it is a lot to me. Cal puts anything and everything above and in front of the UK basketball program. As long as he is the coach I will not attend any more games, buy any UK merch, or watch UK basketball on TV. I'm done. What I have seen is not UK basketball and I will forever loathe Cal for what he has done to it.
So Barney doesn't think Drew is an upgrade at this point?
Barney is a moron. There are tons of upgrades.
It probably means he isn't available. So Barney doesn't think Drew is an upgrade at this point?
Barney is a moron. There are tons of upgrades.
Nate Oates has always been my number one option. Bama ruined it by the extension thoughBarney also wouldn't know basketball enough to understand McCasland and Tang helped build Drew's roster that won. This crap I'm watching today is Gillespie like in terms of no offensive flow--spread iso "do 'em" nonsense and then defensively they are lost. But hey--he's a Drew so that matters to Barney.
That is true, cal has proven he’s no longer the coach for the job. He supposedly handle the other aspects perfectly and everyone puts more emphasis on that than actually winning games. I promise a coach could never travel the state, talk to anyone, or do commercials or whatever as long as they met UK winning standards. Everyone would be thrilled and would love them. The problem with your thinking is that you're making a case that Cal can still do the job. He can't. Not anymore.
That's why he's toast. I also think it's narrow to believe that only 4 or 5 guys can do the job. No one really knows that. Whatever the case may be, Cal is certainly no longer one of them.
What a clown show. You don't know if there is a clear cut candidate until you ASK THE BEST that's out there! You can't assume they'll all say no.Not sure if this was posted or not already but full quote below….

And I'm sure you're elated with that option.I was told this afternoon that Cal has reached out to his NBA guys to get funding from them to go towards NIL and to get some transfer portal guys for next season.
Cal is operating as if he will be back next season.
If you add older guys and get a couple back from this team is could be ok. I think what people are talking about is say Cal gets fired, all the recruits leave, and all of our current players leave. I think maybe there’s a chance that at least next year‘s roster would be bad with a Ho-hum coach that’s not a top 3 choice …., so maybe the thinking is you get some conditions from cal , staff changes for defense and clear objectives set, sit and work on the new guy for a while and have a plan in place . Tons gets done thru back channels in hiring .Good roster? Our roster next year is a bunch of middling recruits.
